I swear, when this was going on I remember my Mom telling me "That didn't seem right. She didn't actually cry. There were no tears. Something about this isn't right". The next day they were showing it again my Mom insisted there was just something off about her reaction. Then it came out she's the murderer. My Mom told me later that after it came out she killed them, my biological father called (they were divorced) and talked to my Mom and thanked her for being such a good Mom to my brother and I.

The solicitor put it so eloquently. The jury’s intent was for her to be there for life, not 30 years with possibility of parole every couple of years. If they had known that life would be seen differently now and there was a possibility that she wouldn’t in fact spend her life (as their intention was) she may have gotten death.

The victim impact statements were heartwrenching. So many people were traumatized by her actions. I can't begin to imagine the emotions of everyone witnessing the recovery of those two tiny bodies. Thank you to the DA, the investigators, the many family members and friends who were there to stand for Michael and Alex, two beautiful, innocent babies whose lives were ended by a narcissistic, calloused woman.

I was in Leath Correctional for 3&1/2 years living in the same cell block with her...she is very quiet and stays to herself mostly. She does get money sent to her and even helps other inmates who are indigent. She had books written about her and her crime but the warden didn't allow them on the compound for safety reasons. Who knows if she is truly remorseful...she doesn't talk about her crime or life before prison

In a court system wchich does as many errors as the US system, it is actually necessary to have lots of hearings and second reviews of things. If you folks tried to get on par with the developed world in that respect, that wouldn't be as necessary to have. But it is as important to make sure innocent or wrongly judged people get fair treatment, as it is to punish criminals.

Then, he is wrong again when he classifies the "story" as "really a mental health story". What a clown! Mental illness doesn't excuse murder in the legal profession. For example, in Iowa v Dieckmann, the criminal defenders argued that Michael Dieckmann’s struggles with schizophrenia. However, the jury got it right in the trial in 2019 understanding that his "mental illness" do not excused him from his criminal prosecution for killing his mother and grandmother. The state argued this effectively: “The fact that he’s mentally ill plays very little part in our charging decisions". "If he’s legally insane, that is a wholly different determination than if he’s mentally ill,” prosecutor Wilber said in an interview. Probably well over half the folks that are in the US prison system suffer from mental illness. The basic questions of legal insanity, however, are: Does the person know the difference between right and wrong? Does the person understand the nature and quality of their acts?” Game over Mr. Thomas, and game over Susan Smith!
I can still feel and see the horrible pain on David's face. Such a sad situation for him. The pain of this thing will never ever be over for him. Actually, eleven. A family pulled up to see the memorial for Michael and Alex Their brakes failed, and their van rolled into the lake. There were babies in that van. Examination of the van later included that it wasn’t anything the Adult behind the wheel did, it was just an old van and the brakes just broke down If Susan hadn’t drowned Michael and Alex in that lake, there would never have been a Memorial and there would’ve never been a reason for that family to be there. As far as I’m aware, they came from out of state. So, that’s 11 lives as far as I know

I swear, when this was going on I remember my Mom telling me "That didn't seem right. She didn't actually cry. There were no tears. Something about this isn't right". The next day they were showing it again my Mom insisted there was just something off about her reaction. Then it came out she's the murderer.
My Mom told me later that after it came out she killed them, my biological father called (they were divorced) and talked to my Mom and thanked her for being such a good Mom to my brother and I.
It gave me chills because it sounded the exact same as in 1994.

The solicitor put it so eloquently. The jury’s intent was for her to be there for life, not 30 years with possibility of parole every couple of years. If they had known that life would be seen differently now and there was a possibility that she wouldn’t in fact spend her life (as their intention was) she may have gotten death.

The victim impact statements were heartwrenching. So many people were traumatized by her actions. I can't begin to imagine the emotions of everyone witnessing the recovery of those two tiny bodies. Thank you to the DA, the investigators, the many family members and friends who were there to stand for Michael and Alex, two beautiful, innocent babies whose lives were ended by a narcissistic, calloused woman.

I was in Leath Correctional for 3&1/2 years living in the same cell block with her...she is very quiet and stays to herself mostly. She does get money sent to her and even helps other inmates who are indigent. She had books written about her and her crime but the warden didn't allow them on the compound for safety reasons. Who knows if she is truly remorseful...she doesn't talk about her crime or life before prison

In a court system wchich does as many errors as the US system, it is actually necessary to have lots of hearings and second reviews of things. If you folks tried to get on par with the developed world in that respect, that wouldn't be as necessary to have. But it is as important to make sure innocent or wrongly judged people get fair treatment, as it is to punish criminals.

I thought who could do this! Then, it started to shift more and more towards her and I'm like HOWWWWW could she unalive her children and for a man at that!! No sympathy for her.

However, the jury got it right in the trial in 2019 understanding that his "mental illness" do not excused him from his criminal prosecution for killing his mother and grandmother. The state argued this effectively: “The fact that he’s mentally ill plays very little part in our charging decisions". "If he’s legally insane, that is a wholly different determination than if he’s mentally ill,” prosecutor Wilber said in an interview. Probably well over half the folks that are in the US prison system suffer from mental illness. The basic questions of legal insanity, however, are: Does the person know the difference between right and wrong? I can still feel and see the horrible pain on David's face. Such a sad situation for him. The pain of this thing will never ever be over for him. She not only has to stay in prison to pay for what she did to Michael and Alex she needs to stay there some extra time for what she did to David and his family. Such an all around horrifically painful thing for everyone to go through. I just wonder if Susan has every given any of that one single thought? I wish i could give David a hug of healing. If i could, i would take away just a tiny speck of his pain. And i hope Susan had to listen to all those testimonies of the pain of those family members.

A family pulled up to see the memorial for Michael and Alex
Their brakes failed, and their van rolled into the lake.
There were babies in that van.
Examination of the van later included that it wasn’t anything the Adult behind the wheel did, it was just an old van and the brakes just broke down
If Susan hadn’t drowned Michael and Alex in that lake, there would never have been a Memorial and there would’ve never been a reason for that family to be there.
As far as I’m aware, they came from out of state.
