This has to be the best video of the whole series I've watched! The fantastic stories from Larry and the awesome work by Jack is out of this world. But hearing and seeing how impressed Larry was seeing the '93 livery on the last Commodore touring car was fabulous. Larry was genuinely excited to see that. You've kick it out the park Jack. Congratulations on this and all the projects you have had your hands on. 1,000% effort from everyone involved!
"Said to the guys 'Mate this has got some mumbo..it's gunna do a very good time"..."I'll give it good old a fang up the hill and down it.." gotta love Larry, engineering genius and no BS. Loved the backroom dealings getting sponsor money out of Holden. Thanks Jack and Larry. The new car looks awesome Jack - congratulations. Thanks for another awesome episode. I'll watch Bathurst this year, and wish it was 1993. :)😀
The 1993 Bathurst story warms my heart! Always had a huge respect for Larry and what he has achieved! And let's also not forget Bathurst in 1995, might need another vid with Larry for that one!
Well done LP & Jack , can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve gone blue in the face trying to explain this was the last genuine Holden powered car to win at Bathurst.
How special. I sit here and watch this in the very shadow of the Mountain. I'm on a roadtrip holiday and we've stayed the night in Bathurst.... something extra special.
Great show Jack! LP your a legend mate🤘. Love your livery Jack what an awesome tribute! Definitely a big thank you to everyone that made that happened. Cheers
Congratulations Jack and Larry. The restoration of the 93 car is incredible and the tribute with your current car is such an amazing effort to help keep the memories of the good ol days alive. It’s disappointing no more locally manufactured cars and on track is so measured. Love listening to Larry’s stories and the pride he has in you and your work is so inspiring to see. Keep up the great work, and the fantastic TH-cam episodes.
Well done Jack and Larry! Awesome work. Both cars are a credit to you and thank you for keeping the memories alive of the best racing category, bar none!
Wonderful, brings back a lot of memories here to, one of the best Bathursts, particularly with last of the Iron Lions. Look forward to the anniversary run at Bathurst.
Great video Jack. By the way, the ol' man looks great sporting those whiskers. Awesome memories of watching LP put one right up the big guys in 93 and doing it with the old Aussie engine. Love the new car too.. looking forward to seeing both of these beasts lapping at Bathurst. All the best.
At the time of watching that Bathurst almost everyone I was watching with was cheering this car on.. what an amazing time in motorsport history.. Well done LP Cheers👍
Hi Jack and Larry, well what an awesome video, and even though I'm a Ford boy from the old DJR days of old, Larry was without question my secret team I supported for the underdog status and Larry's determination with how he did things and I have mentioned before I was in the crowd at the presentation in 93 when that car and Larry and Greg won, I got showered in the champagne and I just love Perkins Engineering even to this day and it has made my day watching this video, you Jack I think you are honouring your fathers achievements and it is just great, and I wish you all the best in the race this year. When that 93 car does those laps this year with Larry at the wheel, it will bring the house down, wow wow wow what a sight that will be, so so good, bring back the old days. Thank you Jack and Larry, you guys are just fantastic, it's really appreciated in keeping the memories alive, Many Thanks Jamie from Newcastle 👍👍👍🇦🇺
Great listening to your old man about the racing back in the day. I remember them well. Be great to see the old VP on the track again. And good luck at Sandown and Bathurst Jack!

That was an epic 50th video - loved every second of it ! I reckon LP would have a thousand stories like that to tell and I want to listen to every one of them! Both cars look stunning and I can’t wait to see them on the track !
Another great show by the perkins team , absolutely loved every second and Larry,s no b.s stories are are always enjoyed .I still remember Larry saying there's no reason why a Holden V8 still can't win Bathurst and against all odds went on to prove it. It's also great how you are both so proud of each other's achievements , to further that its people of this calibre that make us proud to be australian # thanx and RIP Greg we still remember that fateful day. ❤
Great channel Jack and Larry, I love the informative content. It I love the Engineering that goes into these beasts. I Wish supercars would just put these old holden and ford shells on the current cars and make them relevant again!
That is a great video, you can feel the love in the air between Larry and Jack. I could listen to Larry tell his stories all day, he would have a million of them. Great job on the look of both of the cars, and good luck for both Sandown and Bathurst.

Fantastic video, love Larry talking about the issues & the fact it was a Holden engine rocketship with his hands on & the freedom to engineer gear ratios etc. Something missing from the current series is the freedom to engineeer the car

What a cracking yarn. You have to love the irony of LP winning with a Holden engine, after being shunned by Holden for not using a chev!
Thanks!
once again another enjoyable & insightful episode.
I know Holden was running a Chev in their own factory team. But how ironic is it that Holden gave LP the cold shoulder because he wanted to stick with Holdens own engine! Particularly since at that time Holden was still using Holden V8s in their production car.... Glad Larry managed to convince the Holden marketing guy to come on board.
I still dont understand why they would push for the old chev over the Holden, which got a symmetrical head and the chev didnt?
Perkins Engineering could no doubt answer the question better than me.
But I think it came down to a couple of factors.
The Ford teams were given permission to run the US sourced Ford Motorsport engine with alloy heads, which had a fair bit more potential than the cast iron heads, whereas there wasn't this option with the Holden engine at the time.
And performance parts for the US engines were plentiful and considerably cheaper than the Holden.
Cheers!!!
I think it was driven by other teams that couldn't make the power with Holden engines and the future was likely to be Chev components.
Hoping to run into a harvester in the Mallee on a dirt road just to say G'day to you guys!
High chance of that!!
Bloody awesome can’t wait to see them both at the mountain!!! Any Merch with it?
We did speak about it but at this stage nothing for Bathurst, maybe something after, definitely chat of model cars!
What an awesome story, stuff of legends. Love that LP works on the engine then drives the wheels off the bloody thing on race day.
