Hey there so just got your guys orange enforcer braid. Looks Sooo good. Was just wondering if 150 yards going to be enough to fill the spool on any baitcaster reel? Probly a dumb question so sorry lol but kinda new and just want to make sure. Awesome videos btw best on TH-cam I've found. P.s had to get the addicted hook hat haha it's just to pimp not to. thanks again for any help
Just got my first baitcasting combo and set it up thanks to this video! Been a casual spin fisher my whole life, never willing to try baitcasting because it was "for advanced anglers" due to the dreaded backlash! Jordan showed me how baitcasting is not intimidating after all, and I gained the confidence to go out and try it. It is so much fun! Thank you so much for all your content--you are all greatly appreciated. Much love addicts
Although this is years old, it is awesome. I’m recovering from surgery and have nothing to do but get back into fishing. At 59:years old, it’s been over 30 years since I was into the sport. Thanks guys for the best fishing channel on TH-cam
Unfortunately I watched someone else’s video first and I gotta say…your way is THE WAY! Simple and effective. No removing the spool And all that. Great video bro, thanks
Eeek. This is the first addicted tutorial which I think is going to lead people into problems and frustration. 1) On some reels, there is a knob on the spool to directly tie the line. For those reels, braid all the way to the spool is fine. On a reel like the Okuma in the video, I think the majority of viewers would benefit from having mono backing to ensure there the line has good traction with the spool and it won't slip. I know that I've done straight braid only to find my line not retrieving when I reel as the spool just cannot grip the slick braid as well as it can mono. The spool just spins at the core of the braid. 2) I always ensure that there is a LOT of line tension when I spool fresh line on a baitcaster - especially when it's braid. Jordan's approach of thumbing the first few casts while using a 3/4 or 1 oz jig 1)prevents initial bird's nests (thumbing), and 2) ensures a lot of line tension while retrieving heavy jigs through water. However, you can skip the need for thumbing or using a heavy jig if you just put proper line tension while spooling the reel in the first place. If the line is too loose on the spool, you'll get more bird's nests and you run the risk of really digging the braid into the spool. Braid is expensive. Having to cut it off your reel or worse, becoming discouraged in using a baitcaster because the line isn't properly spooled, is a real concern. I think first-time baitcaster users would generally benefit by 1) using mono backing, and 2) making sure that there is a lot of line tension when spooling braid.
Thanks guys! Just snagged a Citrix 354 off Okuma's site on clearance and a guide select for steelies here this winter. Stoked to use it after using spinning for decades!
Thanks a lot for sharing mate. I just bought yesterday my first baitcaster rod and a reel, so this is very usefull for me!! Greetings from Holland, Pat. 👊🏼👍🏼🇳🇱🇺🇦
I know how to use my new baitcaster I just bought because of you now thank you very much, had to watch this video after I got five birds nests in one morning while catching two fish, it was very stressful
Love the basics. Don’t know when I’ll need a bait caster before I can ever afford a boat. Fishing lakes and rivers from shore. Check out the payload of his pickup! More rods sticking out than quills on a porcupine’s tail.
you dont need a boat to use a baitcaster. i dont have a boat, and i've been using a casting real for 40 years. ever seen a channel called "1 rod1 reel" ? most of his early videos are bank fishing creeks. he uses a metanium.
The KEY part to a baitcaster, is that it's much closer to the rod, leaving much less friction as it travels which results in less effort for the same distance. :) EDIT- Love the video :D
Hey there I have 150yrds of 30lb braid. Would that be enough to fill a baitcaster reel? And if not what would be my best route of adding line to my current 150 yards, wouldn't more knots be a problem?Or do I just have to go buy a bigger spool of line to start with?
Jordan my man I had to look in the archives Apparently I never watched this video Like 2 years ago you guys were lacking in the thumbs up It's better now See you soon
Does your line need to be over the top bar in front of the bait caster reel. I just bought my first bait caster reel and I have never used it. I had it spooled at sportmans warehouse with 10lb floroucarbon line. I just want to make sure I'm setting it up right. Please let me know asap. Thank you. You guys are so awesome I love your tutorials and your fishing videos. Especially your steelhead fishing. I used to live in Oregon and have done my share of fishing for steelhead salmon and trout but always used a spin cast reel. Thank you guys for all your info.
We are new to baitcasting. The drag won’t adjust and the line guide moves when you reel it in but the spool won’t turn. It’s a brand new reel. Do you know how to fix this?
Very helpful seeing you do this on site without any fancy tools, although I’ll have to watch that knot a few more times. You seem very motivational with a love for the sport so subscribed before watching anymore yet. Right from the go you seem to have a way about you so keep on the way you are. Thanks
Thank you for the useful video, could you guys do a vid on how to set up and fish a bait diver and prawn spinner or shrimp spinner, that would be awesome, I'm hoping to do that this year for coho.👍😁👍, thanks
I been trying for two days now, I am new to bait casters and my bait caster won’t cast even though I press the thumb button and I did all the other adjustments. I tied a small weight on it to test it and it wouldn’t go down.
The braid might be dacron. If it is backing is pointless. On another note dacron is 1,000,000x better as mono for backing. They use dacron in fly fishing all the time as backing.
That's are holes in the rell for a reason so you can put the line through the rell to prevent when it will not rell back if you cast just take your time studying look a at other vids
So you don’t put the line through any of the holes on the spool itself? I just ordered a bait cast and never lined or casted one. This should be interesting.
Loosen the breaks and use your thumb to slow the spool as the cast is happening. Press lightly at first or don't press then slowly add pressure. By the end of the cast you should be pressing the spool enough so that it has completely stopped without a tangle.
double uni knot is a great knot for line to line connection if you're spooling line on top of already existing line. Have a really helpful video of that knot on my channel if anyone needs help.
How to put line on a SPINNING REEL can be watched here! th-cam.com/video/vhmXy90iEKo/w-d-xo.html

