Bloemencorso Bollenstreek 2015 Sassenheim

This Dutch flower parade passed my guitar workshop window yesterday.The theme was "The Kingdom of the Netherlands is 200 years old" I filmed it through the window so the quality is crap (try putting your settings on HD that should make it a bit better) still waiting for the Canon 750D or 760D to be released here in Holland.Sometime next month I'am told. Oh and sorry for the MUZAK TH-cam gave me a copyright warning about the music the Brass Marching Bands play in the film ,they were so good the TH-cam robot recognized everything ! Well done lads :) so I had to use TH-cams Muzak :(
Bloemencorso (a Dutch word) means "flower parade", "flower pageant" or "flower procession". In a parade of this kind the floats (praalwagens), cars and (in some cases) boats are magnificently decorated or covered in flowers. Each parade has its own character, charm and theme. Many towns and regions in the Netherlands and Belgium hold parades every year.
The foundation for the democratic legal order as we know it today was laid in 1813, and it evolved slowly but surely from there. In 1848 freedom of assembly and association and the freedom of education were added to the fundamental rights enshrined in the Dutch Constitution, and freedom of the press was expanded. However, slavery was not abolished in the Antilles and Suriname until 1863.
Since 1815 the Kingdom has become much smaller. Belgium, Luxembourg, Indonesia, Suriname and New Guinea have gone their own way. For a long time, three countries remained: the Netherlands, the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. Since the constitutional changes of 2010, there are now four countries in the Kingdom (the Netherlands, Curaçao, Aruba and St Maarten) and three special municipalities of the Netherlands (Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba).
Bloemencorso Bollenstreek 22 april tot en met 26 april thema "200 jaar Koninkrijk".
Van 22 april 2015 tot en met 26 april 2015 bruist het in de Bollenstreek. Die week worden de praalwagens van 22 april tot en met 24 april gestoken in de Klinkenberghal in Sassenheim.
Vrijdagavond rijdt het verlichte Bloemencorso door Noordwijkerhout.
Op zaterdag 25 april vertrekt het Bloemencorso om 9.30 uur vanaf de Wilhelminaboulevard in Noordwijk naar Haarlem. Evenals vorig jaar zal het corso ook langs Keukenhof rijden.
Het corso komt 's avonds rond 21.30 uur verlicht het centrum van Haarlem binnen. Zondag 26 april staan de praalwagens op de Gedempte Oude Gracht/Nassaulaan opgesteld.
Behalve dat het Bloemencorso van de Bollenstreek het enige evenement van dit kaliber is dat zich afspeelt in het voorjaar, is het eveneens het enige corso dat wordt opgebouwd met bolbloemen zoals hyacinten, tulpen en narcissen. Niet voor niets wordt het Bloemencorso van de Bollenstreek ook wel het gezicht van de lente genoemd, want geen corso kan zich meten met de unieke lentekleuren en geuren die dit omgeeft. Het corsothema is in 2015 “200 jaar Koninkrijk”.
De optocht bestaat uit zo'n twintig praalwagens en wel meer dan dertig rijk met bloemen versierde luxe en bijzondere wagens. Voor een extra feestelijke uitstraling wordt de stoet begeleid door muziekkorpsen. Langs de gehele route is er voldoende ruimte voor de vele honderdduizenden bezoekers.
