Awesome topic Ayana, I scored 13. I’ve always had the “too much” gene and when discovering a new passion I fall deep into the rabbit hole, where you want to fully immerse yourself and learn everything you can in that area. I think collectors are very astute at curating their collection, meticulously maintaining each piece to preserve its beauty as a form of art. Where a hoarder collects through the impulse to fill a void of some kind, often due to emotional pain or perhaps a past trauma. The psychology of it is really interesting.
It is really interesting when you think about it. While I love collecting plants and adding plants that will add different textures and shapes, it is so easy to fall down the rabbit hole as you said and I have fallen many times. lol It is also easy to fall into the hoarding category, because in my opinion collecting plants to some degree becomes unsustainable and hard to manage.
I'm trying to engage in videos that I think are good, instead of just watching them. This video was totally different than so many others I've watched from other creators, and I think its a really important message. I asked myself this question recently because my plant collection have gotten a little out of hand in my small rental space. I feel that we have to unlearn our consumerist tendencies and really begin to care for and appreciate what we have. I believe when Springtime rolls around, I may do a little plant decluttering, and also figure out how even though I don't have many windows in my space, how I can spread that collection throughout my apartment (grow lights) so it's not so overwhelming in one room. Plus, some of these plants just need to go outside, but its cold right now. Congrats to all the success. Please keep making videos. Your space is decorated so lovely. This is really interesting. I collect plants, but I also have a love of vintage things and thrifting. So, I have collections of milk glass, teacups, tin trays. But, I display them all, so that's my justification I guess, Haha! Thanks for sharing!

Wow! Great topics lately...I know I have a problem with excessive acquisition lately. Being indoors all the time makes me prone to go online shopping and I keep getting more plants. But I'm slowing down and I'll be able to rehome a good portion of these guys in the spring. :)
Yesss I had the same issue. Not being able to get out and see people. Some people call it quarantine depression. But it is getting better now. I am so glad that you are working through it. We are in this together :):):)

Took the test scored a 12 4/4/4 I can't stand for things to be disorganized or cluttered makes me very uncomfortable. Everything has to have a place neat and functional. I have it bad if I go to someone house and it's disarrayed I will not sit in your house.
I took the quiz and scored 21. But I honestly think I'd have scored worse if I didn't happen to live in a big house. I have enough storage space to have a LOT of fabric and other craft supplies. I definitely overbuy on things I don't immediately need. Especially when things are stressful. I'm trying very hard not to be like that with plants because I recognize that I go in and out of loving things and unlike if I take a break from sewing, the plants will really suffer if I get bored and there are too many!

I love taking those quizzes also. Not only will they support you mentally, but also fiscally (personal and business) so you can appropriately budget your needs and desires for your plants. For example, my plant spending goal for this month is $30. Materials to care for them equally #30. I'm pretty decent staying within my budget. I was $1 away from the $60. Normally I'm $5 - $10 from the spending goal, but I decided that 2 extra plants were my early Christmas present to myself 😁 that extra $1 is set aside with next months plant budget. A lot of times instead of buying plants, I'll buy more items to keep them healthy or look into pots to size up or propagation. Appreciate the links 🖤🧡

I was planning to do that to get my pests and things together. But that is a really great idea, especially in the colder months when you really shouldn't buy plants.

There’s no way you are a hoarder. Your place is always so organized, neat, and spacious! But I’m with you in terms of ordering plants to make me happy, creative, bring nature inside to appreciate... especially now that it’s getting cold and shipping plants or even transporting from a nursery gets more dangerous, I’m anxiously planning my last hauls ... because Winter is Coming 😝
@@RootingMindfully based on your reco, I did place an order from Ecuagenera and got a couple beautiful plants. Also have been visiting my local plant shops weekly to add to my collection. And have been propagating. Got the humidifiers set up, have been getting some hooks mounted for more hanging plants, etc. etc. Oh, and have been learning about LECA and am going to try to put some plants in LECA soon - starting with an orchid and a Monstera Deliciosa cutting. Know we will love all the green and the variety this winter as we are stuck inside at home for months. Taking care of the plants makes me happy and brings me peace. Love watching your videos and learning, please keep them coming!
