      Thank you for this. In light of the RS video where i think they suggested based on your video and tire wear you should go into Conserve standard, what do you think of Conserve standard v. Conserve Low for road trip? I have been doing Conserve Low but don't have enough miles to notice if there is tire wear.

    Branden, it’s awesome what you are doing with your truck, sharing all of these great test results with none of the hype that some other channels have.

    Thank you, Branden. These are useful results and will help guide me in my thinking about how I'll configure my R1S someday on the interstates. (I haven't taken delivery yet.)

    Nice comparison Branden. Not a big deal for my daily driving but like you mentioned a bigger deal for trips.

    • @brandenflasch
      @brandenflasch  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Exactly. I drive in all purpose for daily driving because I like to have all the power and the driving dynamics are a little weird in conserve, but neither of those matter just cruising along on the interstate.

    Hi Branden, great video. Thanks for your time and effort on this. Have a question about your R7 install. I see you have the suction cup mount, how did you route the power wire?

    • @brandenflasch
      @brandenflasch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did a hardwire this way: www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/radar-detector-hard-wire-who-has-done-it.4253/post-147017
      With this kit: amzn.to/3za6Fiq
      I will warn that getting the plastic panel behind the mirror was a huge pain - I would've made a video, but I'm not sure I can recommend this to most people.

    I'm so glad you're providing these tests. Could you determine the impact of the tonneau cover on efficiency? Rivian just cut the power tonneau indefinitely, and many of us are trying to decide if we should get the manual or not.

    • @laloajuria4678

      Likely nothing.

    • @brandenflasch

      That’s the next efficiency test I have planned - tonneau closed, tonneau open w/ tailgate closed, tonneau open w/ tailgate open

    This makes sense to me. Conserve reduces some motor friction most likely. But on lowest ride height, you still have almost the same frontal area (maybe minus a little from tires), just translated down.

    • @brandenflasch
      @brandenflasch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. You’re really only reducing tire frontal area

  • @ericroe
    @ericroe ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice test, and I agree, why not drive in Conserve mode when doing road trips. But no sense in compromising comfort and going into Lowest ride height for minimal gains. Comfort and range is the way to go.
    Wish the Lightning could disconnect one motor for highway cruising for a bit more range.

    How was the ride comfort for high?

  • @bgtanguay
    @bgtanguay ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are you aware of any drawbacks with tire wear when driving in conserve, or is that something that could be counteracted with frequent tire rotations?

    • @brandenflasch
      @brandenflasch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tire wear is likely to be higher if you change the suspension setting to anything other than Standard, but I don’t have any conclusive evidence on this.

  • @Wasabi9111
    @Wasabi9111 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For road trips I use conserve low. It “feels” like I get more range wo any drawbacks. The problem is remembering to switch modes before the road trip.

      @@brandenflasch i think w recent updates the default is low, so I use whatever the default. In the past, the default was lowest and the ride was horrible, so I would manually change it to low.

  • @cruiser97eric1
    @cruiser97eric1 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is no need to hit the trip reset button a bunch of times. It takes a couple seconds for all the number to go to zero regardless of how many times you hit reset.

  • @vinnym5095

    Could you tell if the comfort changed from changing to standard to lowest ride height?

    • @brandenflasch
      @brandenflasch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On this road, it’s fine since it’s smooth, but lowest is much rougher than standard if the road isn’t good

  • @laloajuria4678

    So decoupling motor is most important. Everything else is negligible.

  • @MrNicholg

    Tonneau open, tailgate down will not make any difference. The low pressure zone is at the front of the bed, not the rear.
