I don't agree that Brosnan was the most ridiculous Bond. True, there was the space laser weapon in Die Another Day, but Roger Moore actually went into space.
@@Dragonfly-0010 I can go along with sattelites. I mean honestly who actually knows what the super powers have put up there? But scenes such as the spacelaser-battle, the karatescene in TMWTGG where Bond is aided by two teenagegirls to knock down an entire karateschool or the scene in Octopussy where Bond dresses up as a clown to disarm a nuclear bomb in a circus catapults Roger Moore to the bottom of the Bond-actor ranking list.
I think Roger Moore was the humorous Bond and Pierce Brosnan was meant to be the unrealistically perfect and suave Bond. There were outlandish aspects to Brosnan’s films but they were in the effort to say, he’s got all the gadgets, he doesn’t flinch at anything type of deal. Daniel Craig was the first Bond to be a bit more real. Show some pain/trauma or gritty emotion. At least he seemed more like a real person rather than a fantasy figure. Love all the bonds except Lazenby to be honest.
007 wasn't shot by a sniper rifle in Skyfall, he was shot with a 5.56MM M4 style carbine with a 4x zoom ACOG style scope that inaccurately showed a 6x zoom.
Beside that Patrice IMHO was the first henchman who wasn't another mean jump and run fool. He was even the first who made a stage victory against Bond though with unwanted aid. Sadly he wasn't credited for this along the plot.
No Lazenby was NOT underated he was a great bond ...His agent talked him out of doing anymore bond movies as he told him you don't want to be labled. There was a great documentary that talked about this. Can't remember what it was called though
The Laz movie is one of the best Bond film, if not the best Bond films, of all time. He was great.. like others have said.. he never got the chance to grow into it. "We have all the time in the world..." Jesus, what a great movie.

WatchMojo.com yeah how about quit using clips from that piece of shit Die Another Day movie. That is hands down the most hated movie in the entire franchise.

I love how everyone has their own favorite Bond actor and their own favorite Bond film. Like, there are some that most of us can agree are better or worse than others, but you can't really say anyone is wrong for liking or hating them; for example, I know people that love Roger Moore the most because of how goofy his films were, but other people say their favorite is Brosnan because of his suave, action-packed take on the character; and still others like Daniel Craig for his intensity or George Lazenby for his (in my opinion, underrated) more emotional portrayal of Bond. It's just all over the board and I love it.
Two issues in that sentence: stormtroopers actually have very good aim, look at the invasion of the tantum V, you can’t go around shooting and killing main characters. Two: you can’t go around killing main characters.
+Karen Fahel Stoic, not bored, like the Bond in the books. Dalton was brought in as a sub until Brosnan's TV contract for "Remington Steele" was over. I think they should have kept Dalton.
+David Scott "The Living Daylights" likely started out as the final outing for Roger Moore, but after "A View To A Kill" Moore hung up the tux and the producers looked for a new actor to take over. They first approached Dalton, who was unavailable due to other filming obligations at the time. They screen tested another actor, but didn't pick him up. Then they went to Brosnan, and intended to have him take over in the film. But when word got out that Brosnan was the new Bond, "Remington Steele" saw a spike in ratings, and the show's contract was renewed. The producers insisted that no one from "Remington Steele" was going to play Bond, so they went back to Dalton, who was now available. Dalton was originally going to be in "Goldeneye" after his contract expired in 1993, but he quit the role in 1994, and Brosnan suceeded him.
@Jerrol Hale Eastwood was in a kind of Bond-spy film called The Eiger Sanction. His friend played by George Kennedy was also his nemesis. I liked how he didn't know who the villain was so he killed them all.
10: James Bond was the name of a noted ornithologist author which Fleming lifted for his character as boring, but manly. 9: Roger Moore had to finish The Saint and didn't become Bond until he was aged 45. 8: Adam West, Clint Eastwood, and Burt Reynolds supposedly turned down the Bond role. 7: The Bond character is actually Scottish. This makes him "British" rather than English. 6: George Lazenby lied to get the Bond role, inflating his resume with non-existant past roles. 5: Bond is a womanizer, bedding 55 women in 23 films. 4: The Bond theme was adapted from a stage musical song, "Good Sign, Bad Sign". 3: Pierce Brosnan's Bond was deadliest, killing 76 to 135 (depending on how it's counted) out of 350 people killed in the 23 movies rated. 2: Sean Connery, considered most masculine by many, has used a toupee' for all of his Bond movies. 1: The Bond character has been shot at 4662 times, unaccountably surviving. That may save someone 13 minutes or so.
Brosnan did not have the most "over the top" films. He had ONE over the top film that "focused more on special effects than telling a good story" and that was the dreadful Die Another Day. Goldeneye was one of the best Bond films ever made, The World is Not Enough is an underrated gem in the franchise, and his Bond had some of the coldest and best kills in the series. Every actor that's played Bond has had a movie that was over the top (Connery had DAF, Craig had QOS, Moore had every film he was in sans TSWLM and FYEO)
Always amused by fanboys hatred of DAD because of the invisible car and the virtual reality exercise scene, but not the villain changing race by plastic surgery.
@@postersandstuff Bond doesn´t come much grittier and down to earth than The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill. Only one I recall that goes beyond that would be From Russia With Love. In my opinion Bond is best when the movies are grounded in some form of reality and put Bond into some really relevant geopolitical situations, however they still have to deliver some form of escapism.
"We love Adam West, but he made Batman look dorky." Wasn't that the whole point of the series?? To be campy? So that wasn't Adam's fault... Also, I'm amazed they didn't talk about any other actors like Cary Grant.
The first actress to play Moneypenny, Lois Maxwell, stayed on until "A View to A Kill" after she originally intended to quit the role following "Diamonds Are Forever". The reason why she stayed on for so long, was because Roger Moore was a good friend of hers, and she stayed in the role during his tenure as a result.
