I gotta say that now that I've played with Oz11 a bit more it has helped tremendously to bring life to old mixes that were recorded with sub-par gear and it was night and day difference. I think using the stems in any module plus the sustain/transient plus Clarity modules have also helped a lot in that regard. The only thing that needs mentioning is that if you want to work on stems separately you have to open another instance of Oz11 in your DAW. Nobody has mentioned that yet...

Don't regret the purchase at all. So much better out of the gate in terms of giving you a great starting position. Actually getting used to not having the standalone but would love that to come back with more features like in track automation...but glad I started learning project page in studio one.

The clarity module alone is worth the price of admission
Yes...mono transients on especially the bass. Nicely done on this vid. I have this softyware...upward compress is tremendously accurate...my productions are more vocal oriented...Country, pop..with a LOT of dynamic range, especially on verse one, and maybe a breakdown chorus...this feature is a blessing, so as not to over-compress or limit.

I was never a fan of Ozone but now it replaced my standard master chain.Tried it on finished tracks and it sounded already better with a few steps.

Interesting to think that as far as mastering is concerned, you can do things with this software that you can't begin to dream of doing with the most expensive outboard hardware. I hope people working as mastering engineers have a good plan B.

Wouldn’t they just utilize this as well? Whether it’s hardware or software it’s all a tool?
@@ReginaldReggSmith They might. But, it's a tool designed to let people do it themselves, without needing to go to a professional. Kind of like the way music copying software eliminated the need for composers to hire specialized music engravers that etched the music into plates.
And actually, mastering engineers with big racks of expensive gear would probably tend to want to avoid using something like Ozone 11 in front of clients. You'd want to preserve the idea that the big rack of hardware was better in some way, and that you're offering something that can't be done with Ozone 11.
@@LeeBlaske agreed, it makes the mastering process so much more accessible to everyone. It's invaluable for both professionals and bedroom engineers alike. I openly use Ozone for client mastering sessions in tandem with other plugins and analog hardware that I find sonically unique / helpful in my workflow. It's not ultimately about the tools you use, just how you use them :)

It's a polarizing mic... I personally like it on certain voices when processed properly. It's VERY hyped in both the low end and the high end. That makes it very detailed and upfront in the mix BUT it needs processing to get good results on most voices. I EQ and do light de-essing on the way in. I recently purchased this Ozone 11 update and I'm very happy with the results thank you Sean for making these videos. What is the optimal True Peak setting for streaming ? Can you go below 1 ?
I’d aim for -1 TP in most cases. You can push it further but be very careful :)

Are you using it on each individual track or on the final master track???
Hey I was wondering how to about fixing a sample that starts to distort every time I turn the gain up within the master using a limiter.
Depends on the sample - you might need to EQ it differently to get more out of it or you could also use a limiter on the sample itself BEFORE limiting the master to keep things in check.
Great video! There's a crackly noise that's intentionally part of the rap song (I'm sure), but it sounds like clipping.

Very good video and great plugin. Can full mix and stem processing happen in the same ozone 11 instance at the same time? Lets say I first want to eq the vocals, then the drums, and finally the full mix, is this possible?

Question…how to do you utilize OZ11 in conjunction with your hardware? (the portico & ssl fusion) …
I use the Portico (it's the channel not the MBP) for input processing. The Fusion is usually on my stereo bus in Logic (I/O plugin), inserted before Ozone.

If I want to make adjustments to the vocal and drums separately with the stem process, then to the whole music, do I need to open 3 instance of Ozone plugin in the chain? This is not possible with one instance of Ozone plugin at the moment. What is the workflow?
Yes, you'd use three instances of Ozone to do this 👍

For whatever reason, I cannot figure out how to produce a Streaming Master...not sure why the input meter always says "9.5?" I mix to -6 peaks.
This tutorial is much better than the official iZotope channel videos. I wasn't going to bother with Ozone 11, but after seeing this, I see some value of it. I just have a problem with everybody calling the new versions "AI". It's a big turnoff to me.
Glad it was helpful! I agree that I'm not crazy on the idea of AI that claims to do all the work for you... especially in the creative space. IMO, this is very much facilitative AI - It saves a ton of time, eliminates technical guesswork but still empowers you creatively to make the final decisions. That kind of AI, I'm all for.

To use Clarity stem focus does it go on the master buss?
Yes. Ozone 11 Advanced also offers the Clarity module as an individual plugin to use throughout your mix.
Would you say the Master Assistent is way better than in ozone 10?
In my opinion, yes. The results have been closer to a finished master. The assistant dashboard is much faster and easier to dial in also.

Is Ozone good for making vocals, without any music, sound good? Like for voiceovers?
Yes, a lot of the modules work great for voiceover. I use the Maximizer and more recently now the Clarity module.

Definately ive just compared 9 10 and 11 this morning, huge difference to my ears especially the ai assistant it seems to do a much better job from the get go

You can only use one stem focus per Ozone 11 instance

they finally need some new limiters and soft clippers from waves in my oppinion, to reach a modern and decent master.
I like my masters done by a certified mastering engineer. Ozone is cool for my quick masters to test out my mixes before I send them out for official masters.

Only problem I hear is that it sounds like it’s “stereoizing” everything a lot. Is that what a final master should sound like instead of centered ?
The final master should have exciting width but still be "anchored" in the middle. It's a balance :)

Clone, no. Similar concept though. Clarity dynamically processes hundreds of bands. I do have the WF EQ - great plugin as well.

This stuff is getting krazy, Ozone 20 going to turn into a full Daw where you can add track audio and add midi tracks as well as remixing mixing all your tracks after you’re done with your first mix lol.
yeah, you're right, they're always trying to release new features, but for me personally the development is going a little too quickly. I'm still trying to come to terms with Ozone 10 and I've noticed that my masters sound better if I only use a part of the tools they suggest me, otherwise it is just be too much processing for my taste and I also like to combine it with stuff outside from ozone like a ssl bus compressor and a fabfilter pro l2 at the end of all.

I was thinking the same. Love Gullfoss and I trust Izotope engineers to recreate great tools.
This update is disappointing for me. I just upgraded to ozone 10 so having to pay another grade fee is annoying.

Nothing special about the plugin. There's no chance that it will fix your mixes or do anything fabulous about mastering. Izotope's target are the bedrooms producers that think that thier mixex will improve just by downloading Ozone. No it will not. 11? what's the improvement compared to 10 ...? And the thing that NI just took over Izotope. The company that can even make thier own downloading assistent to work. please. Guys, Gals. Don't get fooled, just focus on the process, there's plenty of good plugins and emulations out there. Consistency is the key, don't ever think that one plugin will fix all mix problems. Peace.
