    I had terrible trouble getting an OEM replacement in a timely manner, so I swapped to a new battery with more cold cranking amps and larger capacity than the stock battery. I even swapped the temp sensor etc, now my car, upon startup is giving me a “check hybrid system” warning and another “power brake assist” warning. I’m worried using the wrong battery can mess up the hybrid system. I’m going to try to reset the codes with a diagnostic reader and see if that helps/if they return

      I don’t think there is any special requirement of the 12v battery except voltage level. I have used normal lead acid, AGM of different brand and did not have any issue. If voltage drop because the battery is bad or not being charged by the alternator then it throw up all sorts of error. Most error code will resolve itself after driving around a bit once the battery voltage is at the correct level

      @@BCreviews thanks for the info. I was told to mak sure the battery is na AGM. And not to get one less than the cold cranking amps of the last battery. I went and bought a code reader today to clear the codes and see if they come back. Funny enough as soon as I bought it the warnings cleared themself from the dash. It took about 24 hours. Started the car maybe 4-5 times and now the warnings are gone so hopefully it was a temporary issue in the system that needed to reset. 🙏🏼

      It's really hard to find and the latest OEM cost $900... It's a shame

    Hi. Did the parasitic battery drain affect your fuel consumption?

    • @BCreviews
      @BCreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not noticeable difference tbh, but I don't drive it much so mpg could be way off anyway

    I replaced the battery last year, all was well up until the last two weeks. The battery won’t hold a charge for 2-3 days. And advice? I don’t have a dash camera, everything is stock. If I took the positive cable off the battery while the car is running to see if it cuts off will that old school alternator test damage my cars computer? It’s a 2013 Lexus gs450h

      Did you spent 700 changing out the battery last year? Hope you get to the bottom of it. Got to find out where the drain is or in an unlikely scenario the car is not charging the 12v battery in the first place.

      @@BCreviews The new battery cost me about $500 at the dealership, i couldn’t find that battery anywhere else. It lasted for a year, one day I didn’t drive the car for 4-5 days and when I hopped in the battery was dead. I jumped it and drove it for like 40 minutes and everything was okay for 2 weeks. The after 3 days sitting it does in me and I jumped it and now the charge won’t last a day or two and has to be jumped. Don’t think I should put the battery on the autozone store battery charger and have them charged it all night. They did that with my motorcycle battery before.

      @@BCreviews Update: I called the dealership and it’s still under warranty however I have the battery at the auto parts store on their overnight charger so I’m going to see how that works first, I’m picking it up today.

    My battery is dead and valet switch is on and I can't access the trunk. The key fob isn't turning in trunk hole either. Any suggestions? I have a 07 GS450H

      Hopefully you have sorted it by now, your key doesn't unlock the trunk? That does not need power to unlock. Anyway, if the only way to get in is to power up the 12v battery then you can try and access the number plate light bulb and carefully apply 12 to the terminals. I won't be responsible for any problems if you do as I have not done that to the GS450H but I done that to my Land Rover

      Mabe to late for you, but can help another person, open the hood, and there is a small terminal you can apply 12v to and open trunk like normal

      I have the exact same model 07 GS450h. Key fob works if you toggle the trunk hole for a bit. This is needed given the fact the trunk hole barely gets used with a key fob in general as the vehicle itself relies heavily on electric power. I will be switching batteries this coming weekend and hope all goes well at the end of it!

      Try the Lexus owners forum, most are helpful brunch and will share what they paid at dealerships. During lock down I did not drive the car for months and check my phone every so often and prompted me to plug in the trickle charge last week as temp drop to zero and battery close to 12v

    Do you know what replacement battery I can use for a 2013 Lexus GS 450H? I’m in America by the way.

      I am really 🤔 not sure what batteries available in the US. The 12v battery is only to keep the computer power up and not needed to crank the alternator for example. AGM batteries is what comes with the car and I use normal lead acid battery without any issue… cheaper

      @@BCreviews Thanks for your response, I'm just going to pay the $700 for the battery, I can't find a alternative.
