I have a slim model PS3 that I jailbroke so I definitely have multiMAN on it. Only thing is that I jailbroke that PS3 on the 4.90 firmware which was the current firmware at the time.
Makes sense. Backing up PS3 discs and playing them will work just as well on 4.90 as 4.91.

Thanks! In short, HEN can, "out of the box", play PS3 and PS1 backups natively. PS2 and PSP with HEN requires some additional steps. I'll definitely dig into it all soon. :)

Very cool vid! I am curious though is there a way to back up DLC content for the games as well? I know the web store for ps3 games on modded PS3s doesn't have every single DLC for each game
Thanks! I don't think the ISO creation process can do that natively. I think tools like Artemis might be able to piggy back on the work done by multiMAN though.

Sorta. It can't back up PS1 games, but it sorta can back up PS2 games. Strangely, with newer firmwares like 4.90 and 4.91, I haven't been able to use multiMAN to back up anything but PS3 games. It used to, but hasn't worked for me for PS2 games for about a year now. That's why I didn't delve into it. I do plan to cover backing up PS2 games very soon though.

Absolutely! That's the PS3 Super Slim model. You'll need to install PS3HEN on that system to get the ball rolling first. But yes, it'll work great with all models of PS3 systems.

Hi, I have 4.91 Evilnat but when I'm Multiman Mode & tryna start a Game, it shows " Operation not allowed. Cobra firmware or USB is need" how do I fix this?
I always have to switch between mmCM & Multiman Mode from the settings menu
Which title(s) are you trying to play? Are they backups you personally made of downloads from online sources? I think some titles just aren't so happy to be backed up and played. That NCAA 10, for example, just doesn't back up no matter what I try. I even had the disc professionally resurfaced at my local, trustworthy retro game shop. If those backups are from online sources, they might not be encrypted / decrypted properly.
What’s the difference between multiman and PS Hen? I just want to play PS3 games and not homebrews. And some PS2 games as well
Sure thang. PS3HEN is a form of hybrid operating system that "jailbreaks" all models pf PS3 systems. It's primarily used with model 3000 Slim systems and all Super Slim systems. It's what's called a "non-persistent" jailbreak, meaning it has to reinitiated each time those systems are restarted or powered off and on. But HEN is the first step needed to run unofficial software like multiMAN. With multiMAN, it's essentially, among other things, a home-brew app that creates digital backups of physical discs and loads them like they were physical discs. Whether those backups come from copies you make, or copies obtained elsewhere, it's the same to the PS3 as loading a physical disc. Then you can launch those games from the Xross Media Bar like any other physical disc.

Interesting. Are you making a backup copy of your original disc to play it? Or is it a downloaded backup? Downloads can sometimes be of lesser quality than backing up your own physical disc.

All 2000 models and nearly all 2500 models can be jailbroken. None of the 3000 models can be jailbroken, but all PS3 models can have PS3HEN installed.
Is this any different than the older video?
Somewhat. A bit of a different pace and more thorough in the details. One two of the things I keep saying to myself as I watch educational content on TH-cam are "slow down, and make it bigger". As in to take more time explaining things and make things larger and easier to see on mobile. I think I've done both.
