@Games Account indeed, but the truth is that 36 Sikh regiment was British Indian army back than, and there were no paramveer chakra or Indian government, so the Victoria cross was technically the top bravery award for any india soldier,,,
And you know lacs of soldiers have taken part in World War 1, 2 under the British flag...
I understand your feelings but such to such h dost

@@ravicharan8456, you are absolutely right. Small correction:
They received the Indian Order of Merit (IOM), not the VC. The VC was reserved for white British soldiers only. So, while the Indian soldiers technically worked for the British Raj at the time, there were some things that were there to remind them that they were not full British soldiers, like lower pay and different medals (along with a lower cash prizes for their widows and families).

21 against 10,000 sounds impossible , yes! The battle is not about who won but the sheer courage the soldiers had to take them head on! And how!! Indians are not cowards - that’s what it represents!

This is a true story guys. They prevent the capture of forts and foils the uprising of Afghans. Have they been not there to fight the result was Afghan victory. They stopped the Afghan for whole day and foils their plan. That’s the pinnacle of bravery ever exhibited in any war ever and that is why they were awarded the highest gallantry award to all 21 Sikh soldiers and even British parliament honoured them.
The 21 Sikh non-commissioned officers and soldiers who died in the Battle of Saragarhi were from the Majha region of Punjab and were posthumously awarded the Indian Order of Merit, at that time the highest gallantry award which an Indian soldier could receive. The corresponding gallantry award was the Victoria Cross. The award is equivalent to today's Param Vir Chakra awarded by the President of India.
The modern Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army continues to commemorate the Battle of Saragarhi on 12 September each year as the Regimental Battle Honours Day.

the battle was in visual and signal line of sight of 2 british forts, who both documented the battle. All 21 got british highest military honour.. Not a fantasy and battle lasted almost whole day, in end, over 600 afgan bodies were counted, all 21 sikhs were out of bullets, and in hundreds death of afgan could be seen by blade.. When they felt going in would be a death trap, they set place in fire, with objective to see sikhs shout as they burn. The final defiance was to only give sikh battle cry as they burnt alive..
This completely broke the afgan sprit and they had no more heart to fight any further.. this is not a fictitious battle of 300, but real one. Many photo of aftermath of that battle still exist and can be seen in Internet. The stronghold was completely in ruins.. that 10000 also had some artillery as documented by british, though not shown in film, they used it to plumet the outpost first, but they still had to go inside to fight and finish 21 sikh soldiers .

The Battle of Saragarhi was a last-stand battle fought before the Tirah Campaign on 12 September 1897 between the British Raj and Afghan tribesmen. On 12 September 1897, an estimated 12,000 - 24,000 Orakzai and Afridi tribesmen were seen near Gogra, at Samana Suk, and around Saragarhi, cutting off Fort Gulistan from Fort Lockhart. The Afghans attacked the outpost of Saragarhi where thousands of them swarmed and surrounded the fort, preparing to assault it . Led by Havildar Ishar Singh, the 21 soldiers in the fort-all of whom were Sikhs-chose to fight to the death, in what is considered by some military historians as one of the most courageous battles in history. The post was recaptured two days later by another British Indian contingent.
    Date: 12 September, 1897
Location: Tirah, North-West Frontier Province, British India
    33°33′15″N 70°53′15″E
    Result: Strategic British victory
    Commanders and leaders:
    Indian British Army -Ishar Singh.
    Afghan Army - Gul Badshah.
    Strength:
Indian British Army: 21 Sikh Soldiers.
    Afghan Army: 12,000-24,000 Afghan Tribesmen.
    Casualties and losses:
    Indian British Army: 21 killed.
Afghan Army: About 1400 killed and Many more wounded.
    Order of Merit
The 21 Sikh non-commissioned officers and soldiers who died in the Battle of Saragarhi were from the Majha region of Punjab and were posthumously awarded the Indian Order of Merit, at that time the highest gallantry award which an Indian soldier could receive. The corresponding gallantry award was the Victoria Cross. The award is equivalent to today's Param Vir Chakra awarded by the President of India.
The Battle at Saragarhi is one of eight stories of collective bravery published by UNESCO. About 10,000 to 12,000 Pathans surrounded the Saragarhi fort, which was being guarded by only 21 Sikh soldiers.
The battle continued for seven hours and Sikh soldiers kept felling one after another. No support or supplies came but the soldiers were told to stick to their guns. In the meantime, the Pathans asked the Sikh soldiers to surrender but they preferred to die fighting

