The Battle of Saragarhi was a last-stand battle fought before the Tirah Campaign on 12 September 1897 between the British India j and Afghan tribesmen. On 12 September 1897, an estimated 12,000 - 24,000 Orakzai and Afridi tribesmen were seen near Gogra, at Samana Suk, and around Saragarhi, cutting off Fort Gulistan from Fort Lockhart. The Afghans attacked the outpost of Saragarhi where thousands of them swarmed and surrounded the fort, preparing to assault it. Led by Havildar Ishar Singh, the 21 soldiers in the fort-all of whom were Sikha chose to fight to the death, in what is considered by some military historians as one of the most courageous battles in history. The post was recaptured two days later by another British Indian contingent.
This is a true story where Indian Sikh regiment's 21 soldiers were defending a British fort (India was under British rule then) in Afghanistan against 10000 invaders. This is considered to be one of the bravest battles ever fought in human history. Obviously all Sikh soldiers died but the bravery with which they fought is an unimaginable feat. They managed to hold off the invaders for entire day till later British reinforcements arrived and recaptured the fort. Great TRUE story and a must watch movie.
This battle is still and always remain pride for all Indians across world. We love the bravery of our sikh brothers. Even now they are standing tall on all Indian borders.

I know it may look unreal . But it's much more than real. There are written records, newspaper cuttings from London, australia. British officers witnessed this battle from another distant fort and were in contact with signal man. The last guy left signal post and killed 21-22 while on fire which was also witnessed by british officers. He was only 19 or 20 year old at that time.
