The *Rajya Puraskar Testing Camp* for Scouts is a state-level assessment camp where Scouts are evaluated for the prestigious *Rajya Puraskar Award**, also known as the **Governor’s Award**. This is one of the highest awards a Scout can earn at the state level in India. It serves as a bridge between the **Tritya Sopan* and the **Rashtrapati Puraskar (President's Award)**.
Key Features of the Rajya Puraskar Testing Camp:
1. **Eligibility**: Scouts must be registered with a recognized Scout group and must have completed the requirements for the Tritya Sopan badge. They should also have a certain level of proficiency in scouting skills, and meet the age and participation criteria set by the state scouting organization.
2. **Assessment Areas**: During the camp, Scouts are evaluated on various skills and knowledge areas, including:
**First Aid**: Knowledge of basic and advanced first aid procedures.
**Pioneering**: Skills like knotting, lashing, and building structures using ropes and poles.
**Camp Craft**: Setting up and maintaining a campsite, including pitching tents and cooking.
**Mapping and Compass**: Understanding map reading, route planning, and using a compass for navigation.
**Community Service**: Evidence of involvement in community service projects.
**Scouting Ideals**: Knowledge of the Scout Promise, Law, Motto, and history of scouting.
**Physical Fitness**: Physical activities and exercises to assess fitness levels.
**Proficiency Badges**: Demonstration of specialized skills through various proficiency badges.
3. **Duration**: The camp generally lasts for 4 to 5 days, though this may vary from state to state.
4. **Testing Process**: Scouts undergo a series of practical and theoretical tests. The assessment is usually conducted by qualified examiners appointed by the State Association. They evaluate each Scout's performance against a set of established criteria.
5. *Recognition**: Scouts who successfully pass the tests receive the **Rajya Puraskar Badge* and a certificate, usually presented by the State Governor or a high-ranking official.
Purpose of the Rajya Puraskar Testing Camp:
To encourage Scouts to develop a high standard of skills and knowledge in various scouting activities.
To promote self-discipline, leadership, and teamwork.
To prepare Scouts for the next level of recognition, the Rashtrapati Puraskar.
The Rajya Puraskar Testing Camp is a crucial step in a Scout's journey toward personal development and achievement in the scouting movement.