Details of the Battle of Saragarhi are considered fairly accurate because Sepoy Gurmukh Singh signalled events to Fort Lockhart by heliograph[16] as they occurred.[14]
Around 09:00, approximately 6,000-10,000 Afghans reach the signalling post at Saragarhi.
Sepoy Gurmukh Singh signals to Colonel Haughton, situated in Fort Lockhart, that they are under attack.
Haughton states he cannot send immediate help to Saragarhi.
The soldiers in Saragarhi decide to fight to the last to prevent the enemy from reaching the forts.
Sepoy Bhagwan Singh is the first soldier to be killed and Naik Lal Singh is seriously wounded.
Naik Lal Singh and Sepoy Jiwa Singh reportedly carry the body of Bhagwan Singh back to the inner layer of the post.
The Afghans break a portion of the wall of the picket.
Haughton signals that he has estimated that there are between 10,000 and 14,000 Pashtuns attacking Saragarhi.
The leaders of the Pashtun forces reportedly make promises to the soldiers to entice them to surrender.
Reportedly two determined attempts are made to rush open the gate, but are unsuccessful.
    Later, the wall is breached.
Thereafter, some of the fiercest hand-to-hand fighting occurs.
In an act of outstanding bravery, Havildar Ishar Singh orders his men to fall back into the inner layer, whilst he remains to cover their retreat. However, this is breached and all but one of the defending soldiers are killed, along with many of the Pashtuns.
Sepoy Gurmukh Singh, who communicated the battle to Haughton, is the last surviving defender. His last message is for permission to pick up his rifle. Upon receiving permission he packs up the heliograph and holds the door of his signalling shed. He is stated to have killed 40 Afghans, the Pashtuns having to set fire to the post to kill him. As he is dying, he is said to have yelled repeatedly the Sikh battle cry "Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal!" ("One will be blessed eternally, who says that God is the ultimate truth!").
Having destroyed Saragarhi, the Afghans turned their attention to Fort Gulistan, but they had been delayed too long, and reinforcements arrived there in the night of 13-14 September, before the fort could be captured.[2] The Pashtuns later admitted that they had lost about 600 killed[17] and many more wounded[18] during the engagement against the 21 Sikh soldiers, but some 1400 bodies[9] are said to have been seen around the ruined post when the relief party arrived (however, the fort had been retaken, on 14 September, by the use of intensive artillery fire,[8] which may have caused some casualties). The total casualties in the entire campaign, including the Battle of Saragarhi, numbered around 4,800.[whose?]
    Weapons
The weapons given and used by the Indian troops were of an older generation compared to the small arms issued to British troops. This was intentionally done after the Indian Mutiny of 1857 to prevent any further mutinies and uprisings from getting out of hand.[19] The Afghans used the original and copy of Martini-Henry rifles. The Martini-Henry was copied on a large scale by North-West Frontier Province gunsmiths. The chief manufacturers were the Adam Khel Afridi, who lived around the Khyber Pass. The Khyber Pass gunsmiths first acquired examples of the various British service arms during nineteenth-century British military expeditions in the North-West Frontier, which they used to make copies.[20]
    Soldiers
The names of the 21 Sikh soldiers were:[2][21]
Havildar Ishar Singh (regimental number 165)
    Naik Lal Singh (332)
    Lance Naik Chanda Singh (546)
    Sepoy Sundar Singh (1321)

History of indian warriors is not yet been learned about or appreciated by the world.
Bahubali was fictional story but this was a true story.
10,000 Afghan soldiers attacked a fort in sargadhi village and the attack was well defended by 21 sikh soldiers from indian British army.
Approximately 600 Afghan soldiers died and many more severly wounded which eventually led to retreat of Afghans.
All 21 sikh soldiers died seving their homeland.
P.S. - Another example of Indian warriors is the last battle of Alexander shown in the movie "Alexander". The king who is shown riding the elephant is an Indian king named "Porus" .
