I actually have a tinfoil hat theory about this movie. Katie, the niece, is actually a more advanced android doll (K4TIE) and has been raised as a human in order to perfect her program and not deal with the older model’s (like M3GAN) glitches. Reactivating M3GAN is a way for this team to advance certain data gathering or something, idk. Maybe I’m overthinking it but Blumhouse does like to put ridiculous twists at the end of their movies.

I was totally getting vibes of the most recent Chucky remake/reboot/movie. Where in that one, Chucky started killing to protect Andy and thought it would make Andy happy only for Chucky's programming to go crazy and resulted in him going on a murder spree. This seems to have similar vibes where M3GAN wants to protect Katie and will do anything and everything to make sure no harm comes to her, even if it means murdering people. Looks way more creepy than Chucky but still looks like it's gonna be a helluva great scary time.
This one feels less like her programming went crazy, and more like she just doesn't fully understand appropriate behavior but was given a major task (protecting Cady) that requires that understanding anyway. So, not a bug, just an AI that's not yet ready to be given that much responsibility.
I feel Chucky is creepier because he hovers between a doll and a human with the expressions, M3GAN to me she moves too human like but with the same expression and the dancing puts me out of the creepier aspect and more into the comical one. Now I know Chucky over time has become more comical at times but Chucky originally and his concept is darker, more eerie since it's a killers soul inside of an innocent looking doll lol. This android doll M3GAN doesn't scare me nearly as much as Chucky did as a kid, she's unsettling but to me not as scary as Chucky was in the 80's and early 90's personally. But I will see it none the less. Great reaction!

M3GAN is just doing what she was commanded. She was given a brief to “protect Cady” basically at all costs. However, she is not a basic robot or even an AI. She’s an evolutionarily android. She’s just doing what she’s been told to do. At the heart of the movie, It’s a cautionary tale to the progress of technology, and thinking we would have complete control. Edit: she’s also a badass bitch. I support all her crimes.

The "evil" things she's doing seem more like she just doesn't understand the greater context of her actions. She's misguided and not yet intelligent enough to be given such a huge responsibility. " -- that's actually a *major* area of AI research called the Alignment Problem, and while various researchers have proposed various approaches to it, we don't yet know of a guaranteed way to make sure an AI will always behave to the benefit of humans. We're still working on trying to solve it. It's not as easy as "make it want to protect us", as things like iRobot and now this movie show, because what the AI wants (its "reward function", as it's called) and how it achieves that thing can end up being quite different in ways we don't expect.

We are. Enjoying it. Not as good as GOT. Feels like these people would die in first episode playing the Game against those characters, but it still has its moments. The time jumps don’t always work and it’s harder to get invested in a character with the actors changing so frequently. But has some memorable characters and good acting. Dragons are always a win as well. Looking forward to the finale 😀🤩
