P.S. I know I can get a pet at a shelter, but my 11 year old forever kitten died within this past month and rush decisions are no good when it comes to obtaining an animal. All my pets have been rescues or shelter pets.

I did. Best decision I ever made. My cat is happy and healthy. Most of all, she is safe. I don't recommend it to someone who doesn't have the resources though. If you can afford it, great! If not, wait until you are stable.
Carlie Sim you are a responsible person then. But there are people out there that get a pet and then they go on vacation and the pet becomes suddenly inconvenient. They tie their dog to a tree or something like that and leave it to die.Or just throw out their cat to live on the street. Imagine that would happen to a shelter animal. It would have to suffer all over again.
lol no. They would never do that. Unless they're with an overburdened underpaid shelter, they'd want a massive amount of paperwork and stuff beforehand. With most places it isn't about adoption anymore, and it isn't about the pets. Instead, all eyes are on the owner. The people probably couldn't care less about the animals. They'd euthanize before letting a pet go to a home that hasn't had every procedure followed and every policy gone through. It's probably easier to adopt a human than it is a dog or cat.

NO!! It's not the worst, so it's an option if you're desperate, but no matter what entry position you apply for, you're screwed.
Store standards? (that's the maintenance crew) I've had a coworker actually have to clean off real human feces from an aisle. Like, I'm talking "someone dropped their pants, squatted, and did it right on the floor". do you wanna be cleaning that up? Not to mention going outside to collect carts in the middle of winter and cleaning the public washrooms! UGH!!
Floor associate? Yeah, tell me you want that job after getting literal hundreds of customers asking you where an item that's not in your department is and then getting pissed off when you don't know. Not to mention all the calls you'll be getting from the cashiers who can't locate a barcode or to come up and run a till while you still have work to do in your department. In at least some stores, this is basically like applying to be a cashier under a different name. Speaking of...
Cashier? This is by and far the WORST job that this place has to offer if you either don't like people or don't have infinite patience! You're basically the scum that isn't taught anything, yet is expected to know everything. Higher-ups see you as a tool that they can get away with abusing, customers see you as though you're a manager and like your say actually means something, (HA) and people who don't work in retail see you as someone who "isn't trying hard enough" when you're working yourself so hard, that you're actually in very poor health and can't get a second job because your body is filled with pure PAIN!!
Back room associate? Yeah, I don't really see them as all that great, seeing as I once got sexually assaulted by one while on the job and there were no cameras around to prove it. Either way, you'd better be good at heavy lifting!
Night shift? Yeah, be the guys that the day shift blames for everything while you're doing literally EVERY single one of these previous jobs (except for cashier, of course) AND doing things like repainting parts of the store. Not to mention that you won't be able to function during the day because you'll be asleep.
Security? Only a few walmarts actually have this position in the first place, so it's pretty touch and go. Also, would you be physically capable of arresting someone who's resisting? If so, then WALMART security is definitely not the position you would want. Sorry.
Honestly it really depends where you live and what type of management you have in any Walmart or Sam's club you want to apply to.
The Walmart I work in is great compared to others I've been in or applied to. Every job has it ups and downs. I work across from one of my old jobs(home depot) and honestly I like the management here better. Not only that but it's actually a full-time job with good hours. The management here do it right in both other Walmart/Sam's club jobs I worked it was almost impossible to have a steady consistent schedule but the management at my store does their best to make it that way so they don't have to fix as many schedules. It's a lot less work for everyone that way not to mention less stressful. It really does depend on where you live and what your willing to do. I for example never work with food I.e. deli, produce, dairy, and frozen. Everyone has their limits and you need to be able to tell management those no matter what job you have, be a secretary or a Walmart associate
LadybugsOpin that's not true. You have to really hate your job to view it this negatively or just have mangers and supervisors who aren't doing their job correctly. Personally to me it sounds like the a combination of the two. The Walmart I work at isn't the bad and it's a high volume store.
Sorry, I've been having a rough time with one manager telling me to do one thing and then another giving me shit for doing the thing. They won't believe me when I tell them that the first one told me to do it... either that, or they're telling me that that manager is a quack. I've had to check which manager is on at the moment and then act their way instead of just knowing what I'm supposed to do and doing it. Being a cashier, but hearing the complaints of all of the other shifts in the break room hasn't really helped much. :/
