To reset the tyre pressure light after you've put air in, you need to go into the settings menu and accept the new pressures and the light will go out. 👍
It's usually a button on the dash which you press and hold, usually near the gear knob. On this car is done through the in car entertainment. Press Car button, then setup then tyres, set and confirm.
Carly is a rip-off. No refunds and they hide the fact that it's subscription-based. Deceptive advertising, sketchy business practices, no refunds, questionable value/functionality vs a standalone OBD2 scanner.
Great video. Ive just bought a carly so wen it comes i hope it has lots to customise. Im on my 3rd GTD. Had a mk 7 man then a mk 7.5 dsg & now ive got a mk 8 DSG. Great cars & lots of fun to drive.
TPS are a Pain in the arse imo who needs it. However sometimes the settings option works but you will find that the dealers will tell you to to over inflate the tyres to highest manual allows and run for 25 or so miles and car” learns” then light will go off as if by magic then recheck and set tyres to your desire. Frustrating as hell but a solution that has worked for me. The cheaper obd scanners don’t work on lots of newer cars better off getting more expensive ones in your position
You should talk about the suspension etc. This is a GTI with a diesel so you get gobs of torque. Drive to its strengths. I’ve had a Mk5 TDI 77kw with a few mods to brakes and interior it’s fast and comfortable. I’m keen to get a bargain GTD now!
I've got a mk7 16 plate 5dr one of these exactly the same colour...They are a lovely looking car and have all the toys on them...The only reason I picked my GTD over the R was the running costs and the insurance difference...Mine is very quick and a Golf GTD imo is spot on for what I need...Mine has just under 57k on the clock and I wouldn't change it at the moment as it does everything I want without robbing me.. Problems to look out for are leaks on the boot (either thru boot handle or thru the void in the boot behind the rear lights on both sides) Both are relatively cheap fixes but can be a pain...Trust me u shouldn't have this car long Super Joe as they are very desirable and something us men in our 40's+ want with the look of them and some power under your foot...U can turn the start stop off on the centre console if u want as well...Would be interested to see a follow up on this car on TH-cam m8...👏🏻👏🏻
I was going to buy a Golf R a while back but ended up getting a Renault Megane due to the insurance on the Golf R being just under a Million Pound. Might have to look into getting a low mileage GTD...
Don't bother with carly, I tried it and it was an absolute waste of time, the app was very laggy, full of annoying upselling adverts and for coding different settings to your car, just don't use it, it gives you no help or clue as to what you're changing, in my experience obd eleven is far superior for VAG group vehicles, customer service was hopeless and no help, basically it was like tough shit mate, we've got your money now and we're not giving you it back, so my advise is avoid. !!!
This is what I've got. It doesn't work. Took 3 weeks to arrive and apparently upto 14 days for help as it's technical. No refund either with my deal, cause I ticked a box.
Settings menu on the Golf will allow you to adjust the steering weight, suspension, the auto locking, tyre pressures, lighting, etc so that will save you buying a Carly if you don't already have one! 😂 Stage 1 remap on a GTD will give it near-GTI levels of performance (except rev limit, obvs) 😁 Great review! Unfortunately the 3-door manual GTD is the least desirable version, the size and weight of the doors will become tiresome when in a car park!

