    One thing I forgot to mention, since all temples also produce nature gems for you, you are even more incentivized to just build them in every forest possible.

      It is important to mention that temples only produce gems up to your dom strength. So if you have dom5 the first five (technically six) temples produce gems then only every five temples after that (because your dom strength increases for every 5 temples) produce a single gem. So there is a bit of an incentive to take a higher dom. I wonder if there is a viable dom10 build that goes all in on freespawn and summons. Might be a pipe dream.

      @@cringephodelI've been trying to play around with them more lately to try things out, but I'm not really set on any strategy yet to play them in Dom6. In general Illwinter seems to have changed a lot about the nation since Dom5 so a lot of older habits are much less effective.

    This faction always seemed like the coolest but also one of the hardest faction to play.

    What i really like about the game, its unique nations you can play. I mean, i play Mekone right now and concept of giants enslaving humans and using them like workforce or canon fodder in battles and oppress them via tradition of Krypteion, aka kill human population because they rebel anyway, so why not. Is so simple, yet so cool and now there is nation with undead elephants in the game which is cool too. I am glad that i stumble upon this gem of the game, great video and thumbnail btw 😝.

      I posted a new player guide a few weeks ago if that interests you. Mostly some ideas on how to get started as someone totally new.

      watch lucid's ubar and yomi series'. For the yomi series there is a discussion of how the new repel mechanic works. Fascinating to watch the community figure out something busted in real time. And then the Ubar series is great because it is a defensive war against 3 other players. Those are the pieces of content that really solidified my obsession with this game. Thrice horned boar is great for the memes I will say. Very humorous and internet savvy content creator. The TNN green pitbulls crack me up every time

    Selling point for base minotaurs is their cheap recruitment points cost you can probably pump like 24 of these tramplers per turn or so with just base income . 40 gold cost is only downside. Could have a place for opener of that sort.

      Probably, I don’t have a priority list or anything for what to talk about.

    Lion pelt is so much worse now. 1/3rd of your carrion lords can cast stoneskin. 1/3rd can cast invulnerability. 1/3rd can cast stygian skin. 18 invuln? garbage. waste of gems. Vine shield is not as good as it was either. I do like the combo of fluffing gift of displacement and equipping an eye shield.

    Anyone with mp experience wanna chime in a little ideas early game goals mid game late ect… what’s good what’s a trap

    • @CairnEnjoyer
      @CairnEnjoyer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      In the video I mentioned some good goals to set for yourself, definitely rushing Mother Oak as you will NEED as many nature gems as you can get, and you should be using them all if you can. You can possibly get crazy nature income as Asphodel by mid-late game but it requires a lot of setup and investment. After MO, twiceborn is probably your next priority and securing death income through aggressive site searching to twiceborn every non-undead mage. After that it’s up to you, maybe continue down enchant or conjuration, or other paths.
      I’d also say by mid-game you should try to reach Construction 5 to get your most valuable thugging gear online and send out your twiceborned panni or carrion lords as raiders. With G4 you can afford a lot of raiding and you should be very aggressive as asphodel since you are weak otherwise if you can’t scale ASAP.

      @CairnEnjoyer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’d also say consider a really aggressive god/bless choice even if it’s sub-optimal long term because the value you will get our of early fast expansion in MP far outweighs any late game magic diversity or specific bless. You have a lot of options going down conjuration to diversity your magic anyway without a God.

      I have found that enchantment is a trap now. Where normally death/popkill nations rush for enchant 5 for horde of skeletons. Animate tree in Alteration and warrior illusion in Evocation (weird place for it) do a decent job of producing chaff. Not to mention howl in Conjuration. I typically focus on the alteration, conjuration, and construction trees. Stuff like charm animal or straight up charm (for G random dryad hags with a booster) and the sleep spells can be useful in Thaum. One of the reasons you wanted Enchantment in dom5 as asphodel was twiceborn. Basically converting death gems and a panic apostate into a thug with no upkeep. Summoning carrion lords directly sucked because they didn't get the random path that recruited pans did. Now they do. And considering your N income is much higher, you would rather summon most of the time. Especially if you can cut a school of research. Another huge thing is new spells the dryads can cast. Dryads used to be absolutely useless in combat. They were blessing and regrowth casters for the most part. Tangle vines, sure. Vine arrow, maybe. But now they have access to glamour, and the new spells such as animate tree, vengeful vines, sleep vines. They have actual use in combat now. Particularly when fighting in a forest. As always mother oak (alt 5) is an essential global to rush for. Nature gems are like crack. Alt 5 also puts you in range for Alt 6 (soul vortex) which is essential for thugs. As for a bless I always like a bit of fire resistance. And anything that helps your sacreds kill a fire elemental or survive longer is good. The carrion bow has taken sag carcasses to the next level. There are battles where you GAIN manikins. It can get nuts. Your basic strategy in a 1v1 is to send disposable groups of freespawn to take vulnerable provinces. And deploy your main stack carefully and strategically where necessary. Constant pressure. The second you are on the back foot you are losing. You can win just by being in more places than your opponent can oppose you. There are times where you don't even want to assault a fort with chaff. You send in 3 heavily geared thugs to take care of business. Obviously. enchantment is something you want later. For rigor mortis, foul vapors, and life after death. (Foul vapors isn't nearly as good anymore) But I feel your early research is far more focused. You can even go Alt 7 for bone grinding. It used to be you needed Alt5, Enchant5, Const4. And you needed them 10 turns ago. Now you can go conj3, Alt 5 and you have a real base to work with. Tag in Evo2 for warrior illusion and your dryads are that much better. Scales: you want growth4 real bad. You want magic3 kind of bad. You can almost get away with growth 3, because your cap has a site that increases growth and then Growth5 in a province spreads. I almost always take Cold2 because your guys have cold res and are encumbrance neutral. It hurts people invading you more than it hurts you. Luck is great, especially with a high dom. Because your gold income converges to zero. There is a weird tension between high and low dom. Because higher dom means more temples produce gems/more freespawn and lower dom preserves gold income for longer. It is kind of a schizophrenic nation. But has some very interesting space for creative play as well. I hope that gives you something to think about. GL

      Enchant 4 is still important for Asphodel to cast twiceborn imo, Horde of Skellies is optional. Conjuration is probably a better path to push down as you have a lot of useful Conj spells to take advantage of for magic diversity especially.

    • @cringephodel
      @cringephodel 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@CairnEnjoyer Twiceborn has a much higher opportunity cost now. On average you have much fewer death gems than nature (temple gems FTW) and it used to be that twiceborned pans were your best thugs by far. But now you can summon thugs with H3. So they are preferable to twiceborned pans (who are merely sacred.) I guess I am just saying that you used to feel as though Enchant4 was an absolute necessity. But now you start the game with the ability to create better thug chassis. Twiceborn is more of a nice option than an absolute necessity. You do want rigor mortis and foul vapors in the toolbox eventually. And those incidentally nab you twiceborn. Game to game it depends on the forests you have to cast carrion fortress in. If you don't have many you are probably summoning carrion lords. I even summon carrion ladies (a horrible idea in 5) early game sometimes just to get ahead on research. These are fundamental changes to the way you play the nation compared to dom4 or dom5. Enchantment can be skipped in the early game. Whereas before it was one of the necessary yokes that broke the nation in 5
