    I'm a helicopter cine camera operator for a living, so I know how f*ckin expensive rigs can get. I must say, although this isn't a super cheap solution it's definitely all around the most reliable and streamlined that I've seen in some time. I love crane shots, but they're SO bulky and the amount of moving parts just throws wrenches into every planned shot. Well done!

    The rig is really nice! In my opinion it’s not a janky as you make is sound in the end…
    For the monitor mount, mule-carts or ratworksengineering are making special accessories to fit on the front headrest and mount any accessories using 1/4 20 screw
    For the remote start/stop did red change their Lemo pin for R/S ? I know that you can get a cable from tilta to trigger old dsmc 2 body from the nucleus
    Otherwise you might be able to use an adapter like bright tangerine trigger nato rail that get you a 3 pin fisher port to trigger the camera

    wow, this is new. i have been following studio kanal since the beginning and this video is very different from the previous ones. The color grading the composition of the videos using creative texts that sometimes interact with the background. very strong!!! I particularly like the color grading. If you would release a LUT with this effect I would buy it. the whole shots were more in the style of Asteroid City (Wes Anderson).

    You have multiple options for run/stop on your RED package. You could run a R/S cable from the Tilta motor to the R/S port on the camera and have R/S controlled on the Nucleus unit. You can also control R/S from the Ronin 2 controller with a DSMC2->R2 R/S cable.

    Super interesting how while I was watching this as an outsider I was thinking "all these batteries, why not just plug it in?" but you actually built to be battery/modular first, and then are going to add the ability after the fact to be plugged into the current truck because it offers that option.
    Just interesting how my initial thought was to build specific for the Rivian first, but you folks built for "any car with a hitch" first.

  • @captriskybiscuits8785

    For run stop I’d suggest using the nucleus and getting a 7pin to 3pin r/s cable. Should connect I think to the 24v 3pin rs on the front of the camera body and will also supply power to the motor. There’s also the 4 pin ctrl port but I’m not sure if the nucleus is capable of firing with that cable on the dsmc3 bodies. Haven’t tried yet. Looks like a nice setup! Don’t forget some safeties!

  • @uroszuraj3122
    @uroszuraj3122 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would go on SDI cable any day over the wireless video. Ronin has a nice connection for SDI via slipring and one cable going in the car shouldnt be a problem, specially if youll run power cables as well to the ronin. I had too many problems with wireless video in my life so if its possible i just do cables, specially if there is time to set up. Also less latency for a focuspuller.
    Also I would suggest to get the back of your truck black for any reflections in the hero car and put some rubber skirts on the back of the wheels for when you are driving on a dirt road...

    It's not a huge time savings, but the Tilta Nucleus controller will automatically turn on if it gets USB power. So, I use a USB cable, and a D-Tap cable just out of sheer convenience, especially since I don't care for the buttons on the unit.
