  • Mikhail Tal vs Igor V Platonov
    Mikhail Tal plays another attacking chess game where by making a tricky piece sacrifice he puts his opponent in a difficult situation! Being unable to find the right path Black's position collapses quickly!
    In the end of the video as usual you can solve the daily puzzle!

    It’s like when a kid watches you playing a game where you can take the opponent’s Queen but you can also checkmate your opponent so you play the checkmating move and the kid asks, “Why didn’t you take the Queen?”
    “Because I could checkmate him.”
    “But you could have taken his Queen.”
    “Isn’t checkmate better?”
    “Yeah, but you could have taken his Queen.”

  • @memefy02
    @memefy02 4 ปีที่แล้ว +35

    That was a hard one! I believe this to be the solution:
    1. Qe2! Qe7 (Anything else also leads to checkmate in one with the next move)
    2. Qh5+ Kf8 (only legal move)
    3. Qg6! Qxd6 (anything else is checkmate in one, the Queen is pinned)
    4. Qg8+ Ke7 (only legal move)
    5. Rg7#

    • @lajos-berenyi
      @lajos-berenyi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nice solution!
      After 1. Qe2 the other move that black can try (because obviously Qe7 is losing even if it wasn’t checkmate) is escaping with Ke8, but 2. Qh5+ leads checkmate: if Qf7 then 3. Rg8+, Kd7 4. Qxf7#. Or if Kd8 then 3. Rg8+, Kd7 4. Qf7#, or if Kd7 then 3. Qf7+, Kc8 4. Rg8#.

    • @emmettnelson7260
      @emmettnelson7260 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You missed one line where 1. Qe2, Ke8 2. Qh5+, Kd8 or Kd7. If Kd7, 3. Qf7+ 4. Rg8# If Kd8 3. Rg8+ 4. Qf7#. Other than that I think this is right.

    At 6:26, Bg7 is still completely losing for black. Instead of f6, allowing black to play Rf3, white can instead play Rxg7+, Kxg7, f6+, Kh8, Qh6. In all of blacks lines to defend g7, he will be down the exchange and have a much worse, passive position.

    1. Qc7+, Qxc7 (or else the black Queen is lost)
    2. Bxc7, Nd7 or anywhere else
    3. b6 and black will have to give the knight or the rook to stop the promotion, because the pawn will be suported by the bishop and, if necessary, by the g1 rook

    • @martinguerre8220

    • @memefy02
      @memefy02 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Qxc7?! Qxc7
      2. Bxc7 Nd5!
      3. b6 Nxc7
      4. bxc7 Rc8
      Black can stop the pawn, it should be a draw since the black king is very close and can capture the pawn on c7, leading to a drawn endgame as white can get black's pawn on a5 in exchange.
      I think 1. Qe2 is indeed the way to go here. When black defends with the queen, it would have to go into a bishop pin.

    I have to say that the commentator in this game has either a flu or he is the person behind the frog in sesame street.

    Chess with Suren or Chess with Tal? What about the Russian Greats, mate? Botvinnik, Smyslov, & Chigorin.
    It’s like watching Agadmator. It’s not instructive, it’s entertaining, but only to the provincial. 👎

      U can watch Mato Jelic's channel.
      Full of the old chess masters, in these days he analyzed the Akiba Rubinestein's games.
