Bro, love that you’re staying true to who you are. No need to go to a luxury brand if you can build and purchase other quality watches at a fraction of the price. Keep doing what you’re doing; do what makes you happy! No need to struggle with spending money on a luxury watch.
Thank you Dalton. I want the message to be clear. There is a very affordable way to enjoy watches even if you’re looking for a specific design. I’m always going to be authentic with what I do and I appreciate you recognizing and connecting to the content. Let me know if there is any specific content you want to see in the future. 🤓✌️
Good topic Skyler! I am like you, not a luxury guy. I appreciate them and love the designs/craftsmanship, but my family has to eat! Homage watches can fit the bill. Recently I am digging Steeldive. I like excellent quality and affordable price. Contentment is a great thing. I totally agree. Feeling the same way. Keep up the good work!
Thank you John! I would also try to contact the company if you are interested in doing a custom logo on a homage. I know Tandorio does a custom logo if you message them for a small fee but if you are not interested in that just get the regular homage is just fine. Steeldive watches I have heard are great value for the standard NH movement. You should reach out to them to see if they would be willing to sponsor a watch for you and Elliott to review. Fruit for thought. Thank you for checking in on the video my friend.
I was pretty deep into the hobby when I bought my first luxury piece. It was an Omega SMP 300. You’ve seen it on my WC WRUW posts many times. My grandfather left me a few thousand when he passed and I went to the AD and bought it to commemorate him. I didn’t think I’d buy any more luxury pieces but after the first one I was a little snake bit. Found myself strategizing and saving for the next big one. Maybe it’s a sickness that you’ve managed to avoid! lol.
I love that story brother! Listen by all means if going for luxury timepieces have become your swag I’m am in full support of that and I completely understand why so please don’t feel that I am excluding you when I promote a homage watch. I simply am trying to relate to those who can’t afford luxury watches even if they save up they would feel way to guilty about spending that amount of money. But if you personally can afford it and it bring you happiness I fully support it and I’m proud of you for disciplining your self enough to achieve the purchase. Thank you for checking in on the video my friend!
Good look Skyler. You brought up some very good points, especially around luxury watches. Funny...while I'm in a position to buy on that level I never do for several reasons, some of which line up with yours.
Thanks Mega! Nothing at all against someone who wants a big lux brand But The message is just that you don’t have to pay all that money 💰 just to have a lot of fun with watches even if you want that design language. I can totally relate to your position. I technically can save quickly to afford a lux watch but I just don’t want to..I feel blessed to even be able to afford a $200-$300 watch and can have just as much fun with them. ✌️😉
I have two Speedy type watches. My Pagani Speedy and that Bulova Lunar Pilot. In the realm of Invicta, Monday's are reserved for Magnums and Fridays belong to the Venom.
I definitely don’t get 10x the enjoyment from a watch that costs 10x as much as another. Also when I buy an “affordable” watch I’m not “settling”, I’m buying a watch I actually want. Someone could build a great diver, field, chrono and gmt collection just from San Martin alone for well less than a grand. I miss the innocence of my early days when I didn’t know other collectors and their baggage.
I hear you. Bit of a let down when you experience the “baggage” feeling by watch snobs but that’s what partly motivated me to try and build a community where every single collector is welcome except the wrist trolls. Pay no mind to the drama to the effect of not even getting mad and responding to that energy. There are plenty of like minded beautiful people in watch communities that are worth your most valued recourse which is time it self! Thank you for dropping in Jack! I appreciate you my friend. 🤓✌️
Hi Skyler! I agree with your point of view on this topic! The most expensive watch I own is a Mido Commander Icone. Everything else is below that price. I don't do MODS yet, but I'm not worried about having to replace an NH35 movement in my watches. Since that movement is the one that predominates in most of my watches. I've thought a thousand times about buying an Omega Speedmaster, but until now I've not wanted to pay so many dollars for that watch. I always find other ways to invest that money in many other things that I consider more important in my life. I know that on Watchcrunch there are a lot of people who upload photos of their luxury watches, frankly I ignore most of them! A hug from Mexico City!
Hey Alex! Thank you for sharing your thought big dog I always love hearing different points of views. To be clear Those who are apart of WatchCrunch or any other community with Luxury watches are not excluded in my opinion. There are plenty of people who value luxury watches that are not a watch snob and I won’t fault them in being able to afford and enjoy watches of that caliber. What matters more is there overall attitude or rather how we feel about there collection. To put it simply. I respect a person with a Rolex submariner or a SM 300 from Omega equally to someone like my self who has homage watches from pagani design of those exact watches. Both people get an equal seat at the table and the same level of respect as long as they both are not a snob let’s break bread! I to rather invest my money and out my resources to quality of life and responsibility so I completely relate. If you do decide to start modding I’m more than happy to help you with any info you’re interested in acquiring. I have videos coming out soon covering watch modding step by step. I also recommend Dad Mod Watches channel. JP is a master of modding and a great person to reach out to for advice. Thanks for stopping in my friend! I appreciate your support. 🤓🤝
@@Skyler.Santana Hi Skyler! Your point of view is clear to me and I agree with you! I don't exclude those who own luxury watches either! I understand that there are people who have no problem spending what a Rolex or Omega watch costs and good for them! That doesn't stop me from getting bored of seeing so many photographs of those watches! As for costs, the Chinese have taught us that you can have a watch made of good steel, with sapphire crystal, with a ceramic bezel and a good movement for a few dollars! And that creates a conflict when deciding what my next watch will be! I don't know, maybe one day I'll change my mind and buy the Omega watch I like! But I'm sure that before that happens, I will have achieved other goals that are more important than a watch. On the other hand, I live in a country where you can lose your life for wearing a luxury watch, because when they are stolen, they do it with luxury of violence. Recently a person died in an assault because he was wearing a clone of a Rolex! Can you believe it? And that is another factor that affects when making a decision! I've already gone too far! hahaha...it's always a pleasure to talk to you! 😎 A hug! 🫂
@@Skyler.Santana By the way, thank you very much for offering to support me with the introduction to the MOD world! Honestly, Tudor is a watch brand that I can only say I respect from a far. I really can’t responsibly weigh in on a brand that I don’t have any experience with.
I have a few pieces that remind you of a speedy. I don't see paying a lot of money for a watch that doesn't feel like the money. Shbamn50 wants it to feel like a brick on my wrist for that kind of money.
There's a new all white Speedmaster homage from Pagani which "The Watcher" reviewed a couple of days ago. It's tempting me because I only have the MoonSwatch too and the current sale is unbelievable, but I probably wouldn't ever wear it. As for the badges, I was never a Boy Scout, but I do like to collect Girl Scout cookies. Mmmmm... mint thins...
I appreciate you dropping in Dean. Yea man it’s impossible to wrist the moonswatch as a daily without suffering a watch casualty which is why I have a few homages to reflect the moonwatch and that’s what makes me happy 😃 Lmao about the badges! I enjoy collecting the WC badges for sh*ts and goggles but I do like me some Girl Scout cookies more 🤣🤓