Having never owned a bait caster I assumed this would be a boring video. I was wrong absolutely learned loads. Thanks

No removing the spool And all that.
Great video bro, thanks
Just got the line for my new baitcasting reel.....and now, thanks to you I'll head downstairs and spool up my reel.
Yes I agree. This is so simplified. So far my favorite video. Great video!!
I am going to be retiring soon. Your videos are very informative and easy to understand. Thank you so much
Mind blown. Learn something new everyday. In this video about 4 to 5 things.
Thank you

Thank you so much. Now I can use my first baitcaster reel. Best video so far that really helped me.

Thanks, those are very helpful tips
Extra taughtness for comfort. Words to live by.
Good video 👍🏼💪🏼
Nicely done. Great teaching style where your enthusiasm shows.
Excellent tutorial, as usual. Great description for adjusting the brake and testing before throwing. Keep 'em coming!

This is the best bait casting video.

@@Depraved6 depends on the size of baitcaster, I just bought one myself, I got 165 yards of 50, the box says it holds 120yards of 50lb Power Pro.
Excellent video. Appreciate your time and effort making this video
Thank u so so so Mach for helping me put line on my reel
Excellent teacher
This one of the most informative videos ive ever seen thank you so much you rock.
Thanks for the tutorial sir
Been thinking about getting a Baitcaster reel.... just got a 9 foot ugly stick. Need a good reel
They're great. Can get so many casts out of them.
Thanks so much man
Very descriptive, I love it
Was wondering what Okuma baitcaster is that? I have a shimano curado and wanted to look at other options as well.
Thanks for sharing greatly appreciate it
Is that the Willamette River? I was just there a few hours ago in Harrisburg scoping out a fishing spot with my grandpa
so do you have to do this with each lure jig what have you ?? when casting?
out here its Pike and Walleye
Jordan my man I had to look in the archives Apparently I never watched this video Like 2 years ago you guys were lacking in the thumbs up It's better now See you soon
Would the red cajun line be ideal for a bigger bait caster for catfishing?
I want that HELIOS SX I got a TCS with the matching SCOTT MARTIN SIG TCS rod very nice looking combo🔥
Thanks for the tutorial!!!
Very helpful video! Entertaining and educational, thank you 👍
I just got a bait caster, thx for the vid!😊
Great video, thanks for the info.
You guys are great with show and tell I love it
If I have the secondary brake system, when/why do I loosen or tighten that part?
So is the packaging on spool facing up or down? Or does it matter
Cool. Wouldn’t be better to use holes on the spool to knot trough them prevent the slipping the line on the spool?
I just bought a okuma cold water low profile.
Super helpful! Thank you! The rats nest happens to me all the time now I know why!

