Which probably is the reason/excuse why cops were shit. BTW other than RSR none of the cars are handling like what they should towards the end of the game. Also prestige was a literal afterthought. But I very agree with you on Payback being utterly souless and Unbound turned full backwards on many stuff Heat did right. When they marketed Unbound (which was very scarce) they went full on about ASAP Rocky and a bunch of clothing brands that I don't give two shit. That's the moment I realized that NFS is officially on deathbed.
RWD snow drifting is actually made realistic here - you HAVE to drift slower because the inertia you car gains doesn't get dissipated by friction as much is it does on tarmac and you can't add more forward acceleration with stepping on the gas like you would do on AWD. I love this mod already.

The fact is that it seems that still plan on updating Unbound until the next game which seems more and more likely to be releasing in 2025, is proof of that. I think Unbound was and will be kind of a stop gap between great titles. Unbound was made at an awkward time being right after Covid with a different developer that was pulled twice to work on Battlefield and it was a “next-gen” only title. I think the next NFS will be good especially if they follow the recipe that Heat so successful initially and blend it with what they did well with Unbound.
Unbound deserved better. I like the game, but EA would rather cannibalize their studios to work on Battlefield than have developers make the games they want.

I don't have any solutions, for me games started feeling different around the xbox 360, ps3 era, things just weren't the same anymore, and everything had to be multiplayer or have some online components. Rather than every game ever built with online/multiplayer, i believe we just need to have a neat all purpose racing game first and starting with that, something then with multiple events and types bolted on top, some kinda open world, and then maybe add multiplayer in a dlc or a patch after the game is, y'know, complete? like, 20 hours, skippable events, optional open world, jump to events, and then multiplayer as a later thing. that'd be something at least. it wouldn't even need beautiful graphics, just call it an indie title and the same people who are OK with the level of quality in most indie games should be ok with it.

Quality wise, outside of the multiplayer (Because that's the only thing it offers compare to the rest of JRPG's which as an JRPG fan, i asure you there are much better.), it's piss poor even for the Switch Standards, and the Switch uses just close to PS4 graphics, and i will argue has some of the most beautiful videogames of this generation... And then you have Pokemon... Which is just pathetic what they do. No, i would prefer that the teams gets their stuff together keep improving the gameplay and focus on trying to find a good story on the side, then go the Pokemon route, you take that, and you are on the lowest points of what EA tends to do.