Agreed. 1: Connery, 2a:Brosnan, 2b:Dalton, 3: Moore, 4. Lazenby, 5: whoever the new guy is, 6: literally anyone else, 11: Daniel Craig. Sorry, I can’t even include him in a top ten. He’s not Bond, never has been. There are only 20 Bond Films for me
The Vodka Martini Bond always drinks is said to be shaken, not stirred. But in reality he always gets a stirred Vodka Martini. If he had gotten a shaken, the Vodka Martini would have been opaque instead of transparent
2:07 actually Connery retired a second time when Moore took over the role. He retired first after "You Only Live Twice (1967)", and then came back for "Diamonds Are Forever (1971)" when Lazenby didn't really work out...
How do you figure the Brosnan movies were the most over the top?? What about Moonraker? What about Jaws and Oddjob??? Isn't that over the freaking top??
No one liked Dalton, because he came across as being pissed all the time. Craig is the most cold blooded (agree with John), but he's not mad.. More, "this is the job" way of cold.
When will WatchMojo do a top ten over the James Bond soundtracks? probably the best scores in cinema history. Here is my pick: - 10. Moonraker (John Barry) 1979 Beautiful emotional score - Barry explores new ways of doing Bondmusic A Track especially worth mentioning: The centrifuge and Corinne puts down - 09. A View To A Kill (John Barry) 1985 Barry at his best. A memorable action theme, great love themes, and great instrumental versions of the Theme song. A Track especially worth mentioning: Golden Gate Fight - 08. GoldenEye (Eric Serra) 1995 Controversial and experimental score but most welcome after the series six year hiatus. Serra made a good mix of percussions and sample sounds and it was a great idea to play the Bond theme on Timpanis A Track especially worth mentioning: The GoldenEye Overture - 07. Thunderball (John Barry) 1965 Part os Barrys golden period. Experience great Trumpet tunes by Derek Watkins. Barry really delivers atmosphere and aggresiveness. A Track especially worth mentioning: The Bomb - 06. The Spy Who Loved Me (Marvin Hamlisch) 1977 Marvin Halisch gives us a score with less music but very well timed mash ups. The disco action theme works very well for Roger Moores Bond. The epic music when the sub leaves the sinking tanker Liparus at the ending is definitely worth mentioning A Track especially worth mentioning: The Tanker - 05. The World Is Not Enough (David Arnold) 1999 Arnolds best and most melodic shot. The World Is Not Enough is more diverse and more melodic than Tomorrow Never Dies and balances the mix of symphonic orchestra and electronic music better than Die Another Day. It succeeds in using the theme song within the score in a Barry-like fashion. A Track especially worth mentioning: Welcome To Baku - 04. You Only Live Twice (John Barry) 1967 Part of Barrys golden period. YOLT is a more diverse score than the two entries that came before it (Goldfinger and Thunderball) and mixes beautiful and agressive pieces very well. The score is far better than the movie. A Track especially worth mentioning: The Wedding - 03. Diamonds´Are Forever (John Barry) 1971 The end of Barrys Golden Period and the end of the Connery-era. Diamonds Are Forever has a weak point: The Action music, but the rest of the score works just perfectly. It makes good use of the theme song within the score and it has some very beautiful stellar tracks alongside the suspense music. A Track especially worth mentioning: Death at the Whyte House - 02. The Living Daylights (John Barry) 1987 John Barry leaves the Bond franchise on a high. The score for Daltons first outing as Bond is nothing else but a masterpiece. Barry delivers a strong score with great and updated action music, a fantastic love theme and some very dark tracks that help distinguish Daltons Bond from Roger Moores Bond. A Track especially worth mentioning: Murder At The Fair Honourable Mentions: Live and Let Die (George Martin) 1973, Die Another Day (David Arnold) 2002, For Your Eyes Only (Bill Conti) 1981 - 01. On Her Majesty´s Secret Service (John Barry) 1969 The peak of Barrys Golden Period. A New Bond presented a need for a new Sound and John Barry delivers just that with an updated score which makes references to the previous Bondfilms starring Sean Connery but with a twist. Barry uses A Moog syntheziser to distuingish Lazenby from Connery. This was the first time a movie score mixed Symphonic orchestra and Moog Synthesizer and you can hear and numerous tracks throughout the score/Soundtrack. It´s also a darker and more epic score than what the audience was used to at the time. A Track especially worth mentioning: Ski Chase
The mystery of James Bond, the legendary secret agent “007”, was additionally enhanced by the statement of his creator Ian Fleming, when he revealed to the media that the double agent from the World War II, known as “Tricycle”, served him as an inspiration. And after “Tricycle” himself described the mysterious life of spies in his memoirs, the controversy re-merged. Who was that man? He was born in 1912 in a well-off Serbian family in Titel, a small town in what today is Banat, and at that time a part of the mighty Austro-Hungarian monarchy. His name was Duško Popov.
Other Facts Timothy Dalton was approached many times to take the role since OHMSS, live And Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy Then A View To A Kill, but then he was Offered to the unmade unofficial bond film "Warhead" Thunderball was Remade 4 times since the 50's but never made, the original 1965 then Never Say Never Again and then the unmade unofficial film "Warhead" The Producers and Desmond Llewellyn loves Timothy Dalton's Bond and working with him When the Producers cast Daniel Craig, because of the Daniel Craig's Movie "Layer Cake" as Agent xxxx, also Daniel Craig And Ben Wishaw worked together twice sincr Layer Cake then Skyfall Sam Neill Was almost bond in the living daylights as he performed a screen test, the critics love him sam neill as bond but the producers feels doesnt right for the role so they chose pierce brosnan and Timothy Dalton was the 2 candidate There might be now 26 official bond films if the third bond film Property of A Lady 1991 and Bond 93, Unmade Bond Films: Property Of A Lady 1991 Bond 93 Casino Royale 1999 Once Upon A Spy Warhead Thunderball 50s Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan was Almost a Bond Director Pierce Brosnan Confessed to be the Worst bond actor after The World Is Not Enough Timothy Dalton's Bond was considerably the best and underrated Almost bond actors: Sam Neill Liam Neeson Sean Bean Clive Owen Henry Cavill Christian Bale Ewan Mcgregor Hugh Jackman and others more
James Bond is actually half Scottish and half Swiss. According to the book, His parents obituary in You Only Live Twice, Andrew Bond and Monique Delacroix-Bond died in a climbing accident in the French Alps, orphaning him at the age of 11 with his aunt.
