What if our relatives and friends will write reviews for the editorial reviews section, but their occupations are not related to the book topic? Why would I bother to disturb them?

I personally used next level ninjas guys when i first launched my product.They helped me to get verified reviews from real customers and later i got on the first page!!So maybe you should check them, they are really good at what they are doing
Thank you for sharing this list, because I agree going to your family and friends can be very discouraging. Unfortunately sometimes total strangers show greater enthusiasm for your book than your own family and friends.
It is true!! Sometimes strangers ARE the best supporters but that is also because their life isn't impacted by your success ... your friends and family can feel threatened by the possibility of change or because they have some feelings like they haven't lived up to their own potential and those feelings can subconsciously hold them back from TRULY supporting you. Others are just self absorbed. ;)
@@BookLaunchers Relatives in particular often think of us as we were oh so many years ago. There's a quote in the Bible about that how Prophets are despised in their own country. I wouldn't quite say despised... just not necessarily all our raving fans. But, ptl, SOME ARE. And some are clients....

Wow! Yes, I used to be very diligent about reviewing every book I read but I have even falling behind on that! It is hard to get reviews but so worth it.
Yeah for it's first review. Where you can, make a list from the beginning of your publishing or just start now for all the ones already out with the 4 categories of peeps to approach. The follow up video about the need to do a personal approach for every one matters. I have a list of peeps, and it's just a short format ebook. But I KNOW how lonely the book page looks with .... no... reviews. Oh my. Be willing to send free PDFs. I think Julie goes into that more in her follow up video from THIS week. Start approaching and focus major efforts on 5 people to really get 3 more reviews. Did you sign up at BookLaunchers.com for her Game Plan pdf? It's very useful. Great tips as always! I mentioned to the pastor's wife my idea for the non-fiction I'm writing, and she wants to add it to her mentoring program when I have it completed. I think I'd be okay asking her to give a review, but probably not the pastor who I have been getting feedback from for writing it, correct? He is not necessarily helping me write it as much as offering which scriptures to reference, so maybe he actually could since he isn't "working on" my book so there is no bias...but we are a church family so maybe that is a "bias" to avoid? Also, I know it is off topic of today's video, but is there a video on recommended length of a non-fiction book? I am in the drafting phases still, but I don't foresee this being a several hundred page book, but I also don't want a brief thought with a fancy cover on it either ;)
Technically the pastor would be someone who worked on your book but I also think it's in the grey area ... worst thing that can happen is that your review gets removed but that is not that likely. I think it's fine. Giving you SCRIPTURES to reference is like shortcutting you having to search at BlueLetterBible dot com. And if you're tithing, then he's in Group 4! ♥ I often cite at the beginning of my reviews in some way that I'm a biased reviewer because I already love their books or have meet them IRL. But it's pretty obvious that I read the book, so nothing's ever been removed. I think that kind of kind caveat, "my wife is such a fan, she's using it in her mentor group, I had to read it, too." plus a few other phrases, and you're probably fine. And if Amazon removes his review, just remember, God will strike them down with a bolt of lightning. ♥ (I'm Christian with a sense of humor and great reverence for the Lord. You can pay for reviews you just can't pay for good reviews ... it has to be an honest review but there are services like Netgalley that we use for getting reviews.

In one of my videos I show how someone would have to sift through the thousands of reviews on Amazon looking for those that have a website. It's ugly work and it takes forever to find anyone now as Amazon changed what they show. It's probably faster to buy a list of reviewers from someone now.

....Anymore on Amazon there really isn't much of a way that you can actually contact the reviewer of another book...Such as some I've seen that left good reviews on another book. When I clicked on their name there wasn't even a way to contact them, and when I tried to find the person on Facebook I never was able to locate them to ask in the first place.

I gave up on book reviews a long time ago. For years, I've been review begging people to read my books and the results have been terrible. I could barely get one review out of my many books and I die a little inside. It hurts more when my books get slammed hard, saying it's been written by an amateur and saying English is like a second language which I'm always criticized by beta readers. I've even paid for reviews and that was a big no-no because they gave you a five star review that feels fake. I at least give credit to the paid reviewers that they paid attention and read a bit of my book for the first few chapters and the last chapter, which is I assume what they did. I just don't see the point anymore and I keep getting angrier when people post "How to get book reviews on Amazon" and shove their successful "book review gaining stories" in my face. No offense. I guess you are just one of the lucky ones. I know publishing isn't an easy road but it certainly isn't making it appealing. I just want to write my book, promote for a while and hoping to get someone to read it and move along. That's all and I'm done with finding people to review my books. Although, that AM Club sound interesting. I might check that out.

