1. g4+ If 1. … Kxg4, then 2. Re4+, forking the king and the bishop who protects the queening square on d1 … Kxg5 3. Rxa4, and black is winning If 1. … Kh4, then 2. wow i spotted something which i like to share, instead of c5 by white i thought Ba5 is winning but after ed4 Bxb6 axb6 Qxd4 comparing this position with the one in game we can see that what tal did is he managed to remove his own c pawn from the board so he can attack from the c file as well! I find this little difference in position very instructive one so i thought to share it,
@@exoplanet11 yeah! I find it really beautiful i mean he just removed his own pawn from the board so he can target the king and this little things are what makes someone like tal different from others
Thanks Suren. I have to say that mikhail tal and your videos did help me a lot over the course of many years now. I have positive thoughts and feel a bit better ( unfortunately I have serious psychological problems..), which - as I said - helps me and is a kool mechanism I can exploit (o: Thanks for your efforts. Nice game btw. I found Ba5 ( because you said before that queen can't leave 3rd rank ^^) and even Rxe4 ( but I couldn't say why, this was a "feeling decision").
@@SurenAghabekyan in winter I try to be in sun and daylight ( outside) as much as possible. I started hiking in winter in last year, which helps me a lot. In both line black will have 3 minor pieces for the queen, what is quite a lot, so Tal wanted to open one more file, in this case the C file to increase the pressure on the black king.
Puzzle: g4+ If Kxg4, then Re4+ Rf4 Rxa4 Rxa4 d1=Q+ forking the king and the rook. If Kh4, then Be7+ Rg5+ Bxg5 Kxg5 Re1 Bb3+ Kg7 Kxg4 d1=Q Bxd1 Rxd1 winning easily.
My answer for puzzle: 1... g4+ 2. Kxg4 Re4+ 3. Kh3 (or other king move) Rxa4 2. Kh4 Be7+ 3. Kxg4 and now main line (other option 3. Rf6 is pointless and leads to 3... Bxf6 Black will be up a piece for a pawn and with the White queenside pawns blocked by the rook Black should be winning
Amazing. Thank you 3.25: What if Tal played Be5 pinning the Queen in stead of C5? If Q cpatured B, then Ne6++. Very nice and fierce attacking game by the magician of Riga.
on the 3:30 pause would Ba5 not be superior here than a pawn push? The pawn ends up in same result, but the Ba5 pins the queen, can't take or Ne6#. Black just loses a queen regardless here and white is winning easily.
When you are in the position from minute 3.24 (first break), then Tal and, you, everyone missed the opportunity and did not see that you can move directly bishop from d 2 to a 5 instead of pawn c 4 to c5 God bless you!
That's why "The Magician from Riga - Mikhail Tal" was unmatched. He, almost always, didn't give his opponent any escaping squares and hence he played c5 before ba5 just to open up the C file.
Okay, my thoughts- young Oll played terribly. It looked like even I could beat him in a blitz game if he walks into such horribly obvious tactics like that. Also, I liked how he also got the chance to play against old man Smyslov (and he also got crushed) seven years later. Smyslov sacked a rook in the endgame for an awesome mate, and I think maybe that’s a better Oll-vs.-World Champion game, but maybe. TJM. Lastly, Oll’s wife left him and took their kids, and he got depressed and jumped out a window (☠️, RIP) at about 33 years old. :(
15.Ba5 kinda reminds me of this game! Don't Touch This 😮

Suren, please listen. You keep pronouncing 'catastrophe' wrong. It has 4 syllables and the e at the end is not silent. Cat-ass-tro-fee.
3:31well you could play 14. Ba5 but in this case Black somehow establishes a solid position! 14... exd4
15. Bxb6+ axb6 16. Qxd4 e5

Ba5 Would work on 3:31. What is the need to play C5
You play Ba5 if Qxa5 then Ke6#
If knight is moved still double check ye?
Am I correct guyz?

is that the original picture, at that time was allowed to smoke while playing ?
not a photo taken during this game but yes, at the time smoking during a tournament chess game was allowed!
Why not immediately Ba5 pinning the queen instead of c5 ?! ( if Qxa5 then Ne6#)
Ba5+ makes immediate resignation instead of c4

Wow this was rough
Why did Tal not play Ba5 right away instead of c4? Seems even stronger.
His knight wasn't yet on d4. He could play 14.Ba5, as Suren explained above ;-)
Oh, silly me. You didn't mean 12.Ba5, but 14.Ba5 instead of c5, right? My apologies.
Wow!
Bishop a5 was because it forced black queen to move from 6th rank