Brosnan and Dalton were better. Y'all just didn't like him because y'all are too old n weren't use to James bond being a killer. You guys still fantasize about bond making a corney joke after each 50s Batman fight scene.
Tom Riener Are you taking the piss? Bland Bond, silly films. Watch the Matador though He is great in that and a good film. Each to their own though fella. You liked him, fair enough.
Totally agree. Brosnan was handed crap for stories, but still made them pretty great. Daniel Craig is not Bond, as far as I’m concerned. Connery is the best.
6. Lazenby (largely forgettable) 5. Dalton (played a great Bond, but his tenure was so brief, that he was unable to leave a significant impact on the character) 4. Moore (his films ranged from good to awful, but he remains the longest running Bond placeholder to date) 3. Brosnan (aesthetically, the perfect Bond. But, all his films sucked, except for Goldeneye) 2. Craig (the most complex and emotionally developed Bond yet. Also, the best acting) 1. Connery (the face of James Bond. A true icon)
1. Daniel Craig, well developed character, good acting less reliant on Bond gimmicks 2. Lazenby, well acted, closer portrail to the books, not gimmick (broccoli also highly impressed, if you had spent time watch behind scenes. 3. Connery, he developed into the character and persona of bond 4. Touch to call with the rest, from the slap stick of Moore, the stunted action of Dalton and lacklustre of Bresnan.
I liked Lazenby. But that movie also had Diana Rigg, so I might be a little biased. I remember people saying that they just didn't want Dalton back in the role, but then I found out later that in truth, he was supposed to be in Goldeneye but he couldn't because of an injury. The movie was delayed to basically wait for him to recover, and then the situation got totally screwed so they finally had to recast and use Brosnan. I really like Brosnan, but considering Goldeneye was his only good Bond film, a part of me really wishes Dalton had been able to do it. He was my favorite Bond after Sean Connery.
Stormin' Norman - Brosnan’s consistant grunting during each action scene distracted too much. Moore to me was too clown like. Craig completely changed the James Bond character too much. Lazenby, yes - forgettable. Dalton was good but the original Bond still works best and had the best wisecracks. Needed is a transgender Bond.
Lazenby played the part of Bond well. He was lucky to play the part in the best Bond film too. The Bond who never was is Lewis Collins. Dalton got the part.
Bronson starred in the most over the top Bond films? Uhhh, they had a flying car and were fighting, in space, with laser guns, in Moore's films. Do you even Bond bro?
TheAlanirvin Moonraker was obviously intentionally parodic of the whole series, from the free fall skydiving fight to to Jaws cartoonish fights to Bond riding a horse past huge billboards (product placements) to the space battle reminiscent of the scuba fights in the earlier movies.
@@mr.sinjin-smyth Ya everything apart from the plot. The whole Korean Arms trade in the opening was quite smart. The Cuban stuff works pretty well too but from that point on it is downhill. Not just because of the invisible car and the Tsunami surf but it also reuses a lot of situations we´ve already seen. I mean we´d already seen an Aston Martin chase on a frozen lake in The Living Daylights. The plane thing at the end where people get sucked out due to a hole in the plane from a gunshot is exactly like Goldfinger. I hate it when they just copy from movies we´ve already seen. That´s why I dislike Skyfall and Spectre as well.
I ADORED SEAN as Bond / 007. But one of his greatest movies EVER imho was when he co-starred with Michael Caine in "The Man Who Would Be King." If you are over 40 and have never seen it, get your hands on it and ENJOY.
I know this is late but I had to say it, Bond was married in fact it has been mentioned in 3 Bond movies with different ppl playing him before Daniel Crage, and Telly Savalas played a Bond villain as well
You overlooked Australian-raised Irish-American Mel Gibson (Rejected The Offer), North Irish Liam Neeson (Rejected The Offer), and Robert Pattinson (Was Rejected For Hygienic Issues).
Here are 6 more for you. 1.Before Roger Moore was actually cast they wanted Timothy Dalton for the role as they wanted a younger actor. But Dalton turned it down feeling he was to young for the role and Moore was cast. Then later before they cast Dalton in the role they actually wanted Pierce Brosnan to play the role, but he was contracted to Remington Steel, so they cast Dalton in the role. Also Ian Fleming actually wanted David Niven to play James Bond originally, but the producers wanted Sean Connery. 2. An American actor was in line for the role alongside Daniel Craig in fact he made it to the final 2. Goran Visnjic who is famous for the Elektra film and ER TV series was in line for the role before Daniel Craig was cast. 3. Lazenby was also Stupid. Producers wanted to sign him to a multi film James Bond contract but he believed if he signed a 1 film contract, then they would pay him a lot more to sign up to do more after On her Majesties Secret Service was released. He believed it would be a huge hit so he would be able to negotiate a bigger contract. Unfortunately for him the film wasn't a huge hit and they didn't ask him back for a second film. He was famous before James Bond for the old Milk Tray chocolate ads. 4. Goldeneye was Brosnan's best Bond film. Its director Martin Campbell also directed Daniel Craig's first Bond film Casino Royale. Campbell insisted on doing as many non CGI shots as he could on the films. In fact in Casino Royale there was only one CGI shot in the whole film. I guarantee if you don't know what it is you would never guess it. 5. Woody Allen played the villain in the James Bond Spoof of Casino Royale which featured David Niven playing James Bond. 6. Sony Picutres produced the remake of Thunderball, Never Say Never Again. They later distributed some of Daniel Craig's Bond films. Also the book to Thunderball is the only book that is based on the films screenplay. It was the reason Sony were able to remake it. The guys who wrote the screenplay Kevin Mcclory and Jack Whittingham took Eon and Fleming to court to claim Thunderball was their idea and so the rights belonged to them and the courts agreed. They did a deal with Sony to allow them to remake it. Ian Fleming only wrote the novel after the screenplay was written. It is also the reason they couldn't use the organisation Spectre for years as they were created in the book Thunderball and they came under those rights.
