Thanks James. Talking to camera whilst having an extremely bright light in your face takes some doing without squinting. For 5 minutes after you can't see anything in dark 😂
Thanks, 30lbs Chinook must have put a bend in the rod. Well done catching and releasing. There's been a few Salmon caught on the River Dee this year (not by me though). Phil.
The bats were flying low to the water. That period of darkness up to midnight is magical. Just the wildlife going about their business. I’m going to fit some little glow lights to the floats next year / time. 👍
Thanks, at least I did get to see the Zander but looking back I should have used a bit less pressure as the Zander have quite boney mouths. Cracking Pike put a smile on my face.
Much appreciated. I'd had a Zander from that area last year. First time I done much filming in the dark and think I could do with using a brighter light.
Hard luck re zander Phil, but that pike was a great compensation! About now I start thinking about launching my pike flies into the local canal! This tempts me further now... Take care good luck 😊
Thanks, one thing I've not tried is catching Pike on flies. I must give it a go this winter. I have an old 9 weight rod which would likely be able to handle the loch Pike. I look forward to watching. your winter pike fly fishing videos.
I use an old reservoir lure rod rated 8/9 it's usually smaller Jack's so ultra beefy rods would dull the fight! That said I'm planning a few ribble pike fly sessions where there's a strong possibility of a big un😂 TBH pike fly doesn't seem to get great views on my channel ' utube seems to promote lure/deads more robustly. Good luck Phil 👍
I'm certainly minded to give the Pike on a Fly a go. The rod I have in mind is getting close to fifty years old, a Shakespeare Wonder Rod with an Intrepid Rimfly reel. Proper old school stuff.
Great night footage and a great pike, thanks for taking me on the trip with you Phil ❤
Any time! Always good to have you along. Next time you do one of your canal walks remember these big Pike are never far away. 😃
Well done Phil another good video in the dark, shame about losing the zander, but you made it better with the pike, nice one, Thank you,

Smashing pike Phil, shame about the Zander, that looked like a decent one that got away. Thanks for sharing
Thanks 👍. I'll be back again to have another go for the Zanders. I was given a few new locations from another Zander angler I met on the bank.
What a cracking size Pike!!
Thanks Steve, was a great fish but not my best, that was a Pike of 17 lbs many years ago. Phil
Good STUFF!!! CHEERS from HERE! p.s. I caught and released a 30 llb chinook salmon yesterday

Lovely pike Phil, unlucky on your lost zander 👍

Great video nice pike mate
Thanks, it wasn't what I set out for but it was a beauty. Great to see it swim away with a huge tail flick. Hopefully a Zander next time.
Lovely pike, looked a wee bit bigger! Good trip, shame about the lost runs. Enough action to make you think about a return trip?
Thanks, I’ll be going back again next year. I fished the same section last year and had a lovely Zander. It was s shame I lost one this time.
