I agree. I've watched this series several times and my eyes burn every time Henry looks over at Sam and says his name. His voice sounds so heartbreaking. (All of the actors in TLOU are wonderful.)

The pure hypocrisy of Kathleen telling Henry that Sam was supposed to die while she's so hellbent on getting revenge for her own dead brother is WILD.
And the poetic Justice that she died at the hands of a clicker child.
Well, I wouldn't exactly say Michael was supposed to die compared to Sam getting a leukemia diagnosis in the apocalypse.
Ikr hypocrisy and revenge led the town to doom all because she wanted revenge that her brother didn't want

henry and sam’s story was already tragic in the game but them making sam younger and him deaf made it even more sadder 🥲

@@karanjotsingh1873 For me the show was more gut wrenching because even though the game graphics are great they can't quite pull off authentic looking emotion yet. Seeing the look in Henry's face before he shoots himself and Ellie's reaction was what really did it for me.

In game the fear I felt from Henry having the gun was so much he could have shot ellie and joel in his emotional state it was major possibility (but I didn't feel it in show )

In show placing the gun on head was effective but it was slow
While is the game henry shot himself so fast the utter shock and disbelief and emotion trauma was felt long after the black screen
Fun fact about the infected in the game. They are 100% still alive and aware of what is going on, the fungus just hijacks their motor functions. They are still seeing and feeling everything their body is being forced to do while the fungus slowly splits their skull open over years. In the game when the infected are not attacking something you can hear them crying and begging for someone to kill them. And when you first see infected in Boston one is a woman eating her friend that is crying saying “no stop please don’t make me”. It’d be cool if they showed stuff like this in the show but it doesn’t seem like they will
That's some next level horror. To be just a passenger in your own body, doing horrific shit.

It is crazy having played the game and still feeling sad knowing what's about to happen. The "Bloater" looked soooooo darn good. Like this show is the best video game adaptation hands down for real.

This episode is another reminder of how brutal and unforgiving this world is, regardless of who you are. Something as simple as running across a group of infected has catastrophic effects to deal with and even doing the right thing has consequences. It’s no wonder Joel closed his heart off in the first place. The quicker you get attached to someone, the more likely you are to lose them.
But GOD, does it hurt EVERY TIME they make us fall in love with someone and then take them away.

The bloater's entrance was epic! I find it very satisfying that it made its iconic kill on national television to none other than Perry the voice actor who played Tommy in the game!

I heard that Sam may have purposely faced away from Ellie while she was sleeping because he knew he wouldn’t be able to hear her moving after he turned, and wouldn’t attack her since he’s deaf.
Katrine got too obsessed with revenge she ignored the grave danger that eventually wiped them all out.
I mean thats pretty much the whole premise of the game. It's very anti-revenge. Especially part 2. Revenge never solves anything but only makes things worse in the end.

By cutting through only the best moments of the show, you’ve created something energetic, funny, and touching. And the fact that you’ve included so many reactions from a variety of watchers helps show how universal our humanity is. When the storytelling is this good, emotions can’t be denied!

The first time in the game when I saw the death of henry and sam, I didn't cry, it was more like a boom in my head I was shocked and my mind was trying to processing it.
Repeating myself "what", "no", "why now", "ah goddamit"
Henry, I would imagine, had to come to terms with the fall of Kansas City and everyone he knew, was because he needed to save his brother’s life.
A life that Henry had to take himself.
That’s a special kinda tragic.
This has got to be the BEST episode for your compilations yet. I mean wow. I loved this episode, and I so loved watching everyone's reactions. I just love it. Thank you, Johnny.

*Bill and Frank's end wasn't tragic more like heart wrenchingly beautiful. Sure they chose to off themselves, but they both lived a surprisingly loving and long life. And in the end they chose to spend their last moments together and end their lives on their own terms. Where as Henry and Sam's end was tragic. Sam didn't chose to get infected he just did and their wasn't anything Henry can do and his grief he took his life. Not trying to argue just my personal opinion, both scenes were sad in their own way, but one was tragic*

It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve cried to a show but it was the first time I was sat there like 😳for a full 20 minutes.
This episode hit me hard. I almost cried. That little boy was so cute. Damn man. Good acting.

What made Sam’s death worse is that he was still there when he turned. So he was forced to watch himself ruthlessly attack Ellie before everything suddenly went dark.
I honestly think he screamed after being alerted because he was begging himself to stop and at the very least scare Ellie enough for her to run away.

Yes!! We got bloaters! Shame they don’t shoot spores like the game but I like the ‘raging hulk’ aspect of them so I’m happy.
This episode broke me so bad. This was even more heartbreaking than the game. TLOU continues to do things right; we may finally have our near perfect if not absolutely perfect video game to live action adaptation.

But.... Henry and Sam. What more can I say about them (other than me liking the change to have Sam be deaf in the show)? Beautiful bond, beautiful dynamic with Joel & Ellie and a tragic end to their tale.

This episode was a good reminder that this is a zombies franchise in a post apocalyptic world. The zombies were fucking RUTHLESS, especially the Bloater and the episode didn’t give everyone a “happy ending” just how real life is never truly sunshine and rainbows.

I've watched this episode multiple times and I still get emotional at the end. The writing, directing, cast and crew have all been amazing!!
For those who don't know or haven't watched it yet, the directing, writing, acting and set design are just as amazing in the show Chernobyl. I'm sure plenty of people think the show Chernobyl is a horror show, but it's not. It's a recounting of how things went down when the reactor exploded. The director really knows how to bring emotion to every scene in Chernobyl and it is felt the same way in The Last of Us.

Amazing episode and the best of the series with 3. Lamar And The Actor who played Sam crushed it. Though I knew what was coming they made it hit harder here than in the game. What a Mid-Season Finale. This is one of the best shows on TV and can't wait for the rest. Hope Tommy gets a lot of time to shine next episode.