While its true that Bond's mother was Scottish, and the family manor was in Scotland, Ion Flemming always said his father was Swiss. That was why Bond was such a good skier, up until his parents were killed in an avalanche they took young Bond skiing in dad's Swiss alps several times a year. Bond saw them die and it was a major factor in developing his personality. Thanks for posting!
3:18 As much as I love Clint (and Hugh Jackman for that matter), I would very much regret it if the role of Bond were to be taken up by a non-Brit - so thank you Clint for 'agreeing that Bond should stay British'. Anyways, the Harry movies, In the Line of Fire, Blood Work and Tightrope are more than good enough - and (even though this is somewhat unrelated) let us not forget the Man with No Name.
Woody Allen as Jimmy Bond in Casino Royale (1967): "My doctor says that I should never have bullets enter my body at any time! You realise this means an angry letter from the Times?!?" LOL
Seriously, I'm so f***ikng tired of Brosnan era bashing !!! Especially with the poor main argument of "realism" (especially when, overall, only the 4th Bond of Brosnan era was above-average of goofiness for Bond saga). Because, all we all know, Bond movies since the beginning are always SO realistic ! Jaws who cut the cables of a cable railway with his teeth (!!!) in Moonraker is more stupid that EVERY moment in Die Another Day including the invisible car or kitesurf.
Forget it. These people have a hard-on for Daniel Craig and think they will become "cool" with Bond fans by hating on anything that isn't from his or Connery's era.
Complaining about the "Tone" or "Realism" is just a detail. The Brosnan films are bad/average because they are bad or average. Even Moonraker manages to be at least heart-lighted fun instead of bloated and wearing like 'Tomorrow Never Dies'. Besides, Die Another Day is WAY more Over the Top.
I think Moore was too smooth to play Bond. He was the one that could get into a fistfight or swim out of the ocean with his hair done and his suit pressed. He couldn't pull off the rough edge that Bond used when needed.
Ethan Hunt vs James Bond is moot. Ethan Hunt is badass because Tom Cruise plays him. Without Tom Cruise, Ethan Hunt doesn't count much. In case of James Bond however, the actor who plays James Bond isn't important. it's the character of James Bond that's important. I hope I'm wrong and many actors play Eathan Hunt in the years to come and the MI franchise remains just as awesome. it didn't work with Jason Bourne so I'm not too hopeful.
Vivek Singh Anyone can play Ethan Hunt, just depends on if they're right for the role and yes it'll be a big shoe to fill but it can be done Tom Cruise is not the be all end all of Mission Impossible.
Vivek Singh It would need to be someone with a lot of charisma hopefully he can do his own stunts. Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pine, I would put Jeremy Renner but seeing how he's already in Mission Impossible I don't think that'll work.
Anthony Dawson played the mysterious Blofeld in From Russia With Love and thunderball. His face is covered in both movies and is in the credits as "?" He was also Professor Dent in Dr. No.
I've got that beat. I've SOOOO got that beat. (And I scanned the comments, first.) You want "unbelievable James Bond facts"? Here's four more: 1) Simple Trivia: The author who wrote the James Fucking Bond books is the same guy who wrote "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". 2) Obscure Trivia: Goldeneye was the name of Ian Fleming's estate in Jamaica. 3) Cart-before-horse: Product placement has been intentional in the Bond stories even before the movies were made. Ian Fleming wrote about how he employed "the constant use of familiar household names and objects which reassure [the reader] that he and the writer have still got their feet on the ground. This is where the real names of things come in useful. A Ronson lighter, a 4.5 litre Bentley with an Amherst-Villiers supercharger (please note the solid exactitude), the Ritz Hotel in London, the 21 Club in New York, the exact names of flora and fauna, even James Bond’s Sea Island cotton shirts with short sleeves. All these details are points de repère to comfort and reassure the reader on his journey into fantastic adventure." 4) Just plain weird: The Bond films have been brought to us by the family who created George H.W. Bush's most hated vegetable... broccoli. Broccoli is a man-made hybrid of two other vegetables, and film producer Albert Romolo "Cubby" Broccoli was from the family that created it. From the LA Times: "[Albert's father] Giovanni Broccoli and his brother emigrated to Long Island from Calabria at the turn of the century. According to research done in Florence by Broccoli’s wife of 30 years, Dana, the brothers were descended from the Broccolis of Carrera, who first crossed two Italian vegetables, cauliflower and rabe, to produce the dark green, thick-stalked vegetable that took their name and eventually supported them in the United States. "Giovanni’s brother started a broccoli farm on Long Island, and soon all of Giovanni’s family worked for him. 'Myself, my brother, my mother, my father--all working on our hands and knees,' said Broccoli, who picked up the nickname Cubby (after a round-faced comic strip character) at about that time. 'Later on, we had our own farm.'”
The most interesting fact is one you didn't mention, when Roger Moore was serving his national service time in the British Army he was in a miliitary intelligence unit in West Germany.
Nice Facts: 10. The original James Bond is actually a bird seeker. He seeks lovely chicks. 9. Roger Moore retires as James Bond at the age of 57, but he looks good at his age until now he's pretty old. 8. More cast was selected to play James Bond like Liam Neeson, Goran Visnjic, Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor, and many more. 7. James Bond was born as a Scottish person. 6. He only played on role at the age of 31. 5. James Bond banged lot of gorgeous ladies more than a million. 4. We always love that theme song for many generations. 3. Pierce Brosnan is actually a killer machine. If you played "GoldenEye" from N64, he fucking kills more bastards in each level. Yes, he's probably a Die Hard video game expert from seven years. 2. Wow, Connery lost his hair at the age of 21? That was unbelievable. At least his hair stays normal in each film. and... 1. James Bond Will Return to be Alive.
The most interesting fact is that Christopher Nolan was inspiring his influences like James Bond scenes. In "The Dark Knight Rises, he references the plane scene from "License to Kill." The snowy battle scene from "Inception" was influence from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." The jump scene where Batman jumps down the building in "The Dark Knight" was even reference from the bungee jump scene from "GoldenEye." Let's not forget the moon control scene from "Interstellar" was from the Drax's satellite system from "Moonraker." Even both movies like "Batman Begins" and "Casino Royale" were both the 21st century of rebooting the new movies.
