It’s Christmas time and Pentatonix is the Christmas group. They have a marvelous selection of Christmas songs all done with their own twist and they’re just great can’t recommend them enough.
In recent interviews they have said they can put together a new song pretty quickly because they have done it so often. They also have an amazing guy, Ben Bram, who helps a lot. He is often called Pentatonix's sixth member and has shared at least one of their Grammy Awards.
PTX climbed the popularity charts by releasing Holiday album after holiday album. They were the first holiday album to set records for sales since the 1960s in the US. They have a number of really excellent carols already out there. They won a Grammy for their take on Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy video. Definitely worth a reaction in the holiday season. If you're a student of classical music their rendition of Carol of the Bells is noteworthy because they use actual Counterpoint (like musical sudoku, an "old fashioned" way of making arrangements vs. today's Melody with harmony chords underneath it, Counterpoint stacks four different melodic lines on top of each other each moving in its own way and it all adds up across and sideways to produce the harmonies and chords... thus, "musical Sudoku"... very hard to do, they did it brilliantly.) They make the 12 Days of Christmas bearable and even enjoyable as a holiday carol to listen to again. Their recently released (this year) I Saw Three Ships is also quite the fun arrangement of a more obscure carol. They've got some real winning options for seasonal carols.
I’d heard of their name before but never seen/heard them and… wow. Not my normal cup of tea, so to speak, but with that said - super impressive. Bravo.
♥ Pentatonix has said they arrange most of their songs in a few hours, except for a some, like Making Christmas, that took a few days. They've got about 100 Christmas songs and we've got 21 days to go. Just sayin' ... that's math. ;-)
Voctave, Home Free, Voice Play are probably the three other groups that are in the same league as Pentatonix. Each is different, but all of them produce wonderful music.
And coming up fast, The Bass Gang, Citizen Queen, AcaPop Kids to name a few groups and soloists like Tomi P, Peter Barber, Bobby Bass and Marwan Ayman have some good work out as well.
I'm a confessed Pentaholic.....they are insanely so talented with seemingly little effort. Even though, they work hard in their arranging, they execute it effortlessly.
"Love Again" "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" and only when you have had a cardiologist give you a full clearance to check out I suggest "AHA Live from the Star Vista, Singapore" (you do not see Kevin the beatboxer but trust me he is there...you can hear him)!! There are still so many that you should listen to...they are just freaking RIDICULOUSLY talented!! I have been binge-watching your videos and i have completely fallen in love with your channel...you are sooooo completely adorable, funny, and sweet :) Thank you for the time and obvious effort you put into your videos and as always stay safe, happy and most of all HEALTHY gorgeous
Since it's holiday time, you should consider reacting to their Xmas music! Some really fun ones are O Come All Ye Faithful, White Winter Hymnal, and Mr Grinch! You should totally react to their newest video release (from only yesterday) for Over the River featuring Lindsey Stirling from their new Evergreen album!
Awesome reaction as always. I like "the evolution of michael jackson", their original "sing", cover of Ariana Grandes " Problem", "attention", the chistmas song "oh come all ye faithful" mashup "new rules x are you that somebody" and sòoo many more! ❤
Great reaction Kabir! They do have many, many, many Christmas songs....(tis the season). You just can't go wrong with any of them. One of my favorites is Little Drummer Boy. Their PTX twist on the song is amazing!
Kabir - You HAVE to go see Pentatonix in concert in May 2023! They will be in Manchester on May 1st and in London on May 3rd! You could do a vlog at the concert! Please...Pretty Please!!
Check out their new one. “the prayer “. Originally done by Celine Dion and Andre Botticelli with a full orchestra. They do it with only 5 voices and no music and it’s incredible 🎄🎄🎄🎁
"Sounds of Silence" PTX. Crazy good! Yep Avi Kaplan "Change on the Rise" (his voice is the thundering bass) The resonance of his bass is what really gets me excited, shakes the body! They are such babies here!!!! I Always have to remind myself it's just their voices!!! Like, no, similar in A Capella, yes, the Holy trinity is PTX, Home Free, VoicePlay. Try PTX "New Rules x Are you That Somebody."
Had three cheerleaders in my life, married the last one, but they all mattered in a way. Shout out to R, A, and N. Even if A pisses me off to this day, wonderful at the time.
While there are several Acapella groups, PTX is "THE" A CAPELLA GROUP! There is no other group that can match their creativity in arrangements and sounds! Of course, I am biased because I am a Pentaholic, but I have listened to all the groups and this one just has something about them that sets them apart. You have to react to "Come All Ye Faithful" ! One of my favorite Christmas songs of theirs. I will be watching for your reactioin!!!!
