Peter, whenever I see your videos you make me want to just forget about planning and draw freely. It looks like it would be good for stress relief. And you always make me want a fountain pen. That iris one is so pretty.
Dear Peter. I just want you to know - you are saving me from going crazy by helping me with my insomia. I just get calm, safe and rekaxed while listening to you Talking about pens and art. Thank you.
I recently discovered your channel. You have inspired me to dust off my old art supplies and start drawing again! It has been at least a decade since I tried to create a piece of art. As a teenager I thought art was going to be my career. Either way it is nice to draw again. That pen is pretty cool.
Pretty sure I own or have owned at least one of every fountain pen TWSBI makes. They're an awesome company making premium quality pens at a price that reflects their utilitarian design.
He's honestly one of my favorite people! And all he does is draw and use fancy pens! Maybe it's his voice, maybe it just him. Either way, my love this man is strongggg #peopleyouwishwereyourfriends
@14:00 - Short primer on air pressure (and "vacuums"). Air pressure at sea level on earth is approximately 15 psi. Lower pressures (than 15 psi) we tend to refer to as a "vacuum"... all the way down to 0 psi (i.e. a perfect "vacuum", as may be found in intergalactic space). What is actually happening when you fill this pen is create a lower pressure (than atmospheric pressure) inside the barrel by depressing the plunger; when the plunger seal "pops", atmospheric pressure (pushing on the top of the ink in the ink bottle) pushes the ink into the barrel. TLDR version: vacuums don't "suck" - surrounding, higher pressure air "pushes". This is why the vacuum of space doesn't "suck" the atmosphere off the earth.
I got my eye on this pen and a few others from TWSBI I started using fountain pens again because of you thank you so much I forgot how much I loved them, defiantly will be adding this to my pen collection that's for sure
@@SeraSophia646 Nothing yet but Peters video inspired me to put a black in and as the only black I have right now is Carbon Black (that I do not want in the mechanism), I ordered Iroshizuku take-sumi last night and it should be here in a few days.
I got that pen in a broad nib in the first batch that TWSBI produced. Love it. Almost got another in fine when they did a new run of them, but ultimately decided not to get a second one. When I had to clean it, I ended up needing to take it apart to actually get it all clean. I haven’t gotten one yet, but TWSBI makes a special vacuum filling ink well. With it you can get it pretty much completely filled with no risk of accidentally shooting ink all over the place when you push the piston down. The other ink wells they sell can use on the TWSBI piston fillers except the Eco and Go to fill the pen without putting the nib down in the ink.
Peter I did my own unboxing from Goldspot today. I recieved my Peter Pen, it feels like Xmas. Its a lovely pen, I have not used it yet I will after watching this video. Thank you
The plunger pressurizes the ink chamber up until the very end when the chamber itself widens and the motion allows the exchange of air for ink as the sudden pressure change creates a vacuum. I hope that makes sense.
I had to look up the TWSBI name. 'TWSBI's name stands for the phrase "Hall of Three Cultures" or "San Wen Tong" in Chinese. The character "Wen" translates into language and culture. The phrase "San Wen Tong" also brings to mind the Hall of the Three Rare Treasures created by Emperor Qianlong as a memorial to three great masterpieces of Chinese calligraphy. The initials of the phrase "San Wen Tong" was reversed and thus turned into "TWS". The last letters "Bi" was added with its literal meaning of "writing instruments". Thus combining the two segments, creating TWSBI.'
I love you Peter and the hoops but now I not only have to explain to my gf why I’m watching a pen vacuum video but also why I’m watching pen vacuum video presented by a guy with hoops. “I don’t know honey but tell me rn he doesn’t look fabulous”
Does the phone- and waterbottle-sticker come with a phone and/or waterbottle? Or is there a seperate promo code for that? Great video as always!! Smudging is always an issue.. I always find disappointing to look back in old sketchbook and see how the drawings sort of "smudge" together...
I'm supposed to be going to bed right now but instead I'm over here watching Peter Draw with a pen that I already own. 😂😂😂 And it WILL hold more ink, Peter.. there's a trick to getting it done. I think Goulet Pens did the video on it if I'm not mistaken. It's easier to watch that video to get the gist rather than me trying to explain it lol. Oh, and Pilot inks are amazeballs!!💜
I have a question for you. Your answer will help full for me... How to digitalize your hand-drawn drawings. ?? Can you plz make you're a full video. Many of us do not know your drawing is very critical for Illustrator. So I asked.
I have written it again, you are crazy .... I want you as my friend. you are the inspiration for all of us who started our own channel. always be inventive Peter. your fan from Greece. Have fun all of you who are in his team
Huh. I was checking the dry times for Noodler's Black (NB) and Platinum Carbon Black (PCB) compared to TWSBI Black (TB) on Mountain of Ink. Both NB & PCB had *slower* dry times than TB, but TB was considered a wet ink compared to NB's unknown and PCB's wetter than average. Might be just the wetness and/or the sketchbook for the smudging.
You definitely could use an anti-fouling glove! I've bought one and it "absorbs" the ink whenever I accidentally rest my hand on my paper. It still kinda depends on the paper but it definitely has reduced the smudging accidents.

Quick question for you folks who own the pen: How satisfying is the ink sucking up part when you do it in real life?
