I think he will be great in the booth next year at FOX and his insight will likely make the broadcasts at least slightly more watchable.

If it wasn't for the new car, the last of the Winston Cup guys would have rode off into the sunset together this weekend.

As far as racing rock stars, Harvick set that bar very high. As a fan, that last week was rough, knowing that it was his last race. It really set in that Monday of the Phoenix race. Saw the tik tok of the last trip of the 4 car hauler heading out……..just so many highlights and memories that week. Then, saw the interview when Kevin said there isn’t a next week (he stated it in more than one interview) and as a fan, that’s exactly what I was thinking before I even heard him say it. Thanks for the many memories, Kevin. 4Ever🥲

It tickled me to see both Dale Jr. & Mr. Harvick sportin' glasses and, not sunglasses. The kind of lenses that help our aging eyes to see.
This past year I've made the switch to them myself.
That's a wild transition for the dude that had sunglasses on his head 24/7/365 for 30 some years.
Back in the day, i attended the Fall race at Rockingham in November of 01'. That was the first race I'd been to since Atlanta the previous Fall.
The gentleman working Mr. Harvick's merchandise trailer handed me a Sharpie & told me I could write on it wherever I wished.
I left a sincere note for Mr. Harvick there by the couplers for the brakes. My words were the only ones on that sheet of steel so, I'm still guessin' the driver of the rig read em'. Hopefully, he passed them along.
Mr. Mike Davis, maybe this post will be read by your eyes too.
I give much gratitude to you Sir for making me walk further on my journey.
I told you on the phone back in November of 19' that I'd never quit workin' & tryin' to gain that Volume that can, shall, & will help so many suffering Veterans.
    Always keep your word.

It was emotional when Dale died, when you got tapped to drive, when you beat Gordo for your first win in 3rd start and this past week watching you retire after a storied career with dignity and truely grateful for what nascar provided for you. There was a reason dale and richard hired you before he died. They saw something, they had the intuition unseen. Richard planted you in a seat that most would have crumbled trying to fill. You took it and handled it the best you could and gave us all dale fans another 20+ years of healing and entertainment. That my friend is worthy of a great retirement that you motherfucking earned. I really like what he Kevin was saying at the end there about making the drivers the stars that they should. That's one of the main things that's been missing over the last decade to decade and a half. The NASCAR brand and their 'playoff system' became the star of the show and it's cost the sport a lot of fans both those that left and those that would have been interested if they had a reason to be interested like the drivers and the competition. The suits completely lost sight of what's actually important. Hint: It's not them or their ideas. NASCAR needs "rock star" drivers that potential fans can identify with or feel some sort of way about. The drivers are the stars, not them and not their brand. Without the drivers and the fans that root for them, there is no NASCAR. Those suits need to recognize that and get their egos out of the way so that the sport can become what it should be. These guys are as good at what they do as any other professional athlete or any other racings series, like F1, and the public needs to know that, and it's NASCAR's job to find ways to show it. Promote the drivers first and the brand of NASCAR will benefit from it.

NASCAR couldn't ask for a better ambassador for the sport. Hopefully it isn't the last time we see Kevin race, hopefully he does the Jr approach of showing up for the odd Xfinity race at his favourite tracks for the next few years.

harvick was the last to walk that i liked. but nascar walked away from me years ago instead of it being about racing they decided to be the professional wrestling version of racing with all the bs gimmick crap.

Son just told me this: Harvick’s first race
    Rockingham
    Pole sitter: 24 car
    Race winner: 1 car
    His last race;
    Pole sitter: 24 car
    Race winner: 1 car
    Think about it…. 🤔

It seems like it was just yesterday when Dale and Kevin (and Matt and Kurt and Ryan and Jimmy) were the 2004 Gillette Young Guns of NASCAR
Why isn't NASCAR doing something like that for Blaney and Elliot and Chastain and LaJoy ..... You know young guys in NASCAR with personality being spotlighted like they were 20 years ago

I was a dedicated nascar fan right up to 1 or 2 years after the chase point system. Then stopped watching all together. Forgot all about nascar. Ross Chastain got me a watching again. The point system keeps it hard to be interesting.

I couldn't stomach Harvick the racer his entire career as a Nascar fan.
As he retires, I'm going to miss disliking him in a race car.
It was never real hate. It was just a fun part of being a fan. Glad he had one hell of a career, even though I was on the other side of the fence, him winning races and championships made every weekend and season fun. Guess I'll have to go find another favorite to hate driver.
