  • Sensei Guy Hagen demonstrates 18 different flexibility and warmup exercises performed with a jo (short staff), inspired by Yoga and a few decades of various martial arts practices. The short staff provides excellent leverage and expansion for opening up your lats and upper back, and for building flexibility in your shoulders.
    As always - train safely, and don't do anything that your doctor would make your doctor roll her eyes.

    MartialArts can be used as therapy by many moves and exercises. I myself was recoverd from a pain in my knee by starting practising material arts exercises like stretching ones. Thanks again! Have a great day and life!

    Been working the Jo for 20 years. My favorite weapon training. I’ve been doing these stretches that long. Great tool. My Jo is a 5.5 ft 3/4 inch closet pole. I ordered a Jo online. Feels like a twig compared to my closet pole.🤣🤣🤣Merry Christmas Sensei. Live your details of the Principles of Aiki. Oss.

    These stretches are really excellent. Sensei's cold stare is, however, somewhat hard to take! Still a keeper.