I was just wondering the same thing after using them over the top of the bar for the last 10 years. Did you ever get an official answer?
Great stuff guys. I know this shit and I'm still watching. Says a lot. Good teacher
FISHING, FISHING, FISHING!!!!!!!
Is it okay to use a uni knot to start putting the line on the bait caster?
We are new to baitcasting. The drag won’t adjust and the line guide moves when you reel it in but the spool won’t turn. It’s a brand new reel. Do you know how to fix this?

You guys should make like a pro staff group like other companies and guides do like addicted fishing pro staff? That would be dope
Thank you for the useful video, could you guys do a vid on how to set up and fish a bait diver and prawn spinner or shrimp spinner, that would be awesome, I'm hoping to do that this year for coho.👍😁👍, thanks
Can you give me the link to that rod if you can that wound be great thanks
So i just bought a brandnew baitcaster and i tuned it up and everything but the line doesn't drop to the ground when i click it
Yes thank guys

More baitcasting vids! Cheers

No mono backing on the spool before braid?

Thanks
What's rod you used bro?
That is to keep of nuff tension on the axle of the spool to make sure you don't get too many back lashes or birds nest in your casting reel and spools
For 20 mins I’ve been trying to get the knot right rewinding the video 100x and I finally gave up
Thank that’s about it
The funny thing is I’ve never seen this video before now but I’m a noob at BC’s and I still do it the way he does to a point lmao
Why not use the arbor knot?
I can’t find that braid he mentioned for sale
Come to Brewster for sockeye
We wanted to... we still may try to make it happen!
Shore or boat....? I been hitting Wells Dam but its just to slow on the bite...
I can use a clinch?!?! ive been using an arbor! clinch looks so much easier!
My bait caster holds 30 pounds of 140 yards can I put 20 pounds on it and how much can I put on it?
That's are holes in the rell for a reason so you can put the line through the rell to prevent when it will not rell back if you cast just take your time studying look a at other vids
Will the line jump off the reel?
What line did u use
Dose anyone know what reel that is
Great video man but you lost me on the tying to the reel. Haha
Do you like you use right handed baitcasters
I need help with that knot
Oh yeah
So you didn’t actually go through any of the holes in the spool? Just all the way around the spool?
Well you don't have to. But you can.
So you don’t put the line through any of the holes on the spool itself? I just ordered a bait cast and never lined or casted one. This should be interesting.
I keep thumbing the spool when I cast but I can’t cast far or I will get a rats nest. What do I do?
Loosen the breaks and use your thumb to slow the spool as the cast is happening. Press lightly at first or don't press then slowly add pressure. By the end of the cast you should be pressing the spool enough so that it has completely stopped without a tangle.
double uni knot is a great knot for line to line connection if you're spooling line on top of already existing line. Have a really helpful video of that knot on my channel if anyone needs help.
Tuf line makes an orange braid
Funny how they do it and don’t show it up close
back that shit with mono, braid is too expensive lol!
sick video though, Thanks!
Damn I’m early
What kind of line is that ?
😉
@@AddictedFishing Can you let out the secret now? I've been trying to find some good quality orange braid for months now with no success
You should never tie braid directly to any spool
Very well presented...For me you are sometimes a little fast...presuming too much...Not so here...Teaching is the clear intention. Thank you.