Hi Joe. I have to say that it's a Lovely Car. A GTD. Nice Colour. And proper fast. Thanks Alex. 😅 🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮 Oh Joe Carly doesn't work over here in Ireland Bro.
I've got the 2017 se model stage 1 tune at 190 bhp with bilstein b8s tartan seats 32k when I bought it 3 years ago bought it for 20k at vw dealer , I will never have another car 😂 The carly app looks quite handy although i have obd 11
It was probably cheap because CUNA or CUMA (one of them) 2.0 TDI takes so much oil, which is 1000ml over 100km which is actually to do with rings on pistons.
5000 miles between service I tend to do oil changes every 5k for peace of mind so if it don’t burn much much evey 5000 miles not too fused one I’m looking at is at 132k miles
@@spoodydude4104 depends how you drive it 👍 I’ve got a 65 plate gtd with dsg box Cuna engine 70,000 miles , if you drive it around in eco mode it uses hardly any oil , i generally drive around in sport mode and boot it after it’s up to temp to keep the dpf clear as the wife does lots of short trips weekly It used to use 700ml per 10,000 miles when vw used 5w30 oil They changed the grade recommended last year to 0w30 now it uses 1100ml per 10,000
Tried carly on 2 x diffrent cars x2 diffrent manufacturers. Both 2019 onwards and the carly does absolutely nothing and has a cheap sence to it , I love your videos but carly is rubbish .
I had the adsatly the same car but a 13 plate GTD 184 had it stolen and written off. Infact.ive had 5 Golfs over the last 22 years and 2 were robbed of the drive. 1st was only brand new car I've ever bought an 01 150 PD GT TDI not stolen had it 4 years sold it , followed by a 53 plate 130 GT TDI stolen and written off at about 5 years old, followed by 2 Mk5 GT TDI 140s then the 13plate 184 GTD as I have no luck keeping them .im never buying another and now by Leon's.
i rate it but did you not say it would be better as an estate , i still got that vw golf r estate 7.5 so a much improved version and i am never getting rid of it lol
What I've noticed people that advertise Carly do it on German cars only try it on another brand Peugeot Renault Vauxhall Carly dose not work very good on them. Ps nice car though
Me too, bought it with a discount for my Mercedes, now it seems to be a yearly subscription, paying/getting charged the 'full' price which they don't mansion... Further more: I bought it for 'coding' but that menu isn't even there, they have no access. So it is a 'bad' buy.
Carly does have the nasty business practice of hiding that the price is actually a yearly subscription. Canceling your sub can only be done over the phone. Be warned. Scanner itself and the app work fine though.
Shame you have been watching too much American content and put the word super before everything , super annoying. Apart from that usual good watchable content 👍

Another lovely car, you got some great stock in. Love the video's, keep them going. ❤
Thanks!
Nice torquey hatch, not surprised the youngsters like it. Carly OBD nice bit of kit and gives lot of information 5 🌟 🤩

Seat Leon FR TDi same year is identical underneath & fantastic value for money with £20 roadtax & easily long term ave of 58mpg its still a no brainer
Just bought 1 love it as a daily
Perfect video

Nice car joe, thers definitely a profit in this car.looks great. On a different note,to convert kilometres to miles you divide the mile value by 1.609 .

Prefer a 5 door car. Far more convenient and the doors are smaller.Think it's an age thing. Had a 5 door Gti pp fabulous car
look so much better with 3 doors though
I find the 3 door version fine, for a 3 door the doors arn't big at all on the Golf.🎉

What is an ODB?! For a 10 year old car it’s really got a lot so I’m pretty sure will sell really fast for you
Good stuff
will the carly run the fuel pumps to prime the motor after a fuel filter change? I have a 2012 tdi
Carly is a rip off. Makes you purchase it, then it makes you pay even more after you gotten it. Useless without a "premium" subscription.
I’ve just bought a Carly scanner Joe. If I can’t get it to work, I’m blaming you 😂
If I can make it work. Anyone can! 😂

My experience too, 2 x VAG cars. Total waste of money.
Barely any of the coding features work.

I'm a dissatisfied Carly customer who keeps getting charged to use their device. It might be wiser to invest in a traditional car scan tool instead.

OBDEleven is way better value for money than Carly.
Ioved mine, but I lost it, but at least I did all the mods before it walked off. I think it disappeared when it was serviced....
BEWARE!!!! Carly is a renewable subscription! NOT RECOMMENDED for the Home Mechanic DIYer.
Carly is a scam and its completely useless waste of money!!
