South Africa paceman Dale Steyn reflects on the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne in 2008 when he took apart the Australia attack and registered his highest Test score
Tail-ender, gets 76 against arguably the toughest bowling attack in the world at that time Casually says "It wasn't about me, it was about the team" WHat a player! Legend!
@@ashoksoni2008 Haha. You're trying to be too clever. I didn't say anything about Dale steyn's innings. So whether steyn himself is from south africa or not, simply doesn't matter. I only said Australian attack of 2008-09 wasn't THE TOUGHEST bowling attack in the world. Whether steyn could play against the toughest attack or not is immaterial.
@@Vishal-eo6eh India certainly didn't have better bowling attack than Australia in 2008-09 overseas except on Asian pitches. South Africa did have strong attack too but as I said he's from SA himself so that didn't apply here. Choker ABD not at all. The guy just retired from national team when there is WC soon and his team needs him. He retired so that he can play more league games
I think he is nothing less than McGrath. I have seen both in full flow but Steyn had an advantage of extra pace. Both are already there. James Anderson has overtaken McGrath in terms of wicket but we all know he is nowhere near Steyn or McGrath. Wickets don't define everything.
@@mario3082 Yes Anderson is a fit guy. From 2002 to 2019 and still going strong. But my point is that Anderson was never a threat in non Swinging conditions except some odd matches. Steyn, McGrath delivered in every conditions.

The one and the only. Those guys who are commenting "McGrath >> Steyn" probably have no clue what they are referring to. McGrath was a medium fast bowler whose only duty was to pitch ball on the line & length. Well that's ABSOLUTELY fantastic but boring. But Steyn is the real deal. He is the genuine paceman. I will pick Steyn any day anytime.
The only duty which most bowlers cannot do on a regular basis. Noone did it close to as good as McGrath. When Dravid and Kallis rate him as the hardest bowler to play to, it is something.

@@White742 Haven't seen Lilliee but Steyn was definitely more complete than McGrath. McGrath's is a story of perfecting one thing and that's line and length, bowling in the area of uncertainty and that's basically it. You'll rarely see intimidating bouncers, low full tosses, fiery yorkers from McGrath. As for Wasim Akram, he was just amazing, but, If I had to choose between Akram and Steyn, It'll be a tough call. But, maybe, for that sheer speed and power I'll choose Steyn. As for reliability and consistency I'd definitely take McGrath any day over anyone.