Not to mention the movie failure of ruining franchise was refer to "Die Another Day" where James Bond surf with the awful CG effect and "Batman & Robin" where Batman shows his bat nipples, bat asses, and bat credit card. How odd.
It would be interesting to know how old James Bond is. He is about 30-35 in the novels and the first novel Casino Royale was published in 1953. So this makes Bond 90-95. He is really fit!!
A fact I would have added was why Bond got his signature Walter PPK sidearm. In the first book, Bond had a different gun. A fan who knew about guns sent Fleming a letter saying how much he liked the book, but said that Bond's sidearm was unrealistic for its purpose. He proposed alternatives, including the PPK, and Fleming added that in. This is touched on in the film Dr. No, where Bond reluctantly turns in his current gun and is issued a Walter instead.
Bond has been played by a Scot (Connery), and Australian (Lazenby), a Welshman (Dalton), an Irishman (Brosnan) and even an American (though that was in an awful TV adaptation of Casino Royale and not considered canon). The only two Englishmen to play him have been Moore and Craig.
Another fact about the James Bond series is the opening credits e.g "For your Eyes Only" sung by Sheena Easton she was the only one to feature in the opening credits of all the James Bond films.
You mean the 2nd time, Sean Connery retired from the role Before Diamonds are Forever (thusly Lazenby's depressing effort) then Connery came back, and retired again, then Moore Comes in. After this Connery comes back again in the non-cannon Never say Never Again against Moore's last film. So he retired 3 times.
"Bond sleeps with a lot of women" - Wow what an UNBELIEVABLE fact, thanks for sharing!
Tim Knight 😂😂😂
Lol
I seriously wonder how many STDs he has considering he NEVER used condoms during his encounters.
Maria Fox how would u know
Everything Phenomenal the fact that he never has condoms on hand when he’s with a woman for one thing.
I feel sorry for the person who had to count all of the times that he has been shot at.

I don't agree that Brosnan was the most ridiculous Bond. True, there was the space laser weapon in Die Another Day, but Roger Moore actually went into space.
There was a space laser weapon in Diamonds are Forever too.

She said he was shot by “a sniper’s rifle”. Moneypenny was the sniper and she shot a rifle🤷🏻♂️
Damn. No details left un-included.
George Lazenby was underrated because he followed Sean. If he'd been given more time the fans would have accepted him.
I accepted him right away as Bond, but unfortunately Lazenby never returned to the role because he feared being typecast.
He did a great job in one of the best Bondfilms ever made
@@jalabi99 No , he did not return due to bad advice , also Bond was not as "in" in the late 60s and many thought 007 films would be dead by early 70s
Who THE Hell , was so bored to actually count the number of times Bond was shot at ? Kind of amazing , kind of sad

Anyone who's shot at Bond must have Stormtrooper aim.
Actually he has been hit a few times lol
It’s a film lol 🙂
😂😂
I agree with the HOT Chick!
Two issues in that sentence: stormtroopers actually have very good aim, look at the invasion of the tantum V, you can’t go around shooting and killing main characters.
Two: you can’t go around killing main characters.
RIP Sean, & Roger. You Two Are, Always, & Will Be The Best 007 Ever. No One Comes Close, PERIOD.
Timothy Dalton is underrated as Bond
+TheBreadman904 You mean OVERrated. He always looked bored.
+Karen Fahel Stoic, not bored, like the Bond in the books. Dalton was brought in as a sub until Brosnan's TV contract for "Remington Steele" was over. I think they should have kept Dalton.
David Scott No, bored. Stoic still has a level of intensity that neither me nor my husband (who is the REAL Bond fan in the family) could see.
JCBro2014"Remington Steele" was a terrible show and Brosnan was robbed.
Clint Eastwood as Bond... Movie would be 30 minutes long because Bond would've shot the villain before he could invite him into his lair.
When you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk
@Jerrol Hale Eastwood was in a kind of Bond-spy film called The Eiger Sanction. His friend played by George Kennedy was also his nemesis. I liked how he didn't know who the villain was so he killed them all.
What about Chuck Norris?
@Leo Peridot Can you put a silencer on a .44 magnum? If not, M wouldn't have allowed Bond to carry one.
@Leo Peridot It wasn't meant to be serious, but thanks.
That may save someone 13 minutes or so.
haha
Bond born in Germany

Thank you.
We need more people like you on TH-cam👏
The Scottish roots were written in because of Sean Conneries Scottish accent, skyfall being his home.
Which one of Daltons movies was over the top?
@@niels25chr1 Daltons Bonds were mor down to earth but even those had a few OTT scenes....I mean its Bond after all
@@postersandstuff Bond doesn´t come much grittier and down to earth than The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill. Only one I recall that goes beyond that would be From Russia With Love.
In my opinion Bond is best when the movies are grounded in some form of reality and put Bond into some really relevant geopolitical situations, however they still have to deliver some form of escapism.
CJ Bourne So much nonsense regarding Die Another Day...goodness.
"We love Adam West, but he made Batman look dorky." Wasn't that the whole point of the series?? To be campy? So that wasn't Adam's fault... Also, I'm amazed they didn't talk about any other actors like Cary Grant.
“He made Batman look dorky.”
Next thing you know, they’ll be saying Cesar Romero’s Joker wasn’t crazy enough.
The first actress to play Moneypenny, Lois Maxwell, stayed on until "A View to A Kill" after she originally intended to quit the role following "Diamonds Are Forever". The reason why she stayed on for so long, was because Roger Moore was a good friend of hers, and she stayed in the role during his tenure as a result.
sean connery and pierce brosnan are my favorite bonds
There are only 20 Bond Films for me

pvtrichter88 YEAH!!!!!!!
The Vodka Martini Bond always drinks is said to be shaken, not stirred.