Influencers! All of the TH-camrs and Instagrammers and bloggers that review books. I write fiction, so it's a tad easier. But honestly, k those avenues are available for free to authors in any genre.
So much of this type of helpful information is geared to non-fiction. It is so hard to find the same info for fiction writers. Some of it is transferable, but I find much of it (talk to your colleagues & competitors in your field for example) just does not apply. It is actually rather frustrating. I can't tell you how many of these videos I get halfway through with an eyebrow raised at the odd advise before the speaker finally says, "your nonfiction book" and it makes sense why they told me to tap into some mystical network of motivational speakers.

I mentioned to the pastor's wife my idea for the non-fiction I'm writing, and she wants to add it to her mentoring program when I have it completed. I think I'd be okay asking her to give a review, but probably not the pastor who I have been getting feedback from for writing it, correct? He is not necessarily helping me write it as much as offering which scriptures to reference, so maybe he actually could since he isn't "working on" my book so there is no bias...but we are a church family so maybe that is a "bias" to avoid?
Also, I know it is off topic of today's video, but is there a video on recommended length of a non-fiction book? I am in the drafting phases still, but I don't foresee this being a several hundred page book, but I also don't want a brief thought with a fancy cover on it either ;)
Technically the pastor would be someone who worked on your book but I also think it's in the grey area ... worst thing that can happen is that your review gets removed but that is not that likely. I say - go for it!

I think it's fine. Giving you SCRIPTURES to reference is like shortcutting you having to search at BlueLetterBible dot com. And if you're tithing, then he's in Group 4! ♥ I often cite at the beginning of my reviews in some way that I'm a biased reviewer because I already love their books or have meet them IRL. But it's pretty obvious that I read the book, so nothing's ever been removed. I think that kind of kind caveat, "my wife is such a fan, she's using it in her mentor group, I had to read it, too." plus a few other phrases, and you're probably fine. And if Amazon removes his review, just remember, God will strike them down with a bolt of lightning. ♥ (I'm Christian with a sense of humor and great reverence for the Lord. You can pay for reviews you just can't pay for good reviews ... it has to be an honest review but there are services like Netgalley that we use for getting reviews.

In one of my videos I show how someone would have to sift through the thousands of reviews on Amazon looking for those that have a website. It's ugly work and it takes forever to find anyone now as Amazon changed what they show. It's probably faster to buy a list of reviewers from someone now.

Thanks for this video. If I source reviewers on Amazon, how do I send author copies? My book is print only, it is non-fiction. What is the most cost effective way to send copies to reviewers?
Use the author copies feature inside of KDP Print.

Are the reviews from people we know allowed if the author sends them a link and asks to leave a review when the book goes live for free download? Does Amazon always delete those kind of reviews (after detecting that an author copied the link and sent to reviewers)?
Nothing is absolutely clear with Amazon but the more removed from you the reviews are the better!

....Anymore on Amazon there really isn't much of a way that you can actually contact the reviewer of another book...Such as some I've seen that left good reviews on another book. When I clicked on their name there wasn't even a way to contact them, and when I tried to find the person on Facebook I never was able to locate them to ask in the first place.

I gave up on book reviews a long time ago. For years, I've been review begging people to read my books and the results have been terrible. I could barely get one review out of my many books and I die a little inside. It hurts more when my books get slammed hard, saying it's been written by an amateur and saying English is like a second language which I'm always criticized by beta readers. I've even paid for reviews and that was a big no-no because they gave you a five star review that feels fake. I at least give credit to the paid reviewers that they paid attention and read a bit of my book for the first few chapters and the last chapter, which is I assume what they did. I just don't see the point anymore and I keep getting angrier when people post "How to get book reviews on Amazon" and shove their successful "book review gaining stories" in my face. No offense. I guess you are just one of the lucky ones. I know publishing isn't an easy road but it certainly isn't making it appealing. I just want to write my book, promote for a while and hoping to get someone to read it and move along. That's all and I'm done with finding people to review my books. Although, that AM Club sound interesting. I might check that out.

Influencers! All of the TH-camrs and Instagrammers and bloggers that review books. I write fiction, so it's a tad easier. But honestly, k those avenues are available for free to authors in any genre.

So much of this type of helpful information is geared to non-fiction. It is so hard to find the same info for fiction writers. Some of it is transferable, but I find much of it (talk to your colleagues & competitors in your field for example) just does not apply. It is actually rather frustrating. I can't tell you how many of these videos I get halfway through with an eyebrow raised at the odd advise before the speaker finally says, "your nonfiction book" and it makes sense why they told me to tap into some mystical network of motivational speakers.
My channel is only non-fiction but there are some great fiction authors on TH-cam!