they just released another Holiday album. Christmas songs plus songs you never thought of as particularly christmassy, but now you will. Sometimes they create completely new arrangements, like the one released yesterday "over the river' or back when they made what I think is the worst song ever, "little drummer boy' into a bearable song to hear.
Great reaction songs for Pentatonix: The Sound Of Silence The Prayer Amazing Grace Bohemian Rhapsody A Little Space Coffee in Bed Cheerleader Radioactive Sing Can't Hold Us Say something Starships Break my Heart When the Party's Over Dreams Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy Havana New Rules x Are You That Somebody Butter x Dynamite Shallow Come Along Rather Be That should give you a good start. Welcome to being a Pentaholic. We meet daily on TH-cam to new reactions.
Home Free is a great group. Peter Hollens is another good a capella singer if you want to go with a solo singer (he does a capella versions of anime, Disney, etc. type songs)
Yeah, there's Home Free, who won the season of The Sing Off after Pentatonix won. They have more of a country feel to them, but if you want to check them out, I'd suggest their cover of "Ring of Fire" with Avi Kaplan (the bass singer in this video). There's also VoicePlay. There's one more that's pretty popular, but their name is escaping me at the moment.
Other great acapella groups are Home Free, Voice Play, and voctave. I especially like Voice Play's very theatrical performances, especially when they cover Disney songs. I highly recommend their "Moana Medley", "Little Mermaid Medley", and "We don't talk about Bruno". They also cover some of the same songs as Pentatonix but Pentatonix tends to do those better.
You're missing their Christmas music & the season will be over before you know it. This was a fun little 'poppy' tune. :-) No one is that much like Pentatonix. If you mean like a Cappella, there is Home Free, Voice Play, Voctave, Choir Noir (really more like a choir), Voca People, and many others.
Since you enjoy Avi Kaplan (and really, who wouldn’t?!?) might I suggest his video, Change on the Rise. It is primate, deep, and amazing. Cheers to you, I enjoy watching your reactions.
Kabir, Don’t know for sure why they pop into my mind, because they’re apples and oranges to this group, but I think you should spend a bit of time watching some old The Fifth Dimension. I’d love to hear your take on them.
Sir, welcome to the PTX rabbit hole. It's a slippery slope of eargasms. You have a decade of catching up. PTX doesn't do covers, they do upgrades. They are the only, I repeat, only A Cappella group to win a Grammy, and they have 3. It's not Christmas without PTX and tis the season. But, honestly, most pentaholics listen to PTX Christmas music all year long, I'm guilty of that. If you want a fun video to react to, try the star wars tribute. Also, if they do use an instrument, it's very visible in the video. Kevin, the beat boxer, invented celloboxing. Keep watching the videos to figure it out
Pentatonix is more pop, home free is country but have done some r&b & pop covers. There is another group voice play. I don't care for voice play myself bcuz they r more theatrical than main stream.
Not knocking PTX. They're great. But, if you love accapella harmony you should hear Jared Halley. His harmonies are brilliant - and he does them all by himself! Plus, his videos are lots of fun. He's here on YT, so check him out.
good but certainly not Pentatonix level plus he is an individual that loops in chorus parts. in a concert it wouldnt sound as good. But he has a good voice but still not scott hoying or Mitch Grassi level
@@scottboyd9383 All the members of PTX are talented, but I don't think any of them could do what Jared Halley does - which is sing all the parts by himself. - and sound great doing it. Of course he loops in the other parts in order to create the harmonies. He is, after all, only one person. I agree that it would be difficult to translate his performance to a concert stage, but he's great to listen to and his videos are great fun.
Scott recently demonstrated doing the backup parts of a choir for “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear” track on their “Evergreen” album. Can’t underestimate their talent or creativity.
@@tekups I agree. They're very talented. I'm only saying there's room for other talented people as well and, IMHO, Jared Halley is one of them. Listening to him (and many others) as well as PTX only adds more enjoyment to life.
ALL of them is Pentatonix...you cannot say any one of them is. They have been close friends (Scott - Tall Blonde, Mitch - Short guy who sings high and Kirsten - Female) since high school so they know each others voices so they harmonize like no one else. Home Free is the other group who won the singing competition the year after Pentatonix. IMHO they are good.....but not Pentatonix good.

