    Thank you for the very detailed review of this saw. Very educational and informative w/o that nonsense music going on in the background like other reviewers have. For those that think SawStop sells based on fear, I'd like to rebut that, and say they sell on safety. Had I listened to a local SawStop sales rep from a local carpentry woodworking company, I would have saved myself the tip of my index finger, which I cut in half, and had an open displaced fracture of the index finger. Because of the severity of the cut, which happened on 2/21/21, I was transported to the local ER, admitted to the hospital, and had emergency surgery on 2/22/21. I have two pins in my index finger, and may end up losing the rest of the tip. Had I listened to the SawStop sales rep, I would still be cutting wood this week, instead of being all doped up on narcotics, antiinflammatory meds, and antibiotics. I did order this same exact jobsite saw after it was too late for my index finger, but I know the built in safety features will save other fingers from being cut off. My new saw will be here on 3/2/2021, and am looking forward to getting back at it...safely.

      Thank you!! Hopefully my videos have gotten a lot better quality since this one 😅
      I’m sorry about your finger, hopefully the new saw helps prevent any other accidents. I’m glad the technology is available for sure. Did you get the new Pro version of this or this exact one?

    I am awaiting the arrival of my new Sawstop Jobsite Pro. I am glad you told me about the by pass test feature. I have to keep telling myself how much a finger operation would cost to justify the $1629 this is costing me.

      That is what Saw Stop is banking on.. fear. .. it is a great motivator. I believe in profitable altruism.. I suggest they license out the technology to other manufacturers to better serve the wood working world.

      @@jeffhildreth9244 You must not have read about all that scandal. Seems the founder of SawStop or inventor or whatever he was allegedly offered the technology to other saw manufacturers who all turned him down. So he grabbed his football and went home. Then along comes Bosch with their own variation of flesh sensing technology which in my opinion is far superior to the SS version. In the Bosch system they use a firing cartridge that operates like the one that powers a safety air bag in a car. The big difference is that the Bosch system does not harm the blade or the cartridge which is a two shooter. You get two activations per cartridge and once again, the blade is untouched and therefore undamaged after activation. SS sues Bosch and a judge declares patent infringement and Bosch cannot import that saw into the US. So much for Dr Steven Goss is his name wanting to make the world safer for saw users. By the way, SS has been bought by the parent company of Festool.

    • @jeffhildreth9244
      @jeffhildreth9244 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeffstanley4593 I am well aware that Festool ( another company that price fixes) bought Saw Stop.
      If Saw Stop's intent was to make table saws safer for all users world wide, they would allow licensing of their technology. I believe that the Bosch, and as I recall , some other German engineers also came up with systems that are similar, easier and cheaper to make, use and cheaper to re-boot. It's all about profit and elevation of stock shares.
      The technology, were it an appliance or some sort of electronic game, would by a]=far less expensive.
      It is too bad that...........................delete... delete............delete............
      then the systems could be installed in quality machines at lower prices. Alas, not the case in my observation.
      My opinions .

    I didn’t mind the blade height adjustment on the dewalt. Kind of wish the sawstop didn’t have the super quick blade height adjustment. Makes fine adjustments harder.
    Still a great saw

    • @jeffstanley4593
      @jeffstanley4593 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joe you are living proof that you cannot please everyone. I just bought this saw and you are the first commenter to not like the blade height adjustment. I have watched a dozen or more vids on this. Tell me, do you like automatic transmissions? I just came off a table saw with the multi turn feature you like on the height adjustment. I do not like that feature.

    • @SYLTHECRU

      @@jeffstanley4593 I agree with Joe. The quick height adjustment does make it a little more difficult to get an exact height

    how much deflection does the fence have if pushed against it? and does it affect the cut measurements?

    • @MillisConstruction
      @MillisConstruction  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will deflect some at the back end, the front is completely solid though so about all the effect you could get is it possibly preventing binding at the back as it exits the blade. I haven’t noticed any issues with cuts being off

      @@MillisConstruction if you use a GRR-RIPPER it will result in an uneven cut. I learned that it the hard way and got rid of the jobsite for a PCS

    Is the table top flat left to right and front to back.?
    Have you taken a straight edge and feeler gauges to it ?
    What variance off of flat did you find. ?

