Harry Gant does not age, he looks just about the same as he did in the 90s. Drivers like Harry Gant is what I feel Nascar is missing today, someone that is very relatable. Too many rich kids behind the wheel today.

Too many rich kids is because that’s what it takes nowadays. All about what or how much money you can bring in. Driving is secondary. Harry was my favorite driver back in the day.

My brother Tim strikes again! Mitchell, Harry is one the nicest and most genuine gentleman you will ever meet. Tim was friends with a man named W.D. Goad in Virginia, and he put on the best car shows you've ever seen. For 4 or 5 years we went to his huge car show in Lexington that he did for charity. Tim was responsible for Harry, Bobby and Donnie Allison, Red Farmer, Dave Marcis and several others for showing up and supporting the show. That's where Tim and Bobby unveiled the Charger Daytona in fact. Thank you for helping Tim keep all these legends alive and relevant. I appreciate you and Logan working so hard doing this. Regards.......Buck Walker

Your welcome you guys. My brother is amazing to me, and always has been. He's such an extrovert and I'm the introvert. When W.D. Goad was alive, besides the 1,000 vehicle car shows, he'd always put us up in a great hotel around the corner from the show. It was a lot fun going down to the lobby and listen to Bobby and Donnie, Red, Harry, Dave Marcis, and several other historic drivers tell stories. The time would go by so quickly it was unbelievable. There I was, listening and talking to my heroes from NASCAR talking to me like I was one of them. Like I said Mitchell, you didn't have to ask many questions, and I haven't seen Harry this happy in a long time. I think he enjoyed this video interview more than the rest of us. Keep up the great work. 😊

What a lovely gift to give us today! I’m thankful for Harry Gant, a man who clearly made a deal at a crossroads somewhere to look as great in his 80’s as he looked in his 50’s when he became Mr. September. Those writers who coined him as Handsome Harry Gant got it right, my goodness!
What a wonderful figure who competed through the golden years of Stock Car racing, from short track champion, to the “Bandit” team with Burt Reynolds and Hal Needham, to winning Winson Cup races into the 90’s! And what a raconteur - though I’ve decided that a secret weapon to talking NASCAR history is having a North Carolina country accent. I could listen to Harry for hours, just like I could to Richard Petty, Ned Jarrett, or the the dearly departed Junior Johnson. Appreciate this, man!

I'm visiting my 85 year old father for Thanksgiving. I know the feeling about speaking loudly, AKA yelling, especially as I live in a quite spot in the woods of New Hampshire thanks to him. He may be a marine biologist still writing for various publications but he's also the reason I'm a gearhead and why I'm hear I mean here. He literally tricked me when I was 14, 39 years ago by using the wrong line on the crank pulley of his car during a valve adjustment to see if I could figure it out. I'm thankful for him, these great people in racing and you and yours for something I'd never have thought possible yet I'm in their shops listening to stories like my dad tells which are priceless to never be replicated again. Humble is what I strive to be but will never compare to those before me.

I could listen to guys like Harry Gant talk for hours. This guy is a national treasure.
There is so much to learn from some of the older folk just by listening.
Kudos to the interviewer for not interrupting and just letting it unfold!
I remember when Harry was probably about 50 years old, he would walk into the drivers meeting on his hands. I also remember after a long summer race younger drivers were sliding down the sides of their cars and could no longer stand (totally exhausted), and Harry would be standing a few feet away doing a TV interview as cool as a cucumber. He was in incredible shape. A legend, and pure Americana.

Yep. NASCAR is missing drivers like Harry Gant. He truly is a gentleman and a legend. They don't make drivers like Harry anymore.Today, NASCAR has a giant hole it cannot fill. And never will. Not putting down any of today's drivers, but they will never fill the hole left behind by guys like Harry, Dale, king Richard, David Pearson....the list is long. NASCAR with the nonsense it's become with the new cars, the playoffs, the cookie cutter cars and tracks is it's own worse enemy. They won't learn from their past. It's all about money today. Not the crews or the drivers.

