Fantastic. Found this a couple of days ago. I have a disk that started faulting a few years ago and I put it aside and occasionally tried it but it finally failed last time I tried a few weeks ago. Today I tried this and now I have a full disk image to work on for recovery.

Same, except mine is a compaq presario with windows xp It froze with hdd every time I turned it on after dual booting it with windows xp Pro and windows server 2003, and upon rebooting for the first time after installing server 2003, it would not get past the bios screen. Bro, I can see all data on my external HHD, but some how unable to copy even a low mb file. Like a 100 mb takes 3 to 4 hours to transfer. Can you suggest possible solutions. my hard drive head won't moving over the plates, it just sits at the safe position, while the plates are spin perfectly. anyone know how to fix it ?
My hdd closes while playing games, the computer freezes and after 1-2 minutes the pc gets a blue screen

My board had similar corosion and it seems to come off with an eraser. It looked nice and clean, reinstalled and still doesn't show up.
I would recommend that you take the drive to a service center

hi does this method works for laptop harddisk? my laptop harddisk is spinning but its not showing neither in Bios or device manager, as of now im using ssd in my laptop. any solution?? Kindly help.

The problem with my HDD was that it would be frozen and then restarted again after a few seconds if I tried to copy large files to it.