But in reality he always gets a stirred Vodka Martini. If he had gotten a shaken, the Vodka Martini would have been opaque instead of transparent
special vodka
He gets it stirred not shaken.
Actually... in some movies he says "shaken, not stirred", in other movies it's "stirred, not shaken".
The vodka looks at the vermouth from across the bar. Shaken vodka is still clear.
It's "shaken, not stirred." Never will understand how they let this slip in reverse in "You Only Live Twice!"
The difference was that Connery and Moore got better jobs.
Brosnan was the most deadly but Dalton was definetley the darkest!
I disagree I think Craig has the most cold blooded persona...I like all the Bonds though
No one liked Dalton, because he came across as being pissed all the time. Craig is the most cold blooded (agree with John), but he's not mad.. More, "this is the job" way of cold.
Moore was (121 kills)
When will WatchMojo do a top ten over the James Bond soundtracks? probably the best scores in cinema history.
Here is my pick:
- 10. Moonraker (John Barry) 1979
Beautiful emotional score - Barry explores new ways of doing Bondmusic
A Track especially worth mentioning: The centrifuge and Corinne puts down
- 09. A View To A Kill (John Barry) 1985
Barry at his best. A memorable action theme, great love themes, and great instrumental versions of the Theme song.
A Track especially worth mentioning: Golden Gate Fight
- 08. GoldenEye (Eric Serra) 1995
Controversial and experimental score but most welcome after the series six year hiatus. Serra made a good mix of percussions and sample sounds and it was a great idea to play the Bond theme on Timpanis
A Track especially worth mentioning: The GoldenEye Overture
- 07. Thunderball (John Barry) 1965
Part os Barrys golden period. Experience great Trumpet tunes by Derek Watkins. Barry really delivers atmosphere and aggresiveness.
A Track especially worth mentioning: The Bomb
- 06. The Spy Who Loved Me (Marvin Hamlisch) 1977
Marvin Halisch gives us a score with less music but very well timed mash ups. The disco action theme works very well for Roger Moores Bond. The epic music when the sub leaves the sinking tanker Liparus at the ending is definitely worth mentioning
A Track especially worth mentioning: The Tanker
- 05. The World Is Not Enough (David Arnold) 1999
Arnolds best and most melodic shot. The World Is Not Enough is more diverse and more melodic than Tomorrow Never Dies and balances the mix of symphonic orchestra and electronic music better than Die Another Day. It succeeds in using the theme song within the score in a Barry-like fashion.
A Track especially worth mentioning: Welcome To Baku
- 04. You Only Live Twice (John Barry) 1967
Part of Barrys golden period. YOLT is a more diverse score than the two entries that came before it (Goldfinger and Thunderball) and mixes beautiful and agressive pieces very well. The score is far better than the movie.
A Track especially worth mentioning: The Wedding
- 03. Diamonds´Are Forever (John Barry) 1971
The end of Barrys Golden Period and the end of the Connery-era.
Diamonds Are Forever has a weak point: The Action music, but the rest of the score works just perfectly. It makes good use of the theme song within the score and it has some very beautiful stellar tracks alongside the suspense music.
A Track especially worth mentioning: Death at the Whyte House
- 02. The Living Daylights (John Barry) 1987
John Barry leaves the Bond franchise on a high. The score for Daltons first outing as Bond is nothing else but a masterpiece. Barry delivers a strong score with great and updated action music, a fantastic love theme and some very dark tracks that help distinguish Daltons Bond from Roger Moores Bond.
A Track especially worth mentioning: Murder At The Fair
Honourable Mentions: Live and Let Die (George Martin) 1973, Die Another Day (David Arnold) 2002, For Your Eyes Only (Bill Conti) 1981
- 01. On Her Majesty´s Secret Service (John Barry) 1969
The peak of Barrys Golden Period.
Most macho Bond, Sean Connery
The coolest Bond, Roger Moore
Most suave Bond, Pierce Brosnan
Closest to Flemings´ litterary Bond, Timothy Dalton
I think I can agree on that !👍
The actor that never got cast but wondered how he would played the role- Jeremy brett
Other Facts
Timothy Dalton was approached many times to take the role since OHMSS, live And Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy Then A View To A Kill, but then he was Offered to the unmade unofficial bond film "Warhead"
Thunderball was Remade 4 times since the 50's but never made, the original 1965 then Never Say Never Again and then the unmade unofficial film "Warhead"
The Producers and Desmond Llewellyn loves Timothy Dalton's Bond and working with him
When the Producers cast Daniel Craig, because of the Daniel Craig's Movie "Layer Cake" as Agent xxxx, also Daniel Craig And Ben Wishaw worked together twice sincr Layer Cake then Skyfall
Sam Neill Was almost bond in the living daylights as he performed a screen test, the critics love him sam neill as bond but the producers feels doesnt right for the role so they chose pierce brosnan and Timothy Dalton was the 2 candidate
There might be now 26 official bond films if the third bond film Property of A Lady 1991 and Bond 93,
Unmade Bond Films:
Property Of A Lady 1991
Bond 93
Casino Royale 1999
Once Upon A Spy
Warhead
Thunderball 50s
Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan was Almost a Bond Director
Pierce Brosnan Confessed to be the Worst bond actor after The World Is Not Enough
Timothy Dalton's Bond was considerably the best and underrated
Almost bond actors:

Liam Neeson
Sean Bean
Clive Owen
Henry Cavill
Christian Bale
Ewan Mcgregor

If you watch the first two Bond films you can see how good Connery was. After Goldfinger, everything was just formula until Daniel Craig.
Sean bean is villain in Goldeneyw
I never knew about S Neil but I've said all along C Owen would have been a great Bond
Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan the best 007´s
Brosnan almost killed the series. Well...the producers helped a lot too.
Spot on! It’s not Brosnans fault the producers made a mess of the films
Roger moore 👍 Sean Connery and brosnan
6- Timothy Dalton
5- roger moore
4- Daniel Craig
3- George lazenby
2- pierce Brosnan
1- Sean Connery
@Big Dick Playaaa He would never have pulled off "From Russia With Love".
