You're right Ridley Scott does need to take a back seat in the alien trilogies he's had it so long to get it right how do you say have let Neill blomkamp get in a shot I can't believe Really Scott actually block
Keep in mind that I don't know any more about the cause for Neill Blomkamp dropping out of directing an 'Alien' movie than what appears in trade (damn, I hate that term) publications. That being said, Ridley Scott just can't seem to let go. What he's been trying to do isn't working, so why is he hanging on? He's got more money and likely prospects than he knows what to do with. He needs to leave 'Alien' alone (beyond perhaps an EP credit).
@@screenPhiles Yeah this is Neil Blomkamp area of expertise science fiction is one of his strong suits for Shure. I can't believe that Ridley Scott actually blocked neil from doing one of the alien movie. We definitely need some new director in there. It shouldn't take two three hour movies a total of six hours, to show how the robot David)created the alien because he was board. What about chopping up Elizabeth even thow she put his head back on, some of the story line could have been way better Ridley i expected more out of a season director. It's the alien series give me nail biting space screams,, make me bite my nails, I want night mare's !!!!
@@Gary-x7n7z To give Ridley Scott some credit he's not the person writing movies like 'Alien: Covenant,' 'Prometheus' or any of the 'Alien' movies, for that matter. Now, to take away that credit he's reading the screenplays written by whomever and agreeing with them (since he's not only the director, he's typically the EP). The less I say about 'Alien: Covenant' and the nonsensical story revolving around David, the better (like how did the Covenant AI not recognize that David wasn't Walter? Are Weyland-Yutani the Tesla of the future that relies exclusively on cameras? Sounds a bit unlikely.
I disagree with both extremes. I don’t think the movie was terrible by any stretch of the imagination though I also don’t think it’s as fantastic as you seem to.
District 9 is one of my favorite sci fi movies ever but Neil Blomkamp wanted to mess with the timeline and erase Alien³ from ever happening and as massive fan of the franchise and of Alien³ im glad that did not happen, im a fan of both Prometheus and Covenant i just hope we get to continue and finish David’s story
That you say “…erase Alien3 from ever happening” is kinda an odd thing to say because let’s just say if it were going to be made instead of Alien3 (I’m not at all sure that that’s the case, but let’s roll with it) then you wouldn’t have known Alien3 ever existed, since it wouldn’t have in this scenario. I don’t hate either Prometheus or Alien: Covenant but both movies have serious problems.
Sorry, I prefer my 'Alien' movies with actual Aliens ('Prometheus' began life as as an 'Alien' movie before Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof scrubbed them from the screenplay).
I admittedly need to see 'Alien: Romulus' again but I was not impressed the first time. My expectations for Fede Alvarez were admittedly high, but A:R fell way short of them. As far as 'Alien 3' goes it stars Charles Dutton, so you're by default wrong.
It was good just wish they would stop with human hybrid s and use some ideas from toy line mantis alien panther alien bull alien and so on . Was good movie but just my opinion
According to Siri and Men's Health.com 'Alien' takes place in 2122:). In any case it sounds to me that this series might be leading up the the trigger event from the original movie, which is to say WHY was the Nostromo was in position to discover the alien ship. Weyland-Yutani needed to discover this life form as quickly as possible - the 'Alien' movies nave never in my recollection offered competition to Weyland-Yutani, which in my eyes was always an oversight - and the Nostromo just 'happened' to be in range to do so. That Ripley would potentially destroy the tanker was likely a scenario they never contemplated. This is what I like to call 'The Blessing of Limitations' because circumstance and the level of technology that existed in the world of Alien - travel from one place to another took months, if not many decades - forced W-T to use whichever resources they had available. Now' as far as the original movie goes - and what 'Prometheus' seemingly unknowingly undermines - is. that there were clearly other types of alien beyond the xenomorph (remember, the Space Jockey wasn't an Engineer originally. Clearly it was intended as an entirely novel creature and what we saw in the movie was clearly the creature as they looked, not a space suit) so the idea that there were others who had been overcome by the Alien is probably fairly unusual but the universe is huge and the odds that there are others who've suffered similar ends is not beyond reason). In other words, in 2021 Weyland-Yutani discovers another nest of Aliens - FOR THE FIRST TIME - 'brings' one to Earth and chaos ensues. In my head it potentially sounds kinda awesome.
Lol Romulus was just put on hulu for free i knew it was gonna be horrible just from the promos pushing the agenda, so i finally put myself through it was worse than i imagined it would be. i'm a huge original alien / prometheus fan especially with the engineer's lore so naturally i'm bitter about them wasting time and money on this pointless bad movie when there is gold to be made. this woke bs needs to end. hollywood just keeps injecting cancer in itself.
I wouldn't go as far as that. A:R isn't horrible (it looks great and the production design is on-point) but it's mainly kinda uninspired. And why did Alvarez really feel the need to have the android look like 'Ash' from the original 'Alien,' never mind going all 'Prometheus' in the finale. There was likely thousands of dollars spent to bring Ian Holm back to life when the money could have been better utilized putting a few more Aliens in the movie. I intend to see it again but the first time it left me wanting more.

Bro is coping hard, Romulus was awesome! Great pace, great Easter eggs, great addition to the franchise

Alien Earth said its set in 2120 correct? wasn't Alien set in 2122