    • @MillisConstruction
      @MillisConstruction  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re not perfect. It’s a jobsite saw. For that level precision I’d use my 3hp Sawstop PCS in the shop. You can definitely fit feeler gauges under it in locations. I’m not sure how much it was off as I did that right after I got it several years ago 😅

    • @jeffhildreth9244
      @jeffhildreth9244 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MillisConstruction "Not Perfect" ? Bought the saw a week ago. Grossly warped top. Saw Stop substandard in handling the situation. I sent them photographs, detailed graphs of the measurements on my saw ( they wanted photos of me using a straight edge and feeler gauges ( I found that to be comical if not insulting) and a chart showing that I had checked another 7 jobsite saws new and old requiring a 3 hour 90 mile trip) and all were withing dead flat to .008", averaging around .004-.005 out in a few small spots except for two Bosch, one new and one old, that both had one corner of the right front at .011 " . Saw Stop refused to give me their limitation specs. Mine was at .058" and .047" and the rest in the .011 range out of flatness. Saw Stop passed the buck to the dealer and the dealer was a complete professional and went overboard in getting the situation handled. The dealer was given the specification by Saw Stop of a max of .033" out of flatness. The saw went back to the dealer ( a trip of 200 miles) A full refund made. The defective saw is going back to Saw Stop ( luckily close to the dealer) the dealer will be getting a new saw in exchange. When the dealer gets the new saw they will check the table for flatness and call me if it is within specs. Saw Stop's statement of the most accurate jobsite saw on the market cannot be claimed based on this particular saw. The most exasperating part of this saga was Saw Stops "customer service" ; professionalism not in evidence. There is either a design, material or assembly/storage failing . There are videos of other buyers with the same problem who have noticed this, and some returned the saws. Just curious how much tolerance there is on your saw. May not matter to you but I was looking for an accurate saw and the Saw Stop brake feature was a bonus at a price I was willing to pay while accepting the "most accurate saw" advertising. . My 12" sliding table, 3hp saw is in storage while I build a new shop to replace the one I just sold after 22 years. Over 30 years making furniture, I need, and expect, accuracy. That is the function of a table saw by definition. Other's mileage may vary and their standards and expectations may be different than mine. Let's hope the next Saw Stop saw is "the most accurate jobsite saw ".

    • @MillisConstruction
      @MillisConstruction  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d dump it back on them in a heartbeat in that case. Mine was far flatter than my Dewalt was and that’s my main source of comparison there for jobsite saw quality as the ones I’ve used from Hitachi, Bosch, Skil etc were so poor in so many ways other than flatness that It’s ridiculous. There’s no excuse to not be the best they can be since they’re the priciest for sure.
      I’ve just had so many people mess with me about these at this point that want to do segmented Woodturning projects and things like that and that’s really not the design purpose of a jobsite saw. They need a real shop table saw to ever reach that level of precision. These get moved all the time, mines hauled in a truck bed every week, up and down stairs, banged around constantly and still performs very well. That’s what they’re made for. That’s why my reaction to your comment above.
      I’d still expect it to be within spec for sure though, just don’t expect PCS performance from it really.
      I agree with you, that’s pretty bad off in your description and I wouldn’t accept that. Hopefully they’ll get you fixed up. They’ve been really good with me on the phone every time I’ve called for help.

      @@MillisConstruction Thanks for the reply. Beware of a company that answer the phone " Hello".. Me " is this Saw Stop" ? Them "Yes" Me.." May I speak to customer service" ? Them.. in a tone that conveyed how fast can I get this guy off the phone. " This is customer service" Well that was interesting. They proceeded to pass the buck to the dealer.. this after i said I was already in touch with their service dept and are you aware of my situation? Down hill form there.
      I was a corporate clone and a coast to coast commuter .. I was a corporate trainer for automotive business management and customer service training for high line European auto makers. I know when I am being blown off.
      In the past prior to buying this saw, I had called Saw Stop for tech info not provided on their web site. They were ok to a bit over ok.. but nothing like their "customer service" dept .
      I have yet to get a follow up response (this is what professional do) from their own Cust Serv dept or their service dept after the saw return . Saw Stop lived up to my expectations.