James Bond is actually half Scottish and half Swiss. According to the book, His parents obituary in You Only Live Twice, Andrew Bond and Monique Delacroix-Bond died in a climbing accident in the French Alps, orphaning him at the age of 11 with his aunt.
Glad you did a video about bond keep up the good work
Rip roger Moore
Best WatchMojo intro ever!!!
RIP Roger Moore, nobody did it better.
Moore and Connery were the 2 best.
Not in my book, Chris. Sean Connery is the first AND best of them all!!
Brosnan and Dalton were better. Y'all just didn't like him because y'all are too old n weren't use to James bond being a killer. You guys still fantasize about bond making a corney joke after each 50s Batman fight scene.
Richard Harper lmao live and let die and man with the golden gun don’t some jokey to me I like brosnan and dalton too but you dumb bro
Connery coolest. Craig the meanest. In the end, it was Moore who brought people into theaters over and over.
Almost 10 million subscribers, congratulations! You're videosaker are much appritiated :)
I like the Craig movies best, but Connerys character best
Yes Connery for the win
Brosnan was actually one of the best bonds
Yes dude he is nice bond I'm big fan of him
No he wasn't. Too small, too much hair, not enough eyebrows. Too babyfaced. Not James Bond. Good actor, just not James Bond. Sorry.
bird10498 Too small? Bro he is like 6'3"
@@bird10498 He tried too hard. Overacting. That's why Roger Moore was my favorite. He brought humor to the character.
@@daboys1215 Ian Fleming, who wrote the Bond books, said Moore was more like the Bond he had in mind.
I would be happy to see Pierce again.
Me tooo
Tom Riener Are you taking the piss? Bland Bond, silly films. Watch the Matador though He is great in that and a good film. Each to their own though fella. You liked him, fair enough.
Totally agree. Brosnan was handed crap for stories, but still made them pretty great. Daniel Craig is not Bond, as far as I’m concerned. Connery is the best.
6. Lazenby (largely forgettable)
5. Dalton (played a great Bond, but his tenure was so brief, that he was unable to leave a significant impact on the character)
4. Moore (his films ranged from good to awful, but he remains the longest running Bond placeholder to date)
3. Brosnan (aesthetically, the perfect Bond. But, all his films sucked, except for Goldeneye)
2. Craig (the most complex and emotionally developed Bond yet. Also, the best acting)
1. Connery (the face of James Bond. A true icon)
1. Daniel Craig, well developed character, good acting less reliant on Bond gimmicks
2. Lazenby, well acted, closer portrail to the books, not gimmick (broccoli also highly impressed, if you had spent time watch behind scenes.
3. Connery, he developed into the character and persona of bond
S N. I kinda liked the World is not Enough with Brosnan. But, it was his only good film.
Barry Super. 👍 that wad agood one.
Here's an interesting point; in the classic Bond theme, the iconic guitar riff kicks in at 0.07 seconds.
Yeah
Lazenby played the part of Bond well. He was lucky to play the part in the best Bond film too. The Bond who never was is Lewis Collins. Dalton got the part.
Connery, Moore and then Brosnan, 1,2,3..perfect.
Bronson starred in the most over the top Bond films? Uhhh, they had a flying car and were fighting, in space, with laser guns, in Moore's films. Do you even Bond bro?
Moore's Bond films were the most gadget-ridden. Q got LOTS of work from him
By the way, the man's name is B-R-O-S-N-A-N
That's nothing when compared to the INVISIBLE CAR, SOLAR LASER, and the TSUNAMI SURF. Die Another Day was far sillier than Moonraker.
No.1: Timothy Dalton is underrated.
Oh my God! Here it is guys! The first good list from WM in 2015
Timothy Dalton is underrated as Bond. if i wanted a bond to save the world it would be him.
I know this is late but I had to say it, Bond was married in fact it has been mentioned in 3 Bond movies with different ppl playing him before Daniel Crage, and Telly Savalas played a Bond villain as well
pierce brosnan was originally cast to play in Casino Royale.
Ghawk pierce wanted to act, but was rejected due to an extra expense of 50 mil or something
Ghawk. They should have given Clive Owens a shot at Casino Royal.
You overlooked Australian-raised Irish-American Mel Gibson (Rejected The Offer), North Irish Liam Neeson (Rejected The Offer), and Robert Pattinson (Was Rejected For Hygienic Issues).
Plus bunch of forgotten TV actors (James Brolin etc.).
Sam Neil was another.
John Gavin was PAID for Diamonds are Forever....
dirtypms. Liam Neeson would have made an interesting Bond. He's got Bond like characteristics.
Hygienic issues???... [What] Worst case of Halitosis ?... Or did he smell like a sack of rotten potatoes ?
piers brosnan was my favorite bond
Best looking Bond of all of them.
Lazenby did a fine job. In fact On Her Majesty's Secret Service is probably in the top 3-4 Bond films
Yea,agree
Thank you for this 😍
Skyfall was not the only time he was seriously wounded... He was killed in You Only Live Twice. Hence the name
After connery my favorite Bond actor is still Brosnan
He only did one classic film - Goldeneye. I can just about watch the one with Marceau, but it's got issues too.
Watchmojo: “#1 Bond has been shot at a lot!”
Me: No shit sherlock
While its true that Bond's mother was Scottish, and the family manor was in Scotland, Ion Flemming always said his father was Swiss. That was why Bond was such a good skier, up until his parents were killed in an avalanche they took young Bond skiing in dad's Swiss alps several times a year. Bond saw them die and it was a major factor in developing his personality. Thanks for posting!
we have snow and ski resorts in Scotland ole chap, dashed strange you don't know that..
Alright, I did find you XD Though, kinda late cause this comment is far far far far far far far .... far far far... far far away from the top. XD
Woody Allen as Jimmy Bond in Casino Royale (1967): "My doctor says that I should never have bullets enter my body at any time! You realise this means an angry letter from the Times?!?" LOL
Its good to know that the most iconic English man is Scottish oh Freedom

+Tig Trager Freedom!
