This is still one of my favorite Superman Movies!
After this, Kal-el was sent to an alternare universe that had a red sun which meant he couldnt use his powers. He changed his name to Ray Palmer and became a genius and slowly a multi-billionaire. with that money and his newly gained knowledge he built a suit that gave him different powers and became the atom and started continuing his old job of saving people

I absolutely loved this film: it's got some of the most memorable Superman-in-action scenes ever, and it was a beautiful tribute to Christopher Reeve's movies.

I loved Brandon Routh in this movie as Superman because it was more about the man and the continuation of his story than CGI, action fighting and doom and gloom. There was a vulnerability and human side of Superman Routh captures that was reminiscent of Christopher Reeve’s portrayal of Superman. I liked the simplicity and optimistic tone of this movie. I think if Routh had been older when cast (more acting experience behind him) with perhaps better writing, the movie would have been received better. He physically totally fits the bill for playing Superman though.

Late to the party, but Routh was the perfect followup to Reeves' Superman. The movie isn't perfect, but that had nothing to do with the outstanding performance Brandon Routh gave as the main character.

People can say what they will about this movie, but this film introduced me to the character of Superman and easily became my all time favorite superhero and I still love this movie to this day

There were plans to crossover the two new Batman and Superman reboots, even before MCU, but didn’t happen as we know. If Returns would have been successful, they wouldn’t have to reboot the Superman franchise again with Man of Steel

It's got way better storytelling elements, and Superman somehow feels more like Superman. It wasn't perfect, and I remember feeling underwhelmed when I saw it in theaters, but it's aged well and compared to MoS and BvS, the producers actually cared about storytelling, as opposed to 'splosions and breaking things.

Brandon Routh, for me, is the best Superman after Christopher Reeve. He brought humanity and vulnerability to the character which wasn't even present in the Christopher Reeve films. John Ottman's score was fantastic! I hope Brandon gets to become Superman again after 'Crisis...'.
Speaking facts...yet for some reason instead of bringing him back for a cameo in The Flash movie, WB decided to bring back a dead guy with cgi which looked weird and off instead of using BRANDON FKING ROUTH like hello?!?! They're the same character, not different versions so like why do cgi for Reeves Superman when u have Brandon who plays Reeves Superman

It's very rare that we get these sorts of crossovers that tie things in going back 53 years, apart from Star Trek. But to see that this Superman IS the Superman from Crisis, who IS the same Superman that Christopher Reeves played is just amazing

Superman Returns is pretty solid from start to finish. The visuals are stunning, the characters are pretty good, and the humor is decent.
Brandon Routh was outstanding in his role. He intended to make it a tribute to Christopher Reeve and with Dana Reeve’s blessing he did.

Superman Returns 2006 was way ahead of its time when it came out but watching it today I realize that it didn't deserve that this movie aged very well since it's the continuation of Superman 1 and 2 (by Christopher Reeve) and it's a movie full of homage beautiful 💙 and it's my favorite DC movie

one thing they got right that I've never seen done better: the shots of Superman flying over the streets maybe only 40-50 feet above, and all the people looking up as he hurtles by.. that's the wonderment you got as a kid reading the comic books

This movie was a great nastalgia trip for the classic superman movies as a tie in.
MoS is a great reboot and new way of telling the superman story anew.
Both movies are good for different reasons. I like them both. The plane scene in SR was amazing and the flight scene in MoS was one of the best scenes in any superhero movie.

+Aquabreeze They got a perfect Lex and Clark in this. Brandon Routh almost lots looks identical to Chris Reeve as Clark Kent. Kevin Spacey is probably the only actor alive who could get close to Gene Hackman in that role.
I just wish they had a better script to work with.

I may be late to the party, just recently got curious about superheroes.... but I'm realizing how much I love Superman!! A humble man that is genuinely good and goes to great lengths to help and serve humanity. Even though he is so different and almost all-powerful, he never displays arrogance or thinks he's better than others. He's got a heart of gold. He is selfless and compassionate. He doesn't expect praise in return. He just does what's right because that's the reward on itself. And ironically, people love him even more for that fearless generosity and pure purpose. I love Superman so much, and Brandon masterfully portrayed all his facets of personality. As Clark he is relatable, vulnerable, dorky and clumsy and sweet, as Supes he's confident, poised and assertive, exuding the healthiest masculinity, the best role model 💞 We do need Superman as a symbol of hope, as a reminder that Good still exists in the world and within us, as an aspiration of everything we can be 🙏🙏🙏
