When I had my G4 I took a lot of pictures and I loved that camera . Now I have a iPhone 5s and at that time when it was released it was a really good camera . Now I've realized it's not worth spending $600+ on a flagship for a camera . Sure the S7 has a good battery ,nice display but it's so damn expensive . While this phone is pretty much good everywhere besides the camera . You could probably just buy this phone and get a solid camera for the amount of money you saved .
I've had my OP3 since June, and I JUST now discovered the tap and hold locking feature of the camera... in November... through this video. I feel... scrubbish. Great video!

Wow man.....this is like the most comprehensive OP3 camera review i've seen. Great review. I just got the delivery on 7th and I'm really happy with the device. A few questions though, should I turn the Auto HDR mode "on" at all times or only when needed? And how did you get that smooth low light pic?
Great review. It sounds like the OP3 is being overly aggressive with noise cancelation in those audio clips - something that really only should be enabled during phonecalls or dictation. I'm certain a software update can fix this.
Excellent. Big thumbs up. Very thorough, properly analytical (in contrast to most smartphone viewers that in fact have no clue about photography), but to-the-point and not too tiring or boring to watch. This lack of lens focus lock while shooting video looks like a very annoying feature... I got a glimpse of refocusing in the video, and it looked bad. I wonder if they will fix it, or if the community will find a way around it, like they recently did with this phone's very aggressive memory management that kills lots of apps in the background to maintain battery life.
This review finally answered the questions I had about the camera of this phone. So we can sum it up as a very good camera but still not quite up there with the top flagships like S7 and G5

nice review there. I own lumia 950 and currently using OP3 now as a daily driver. I can say that the build and software of OP3 is very good considering the price. Once in a while, I just miss that superb camera of L950.

Another great video. Soon as I saw audio (video) sample, stopped video, lost all interest in phone due to noise cancellation issue/bug. Hopefully they can fix that with a software update.

Great review so far, leaving comments as I go so.... @2:44 ever try to boost the shadows or blacks or play with the tone curve instead of the overall exposure? you won't be touching the highlights, send me over a raw and I'll send you back a dng that has all the edits, I can show you what I mean, there's more to raw than pushing an exposure slider to raw after all :P Also under exposing a shot just a bit in daylight "meter to the right :P" and then raise the shadows gives much more increased DR. You gotta play with the shadow slider to really drive the point home :P What I'd like to see when changing settings on phones is a lil feedback when turning the dials, helps ya know? like a lil bump for every time you turn the dial. @6:34 Great shot of you at night ;) ;) but I'm not thrilled by the low light quality, so much grain and were all these shots at 1/17th? these issues can be fixed by of course...manual mode, I mean the G4 has a minimum automatic shutter speed of 1/9, so you wouldn't need to shoot so fast and raise that iso so high. Plzzzzzzzzzz do a comparison between manual settings say 1/2sec to what the camera puts out, just to maybe...drive the point home? who needs all that grain anyways heh. :P Not a bad low light mode though, good thing it doesn't reduce the mp of each shot to achieve it. @8:58 You'd expect they would include an AE and AF lock/timer of some sort, how hard is that? gosh...small issues like that leads to big disappointments *looks at LG* Not bad video, but they should again..give the user an option to change the bitrate...what's the point of having UHD video when it looks a blocky pie of pooh. But that "Never Settle" even that is questionable, since they kinda gave in and settled to be kinda like the rest...2.5D glass, unibody design, no sd card, no removable battery... there isn't much now that seperates them from the rest, aside of the price for what you get.
I really try to stick with what I can showcase simply. Throwing around S curve edits in lightroom just takes me a little further out of talking about the phone camera than I think I can go when these videos are already well over ten minutes long. I can VERY quickly show a meaningful recovery of a situation where someone overexposes, anything more than that feels like it should live in a separate video focused on editing technique. That low light performance was REALLY rough. I was expecting better, but I don't think this OIS has a huge range to reign in movement. And yeah the AE/AF lock is a HUGE pain in the ass when you're used to other phones that kinda take that functionality for granted. I'm really surprised more companies haven't tried to include more video control. Seems like we're walking backwards there from phones like the Lumias and V10.

Great review! Would you say that this camera is better, worse or the same as LG G4 camera? I am having a hard time deciding what phone of these two should I buy.
I prefer the G4 camera overall. Neither are great for video IMO, and the OP handles Slow motion better, but I LOVE the G4 app. Saturation is handled very well thanks to the color sensor, and the OIS helps a LOT more in low light than the OP3.

I would've recommended the Huawei P9 Plus if not for the stock OS, you could look into the Axon 7 at this point.

I thnk OP considers this a "feature" and not a "bug". OP owners will just have to remember to tap and hold or use another app.

It would be neat! but the question is, with which piece of software? Lightroom for desktop? mobile? snapseed? heh. I'd start off with snapseed since most people probably already have it, then maybe another vid with LR for desktop, cover the desktop version and you kinda get the mobile version covered. Can't hold their hands for everything right?

Great review! Would you say that this camera is better, worse or the same as LG G4 camera? I am having a hard time deciding what phone of these two should I buy.
I prefer the G4 camera overall. Neither are great for video IMO, and the OP handles Slow motion better, but I LOVE the G4 app. Saturation is handled very well thanks to the color sensor, and the OIS helps a LOT more in low light than the OP3.
What stylus is that?
Do you think 1080p 60fps video recording will come in a future software update?