+Tig Trager already see England go out in the first round
+Tig Trager England will get knocked oot in the first round of the euros
+Cameron Gemmell That's still one more round than Scotland will play in.
favourites are - Roger, Pierce and Craig.
but who would win in a fight? Bourne or Bond?
Bond, of course. 007 is simply the best.
SmOkEy. Roger ! Because, he would fight dirty.
R.I.P. Burt Reynolds
Goldeneye and Tomorrow never dies are my favorite. Brosnan is the best.
He only made one classic film.
I hated Brosnan, worst Bond ever for me. Just my opinion. His films were weak.
Brosnan Bond movies are just stupid, weak and simply bad. And he as a Bond was the worst one: charmless, lukewarm, unbelievable.
Henry Cavill almost played James Bond for Casino Royale (2006). But the producers said he was too young. I'd cast him as the next James Bond.
Supermovies. He looks the part. But, I don't know ? He's kinda bland even as Superman.
Supermovies. Karl Urban from the Dread movie would make an excellent Bond.
Still cant believe that it wasn't Timothy Dalton who had killed the most men, given that that was the sort of Bond he aimed to play.
"Well hey there miss moneypusseh.. Wanna jump on my jet pack?"
Hmm so now this brings up and important question. Will you guys do a versus with Ethan Hunt vs James Bond??
+Cool Jhags I hope that's true... who do you think should play the next Hunt?
Vivek Singh It would need to be someone with a lot of charisma hopefully he can do his own stunts.
Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pine, I would put Jeremy Renner but seeing how he's already in Mission Impossible I don't think that'll work.
Bricks and Pieces Animation where?
Anthony Dawson played the mysterious Blofeld in From Russia With Love and thunderball. His face is covered in both movies and is in the credits as "?" He was also Professor Dent in Dr. No.
Woah audio comments what a sweet update ▶️1:25_______________⏪
You got me
I've got that beat. I've SOOOO got that beat. (And I scanned the comments, first.) You want "unbelievable James Bond facts"? Here's four more:
1) Simple Trivia: The author who wrote the James Fucking Bond books is the same guy who wrote "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang".
All these details are points de repère to comfort and reassure the reader on his journey into fantastic adventure."
4) Just plain weird: The Bond films have been brought to us by the family who created George H.W. Bush's most hated vegetable... broccoli. Broccoli is a man-made hybrid of two other vegetables, and film producer Albert Romolo "Cubby" Broccoli was from the family that created it. From the LA Times:
"[Albert's father] Giovanni Broccoli and his brother emigrated to Long Island from Calabria at the turn of the century.
"..but West made Batman look like a dork"?
That was the joke, he was supposed to be funny :P
+Sams ChanneI and entertaining and at least he had an understandable voice XD
Too smart for them Sam! :)
Afonso Lucas haha true I guess
He could go to be James Bond
Right; the Batman TV show was decidedly camp. And also appealed to the kiddies.
The most interesting fact is one you didn't mention, when Roger Moore was serving his national service time in the British Army he was in a miliitary intelligence unit in West Germany.
Nice Facts:
He is really fit!!
brosnan was the best
ERRATUM: Bond is not only scottish but scottish by his father and helvetic by his mother.
Brosnan was the best Bond, even if his movies were less than great. Craig's too serious and broody to be the best.
Eric Hall. He needs to lighten up. Why so serious ?
Actually Daniel Craig is the closest to what Ian Fleming had in mind.
Patrick: Hey SpongeBob, I can see you through this drinking str-
Seriously? Ever green??? It's pronounced E-VA
+McAssassin98 We get it WALL-E
NO ! THIS IS PATRICK !
+McAssassin98 *EVA Unit 01
Tyler Durden Yes they did.
+McAssassin98 They also pronounce "Lazenby" very wrongly...
*FACT #1:*
I'm a much better secret agent.
+Solid Snake Nah, Splinter is. Hold this L
No
***** The box is a tool, not a home.
nice
+Silent Enigma Shot's fired
Bond has been played by a Scot (Connery), and Australian (Lazenby), a Welshman (Dalton), an Irishman (Brosnan) and even an American (though that was in an awful TV adaptation of Casino Royale and not considered canon). The only two Englishmen to play him have been Moore and Craig.
MP. Yeah ! That old Casino Royal from 67 was an abomination. A parody at best. Although, Peter Sellers was interesting as Bond.
It's a wonder STDs alone haven't offed the MI5 agent! lol
Bond is MI6
C/mon!!! He's MI6
Q fitted him with a Perma-condom- it's standard issue for MI6 agents
You know what you should do:
Top 10 James Bond Henchmen.
And don't forget to include Jaws in there!
Fact..Timothy Dalton is the best 007
Neil Parga Lol, that muslim is nowhere near Sir Sean Connery.
You mean Pierce
But to be honest, I liked Lazenby as Bond, he was good! And he does fit in the role!
"A FEW GOOD KILLS" WOULD MAKE A GREAT TITLE FPR A JAMES BOND STORY
Another fact about the James Bond series is the opening credits e.g "For your Eyes Only" sung by Sheena Easton she was the only one to feature in the opening credits of all the James Bond films.
pierce brosnan by far the best
Good Intro!!! Bravo!!!
James Brolin also tried to get the part of James Bond but was rejected after auditioning for it
Dd Dd. He was good in The Car and Amityville Horror. But, James Bond ? I don't think so !
Top Bonds:
1. Sean Connery
2. Pierce Brosnan
3. Roger Moore (young)
4. Patrick Swayze
4. Daniel Craig
5. T. Dalton
Patrick Swayze never played any role in James Bond movies let alone playing the main character.
Magnet, that was a joke, dummy. Get a sense of humor.
Woody Allen was also the only person to play both a Bond villain and James Bond at the same time.
He played Jimmy Bond, James Bond's nephew.
Vacuous Truth. That was a parody of Bond. David Niven also played Bond in that movie. 67 I think it was.
Vacuous Truth. Oh ! And Peter Sellers. He, wasn't that bad actually.
Tony Benevides. You know your Bond history. I'm impressed Mr.B. That sounds like an arch villian. Doesn't it ?
