    What is hangar 40-24 used for? I was thinking painting, but the Air France livery is nearly complete. It's so simple, but it looks very elegant!

    • @PlanesAtPaine
      @PlanesAtPaine  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      DullesPlaneSpotter the 40-24 was originally a surge line for the 787 to stay on schedule while Charleston got started. Now that CHS is caught up, the 40-24 is a temporary storage facility where last minute applications are made. It allows the line to keep moving forward without expanding the size of the 40-26 itself. They get interior, cockpit finalization, and test equipment installed over 44 hours then roll out again.

    • @PlanesAtPaine
      @PlanesAtPaine  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      DullesPlaneSpotter 787s carbon fiber fuselages are already painted white when they arrive, we have 4 paint hangars here, it went into the 45-03 (middle one near the factory). The paint hangars are a little odd, they make sure only paint staff are allowed in while the plane is being worked on, and each building is completely separate from any other part of the facility.

      Boeing has a great system for the production line. It sounds like it is very efficient (and fun to watch!). Thanks for the information!

      zuber oberoi Not sure haha. During line moves though everything shifts forward rather quickly, might've been an accident in the 40-26.

      At Boeing's 787 assembly plant in North Charleston, SC.

    • @PlanesAtPaine
      @PlanesAtPaine  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, they, being 787-10s, will be built in Charleston, South Carolina.

    Whoops! Didn't read description. Nice that GE engines were used. The world seems to be propping up Rolls Royce heretofore. Brexit will make GE engines less expensive than Rolls.

    The manager of the business park told me you guys keep trespassing and damaging their shrubs on the property.

    • @PlanesAtPaine
      @PlanesAtPaine  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's funny, I've always used a ladder there and never once have I stepped in the shrubs. And I don't personally know anyone else who's done that either. Josh, I take it, I would like to remind you that the Paine Field Business Park isn't managed by one individual, it's split, and if one of the property owners (I would assume that would be Mike as he interacts with us the most) actually spoke to you, don't you think that's a bit of a weird conversation to have? What's the relationship? Why did he feel like telling you?
      Something tells me you're bluffing. ;D

  • @BrokebackBob
    @BrokebackBob 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The order must have been a clerical error. The French would never buy anything that didn't have Airbus on it and Rolls Royce powering it.

    • @DoomCastGaming
      @DoomCastGaming 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tell that to their 42 707s, 31 727s, 57 737s, 62 747s, 6 767s, 60 777s, and soon to be 25 787s. All powered by CFM, GE or PW

    • @BrokebackBob
      @BrokebackBob 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      DoomCastGaming It was a joke :-) but wow thanks for the data!. I assume you are quoting planes that are still in service. Boeing 707s and 727s, seriously? I think if you look at planes in service, the inventory is moving further and further away from Boeing because Airbus has mega factories in France that employ thousands and thousands of people, just like Boeing does here. Marine Le Pen, who is running for President of France and is a far-right looney like Trump and his thugs and followers, has said that France will be considering exiting from the EU and start big global import tariffs is she is elected. I doubt if Airbus imports any parts from the US at this point.

    • @DoomCastGaming
      @DoomCastGaming 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Obviously this list is of aircraft in service and out of service. I am just saying that France isn't only going for Airbus or Boeing. Just stating the fact that there have been and still are lots of Boeing aircraft that are being used. Yes most of these aircraft are no longer in service but that doesn't mean they're done with Boeing for good.

    • @BrokebackBob
      @BrokebackBob 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      DoomCastGaming I think it will be a gradual process and is underway now. I think most of Europe will go Airbus. Now Asia is another story.They have no aircraft industry to speak of and they tend to prefer Boeing because of the relationship that has existed with Boeing (Boeing being on the West coast) for many years. I think the American airlines better start getting patriotic and stop sucking on the Airbus discount tit that they present constantly for suckling.

    • @DoomCastGaming
      @DoomCastGaming 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      BobEckert56 Don't get me wrong, Airbus succeeds very well when it comes to domestic aircraft like the A320 for European customers. But I know there are still 927 737s left to deliver to Europe. 400 of those are to Ryanair who are also buying at least 100 more 737-MAXs. More customers include: Norwegian, Avalon, Monarch, SMBC, Enter Air, and LOT for the MAX.
      As for the 777X program, Lufthansa is the 777-9 project launch customer. In order to be a project launch customer, you have to be the first to commit to the plane. They ordered 34 777-9s. Along with the middle eastern airlines like Emirates, Saudia, and Qatar who ordered an massive amount of 777X's

      Charlie Murillo it has newish titles. Other than that, nothing unique. Similarly to HB-JNA, I would think they may apply a special decal post delivery.