O Come All Ye Faithful is a really amazing arrangement, one of my favorites. Love your reactions, keep them coming please!
Their version is so much fun I always listen at least twice minimum!
Thanks Lynn :)

not quite in the same league. they are pretty much head and shoulders above everyone else
@@scottboyd9383 agreed
And coming up fast, The Bass Gang, Citizen Queen, AcaPop Kids to name a few groups and soloists like Tomi P, Peter Barber, Bobby Bass and Marwan Ayman have some good work out as well.
I love their Sound of Silence and Mary, Did You Know ❤️❤️❤️
Pentatonic began their rise to stardom on the Sing Off, a competition show for accapella groups. You might enjoy watching clips of that!
I love it when you sing along!
I'm a confessed Pentaholic.....they are insanely so talented with seemingly little effort. Even though, they work hard in their arranging, they execute it effortlessly.
They did an upgrade to this cover...Loved it.

My singing Kabir! Makes my day brighter. Love you ❤️
Thank you for your reaction to the amazing Pentatonix, Kabir. They are amazing and really entertaining to listen to.
the best way to describe Pentatonix is that they don't do covers. They do upgrades.

Love your reactions... seriously!
Love this cover (baby PTX) 😉, thanks for reacting to it!
Groups like this are Home free (mostly country feel), VoicePlay(theatrical), and Voctave(choir like).
They also have original music that is amazing! Love Again, Coffee in Bed, just to name a couple! You can’t go wrong with any of their music though ❤️
They are very unique!
Silent Night is amazing as is The First Noel. Also the bass Avi Kaplan has solo work that is amazing his latest release is First Place I Go.
Kabir - You HAVE to go see Pentatonix in concert in May 2023! They will be in Manchester on May 1st and in London on May 3rd! You could do a vlog at the concert! Please...Pretty Please!!
Going to make you jealous Kabir because I just saw them live tonight. Make sure you catch them on their next European tour. Sounded just as good live!
KABIR, what a great channel. Keep doing what do.
Thanks Frank :)

Subbed! You’re so fun to watch! Excited to see you react to some of their Christmas music - big catalog to choose from! Stay safe and healthy! ❤️
Thanks Heidi :)
Between Avi (Pentatonix) and Tim (Home Free)... the bass gets me every time! 😁
Home Free has a Christmas song, "Full of Cheer" that you should react to.
"Sounds of Silence" PTX. Crazy good! Yep Avi Kaplan "Change on the Rise" (his voice is the thundering bass) The resonance of his bass is what really gets me excited, shakes the body! Check out Pentatonix random singing. It shows some of how they put together songs and sing about random things.
I am sure others have said this in the past, but it is just Pentatonix, not "The" Pentatonix. Great reaction. Thanks for the fun!
Pentatonix does about 85% of their own arrangements so they all know intimately what all goes into what they are performing.
VoicePlay does a more theatrical style, which is fun and they have an amazing bass, Geoff Castellucci.

For a great Pentatonix Christmas song, watch their cover of Carol of the Bells.
Nobody's better!

They've done a cover of Royals by Lorde. It is awesome
New Rules X are you that somebody - Pentatonix
