Current PTX is mature, confident, polished, and consistent. They put out terrific stuff.
Early PTX was risk-taking and jaw dropping. That's the evolution of so many groups; it's part of how we mature. But I really miss all the "ain't got nothin to lose" risks.
You said it so well. But even their early songs, like this one, were impressive. On the Sing-Off, when they were still teenagers and just starting, Sara Bareilles called one of their performances "polished", and it was true then as now.
To see them really young you could look at "the Trio sings Telephone in concert" back in high school. It might be fun to compare it with Telephone at the Star Vista. It was the first song they ever did as a group, their Sing Off audition song

This is one of my Favorites of PTX. Avi will always be my favorite at PTX (you really should Check out his solo stuff) and Avi and Kevin will always be my Dreamteam. They are so perfect together ❤
Check out Light In The Hallway. Scott wrote it for his nephew and heard it in Avi’s voice! It will blow your mind!
2 parts of this arrangement that I love. 1st, Scott and Kirstie’s backing vocal ‘tones’ during the first verse make me smile every time. And the 2nd thing is how Kevin and Avi blend seamlessly. You can still pick each out, but this is a great example of the sum being greater than the parts. So good. Oh, and yes, Kevin really does do those electronic sounds while pumping the bass drum. I had to hear him do it live before I truly believed it. 😀
This is an oldie but goodie. It's amazing to re-visit some of these early songs and see how good they were back then. As a group they slay this version and make it so much better than the original. Keep finding Travis, there's still more gold. Have you reviewed "My Favorite Things?" Kirstie slays it!!!

There's a lot of covers they do where I've never heard the original (I'm too old to have been interested in a lot of stuff they do) so I will often go to check out the original of something they upgrade. I didn't much care for the OMI video for this. PTX, on the other hand, can apparently do no wrong. :D This was great - and that zip moment when you got KO'd was some really great Kevinning.
Actually, this and Havana are two of my favorites. Just love them, each and everyone. There were a ton of Pentaholics who wanted a PTX like the ones in this video, but to our disappointment, they didn't cash in on the merch and sell them, and they coulda sold a whole buncha them! Their cover is always better than the original, and in a way, it's not a real song until it's been perfected by the Penta process. I've been an ardent fan for eight of the past ten years, since I first saw their evolution of music video.
Vocal coach reactors critique Kirstie for the sideways smile, but I think it's the cutest thing ever... especially in this video. And I hate commenting on looks when they are so vocally talented, but come on... that's just not fair.
This rendition is definitely an upgrade! When this song came out, I thought it was so stupid!! When PTX sang it I was hesitant to watch it, much to my surprise...now I LOVE IT! I'm so glad you reacted to it. Most reactors are like I was, reluctant to react. But they agree. it's a BOP! Thanks Travis!
Fun tidbit about the filming of this video. The director kept getting on Avi about how low cut his v-neck tee was, as it exposed his chest hair, which said director did not like. You'll see that in a few shots, but then in others, he was directed to pull the shirt up. Leave it down, I say, lol.

Love what they did to this song, although Kirstie's part always gets stuck in my head for days after listening. I would describe Mitch as drop dead gorgeous instead of a "cutie-patootie" with those eyes, that smile, and those cheekbones, but we all find different people and different features attractive and doesn't that just make life interesting as hell?
This is one of my favorites because it's just so darned cute and fun. They captured the feel of the song as it should be (as they so often do) and the little three part refrain with Mitch Scott and Kirstie in the middle is just too much!
You should check out the time they appeared on Sesame Street! It's so cute!!! :D

This is a great one. A mediocre song MADE good by their adaptation. Admittedly it doesn't have the 1.1Billion views of the original (so weird) but 138M is nothing to sneeze at. Its their 7th most viewed video, and their 3rd most viewed that's neither a Christmas song nor an Evolution video.
The logical follow up is their version of the Kiaara song "Gold". Its the main other song they do a similar kind of vocal layering on. You know. That crazy difficult stuff you just heard with them singing different things at the same time. "Gold" has a leveled up even more difficult version of this where Scott takes a background part, and Kirstie also in the background actually seems to take two different roles while Mitch leads.
Another one dude, they just don't stop omg... I absolutely agree it was way too overplayed and they did it justice for sure!! Loved your reaction Travis, I'm looking forward to see the next one, which I strongly recommend you should be their rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" which I listen to every morning and my day just goes great you feel me. Have a nice one man!!

We are just dumbfounded at what they do all the time. They can sing anything in any style and genre.
I would like to see them sing a musical soundtrack. What could they do with Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom of the Opera, or even Hamilton.
Could they do a movie soundtrack acapella? If anyone could they could. I don't think that has ever been done before.

This song has to be dedicated to Kirstin. Love the chemistry they have together! She is definitely their queen! I have girl friends from High School that have been my cheerleaders for now 40 years. I just came across a TikTok compilation of them. It is awesome. I would share, but I don't know how. Pretty sure you can find it. It pops up all the time. Of course, they are singing in it.😁
If you’d like to see PTX sing that live, they were on a British show called Sunday Brunch in 2015 were they sang Cheerleader, Cracked and Can’t Sleep Love. In between cooking segments, Scott proving he doesn’t know how to cook. Avi trying to get at the food.