Mitchell, Logan, This has to be one of my favorite videos yet, Harry Gant is a down to earth real person. My Father in law was a wheel with US Tobacco Company and I was lucky enough to get to know Harry Gant. I remember Harry's impressive haul from 1991 that gave him the nickname "Mr. September". That was the year when I got satellite TV and was able to watch all of the races for the first time, which really allowed me to get into the sport. I was only 14 at the time and thought it was cool as hell for an "old guy" (Harry was 51 then) to be kicking everyone's asses in Cup and the Busch Series. I quickly became a fan of Gant and always pulled for him until he retired from Cup after 1994.

Harry Gant was and is one of my all time favorite drivers and personalities. He never was a "race car driver". He was hard working handsome Harry Gant who happened to drive the wheels off race cars whenever he wasn't working on a house. I was never an Earnhardt fan and loved watching Harry put it on Dale with his smoothness and wisdom. There are at least 20 people in the Hall of Fame less deserving than Harry to be in the Hall of Fame imo. Late 1991 was something to watch!! Thanks for bringing us this content as my favorite time of Nascar was from 83 to the late 90's and many of the people featured on this channel are my sentimental favorites personalities in the sport.

Years ago I was so lucky to win dinner with Harry Gant,Richard Petty and Kyle Petty in Memphis Tn as they rode through on the Kyle Petty Charity Ride. I had my 7 year old son with me, he didn’t know who they where, his guy was Jeff Gordon. While eating Harry looked at me and said why aren’t you eating that roast beef like your boy?
I told him I am little taken back eating with my two hero’s the Bandit and the King! I’ll never forget what he said “son all we did was drive little faster than most in circles” Lol. He looks the same and he and Richard have not changed. So glad he is healthy and enjoying these cars like they should be, driven! Thank you for this great interview, may God continue to bless the Bandit with health and safe driving!

    • @lonniehawkins582

I give the bridesmaid trophy to another great driver .
Mr.Mark Martin . He was great got left at the altar and now mostly forgotten by short attention span fans, it'd funny without Winston big bill around the effect of losing the intimidator .
All accumulated to Nascar losing its hold on loyal fans with taking a sport far away from its true fan base.
Now it's so different, it was a southern sport and it's roots needed to stay simple . It got all about money over matter. The fans and there connection to the drivers in loyalty and friendship left the sport . It just got to complicated grew to fast and now we're left with marketing and product .being ahead of it all we all lost that thing that made it feel like a family .Dale Earnhardt was like part of our family when he died Nascar lost its most important face . It's still rattles the foundation that's left .

Harry is amazing, what a sharp mind. It’s wonderful to see a man who has had such a full life yet still gets excited recalling his life.

I got home from Thanksgiving dinner, and turned on the TV and saw your show, with Harry Gant. And I got so excited! I absolutely loved Harry Gantt exclamation point with that skull Bandit. He was one of my all-time favorites. They said he was strong as a bull. And I was shocked to see how good he still looks to this day. And I love the stories he tells. This interview of past race car drivers has been my absolute favorite! And can't wait to show my mother, yes my mother is a huge Nascar fan. We watch the races every Sunday at her house me and my pops. We were really into NASCAR the 80s and 90s. My mother still watches that she's 83. But thank you again for putting him on one of your shoes. I'm going to save this video for future reference. Thanks again for a wonderful show I really appreciate it! Keep up the good work brother

The BANDIT Handsome Harry GANT. . .Mr September. He was always one of my favorites and just a normal blue collar guy. No other driver is as close to a "normal guy" than ole Harry. He would run a 500 mile race on a 100° day and get out of the car and not even be sweating hard. Other drivers would have to be poured out of their car and given oxygen, IV fluids and everything else. Not the BANDIT. Another top notch video from you guys. Really appreciate what y'all do and are doing. Hope your Thanksgiving was blessed. Have a great weekend. . . . JW. Hueytown Alabama
