You can go in safe mode and update then you get the data :)

@@Red_Keeper it allows you to load you physical games to your PS3 so you don’t need them to play your games. You will need to upgrade your storage capacity though depending on how many games you own. It also allows for more customization of themes and downloading homebrew apps.

I put my usb in after doing formatting and adding the files and I went to system update and it says "no applicable update could be found"

When you selected the 'Autoinstall' option at 10:36 ., a download screen appeared , downloading some files. That didn't happen for me, and when I press 'Auto install hen,' nothing happens either.

Figured it out. So, JavaScript has to be enabled and once I turned it on it worked immediately once I reopened the page. I also restarted my PS3 between those 2 events so maybe try that too.

Install in recovery mode by pressing the power button until PS3 turns off and press the second time until you hear 2 bips then press PS then choose system update
Double check that you put the PS3 folder in and not the whole thing lol just realised that’s what I did and it’s worked perfect

i think yes, thats what hen 4.91 is for. people still dont know why sony releases 4.91, its actually to renew some keys in your ps3, so that it can still read and play newer BD movies with renewed keys. at least thats what i read in an article

Did you find a solution?
The three most common reasons for this are:
1) the USB drive itself is incompatible with the PS3. Easy way to check is to insert the USB drive into the rightmost USB port on the PS3, then go to the Photo tab on the XMB. If you see the drive listed there, you're good. If not, try a different drive.
2) The drive must be formatted in FAT32 format.
3) Any system software files have to be in the PS3 - > UPDATE subfolder.
Double-check these and I think you'll be good to go.

Short answer, yes, so long as those games will fit on a FAT32 USB drive. Longer answer, you can copy over ISO files to your PS3 using FTP, an NTFS formatted drive with the NTFS compatibility app added to your PS3, or dump real PS3 discs to your internal drive using multiMAN. When I double click on the gui format it opens up ibis paint. I’m using my daughter’s Chromebook

I guess that would depend on the data you're looking to protect. I don't -think- the HEN update process wipes out things like trophies, music, saves, etc, but I can't say with complete certainty. Maybe back up anything super important to USB before updating, just in case.
