Teacher’s pet
This was extremely helpful as someone who is just starting to song write and has never played drums before.
how is it going

Oh thank God I’m so terrible at writing MIDI drums
keep in mind that the drummer only has two hands, unless your drummer is Marco Minnemann
Drumers also using legs
Are you sure? Rick Allen isn’t sure.

thank you my drummer is passed out on the floor and we need to practice
😂😂
Dude, I love how you explained everything. Simple, really easy to understand, made me feel how fun it is (as opposed to being overwhelmed by information). Great video!
Thank you, Vladimir!
Ah, so this is the reason we dont get called to play on records anymore
Ruben Spoolder yeah I guess but real drummers will always sound superior to artificial drums that try to sound authentic
Bobby Willis fact
Dude, super concise, and all the information I could have needed. Thank you! I feel like I understand more about drums and programming than I did before! :)
Holy crap thank you. I've never been good at anything to do with drums. This has helped me A LOT.
This is so useful man, thank you. You and Joe r the greatest!
I have been needing this video. INCREDIBLY helpful thank you so much.
Thank you so much man, the breaking down (no pun intended) of the fills and different styles was great!
Not the video I was looking for but still very interesting. Thank you.
1:50 it's Billie Jean, not boring at all!
Not a drummer but this has opened new possibilities for me! Thanks so much man! Cheers from the Philippines!
One of the best and simplest explanations of half-time I've heard.
This helped SO much! Thanks buddy!
The way I do my midi drum tracks is I record multiple tracks in real-time. Example, I put the kick drum on one track and perform live using a keyboard. To help me keep the beat I would strike a key for the kick drum but since the snare hasn't been recorded yet I would thump on the table. I know it's weird but it's a lot faster than drawing midi notes, i just hate drawing midi notes. Anyway it's best to have separate track for drums, it's easier when mixing. After that, i quantize to check for errors
His instruction is very good. But unfortunately, my brain doesn't work that way. I can't keep up. I feel more comfortable following your procedures. I like how you thump the table. However it might sound to some it is a great tip for those who think more like you and me. Could you do a video showing your process. I seem to get it more for my ADHD learning processes
Depends on the person I suppose, but it's waaay faster literally clicking in the notes then actually performing them. Isn't that obvious? Also as sombody who has over 40 + tracks in a song having the drums confined to one track is much simpler than a separate track for each drum-piece. Mixing can always be done, but the composition remains more important.
That's exactly how I've considered doing it, except not quantizing it if I'm looking for a more human-sounding mix
This video is so helpful, thank you!!
Struggled with this for longer than I care to mention, was well on my way just minutes after viewing this!
You the Man!!
Very helpful, thanks! I'll check out the updated version.
You're inspiring me to think about drums in a different way.
This is really helpful... Awesome stuff!
Thank you! this will really help and improve on my music
Thank you so much, this will be so useful. Now i'll be able to spice up my drum beats!
pretty clean and understandable explanation you did there. You deserved a like from me bro! thank you for this video.
Thanks for dumbing this down for us non traditional drummers!
A lot of hip-hop is half time, it also makes it a lot easier to edit smaller areas of a song.
SO helpful and clear thank you!!
I've been trying to write beats with no drumming experience for the past year and a half. I learned more in 5 minutes than in 40 videos combined. Thank you so much for this video man! :)
You're very welcome!
Very helpful - need to track mock drums for my band until we get a drummer. Thank you!
You're welcome :)
Here’s a tip, most songs that have the best fills (imo) keep it very basic by playing around with the groove (the bass snare bit) like adding an extra snare or just a snare roll it doesn’t need to mental af, unless you’re doing punk or metal
Thank you for the video! It really helped me out!
Sooooooo helpful. You’re the man
Brilliant, great info. Proper helped us out. Tks👍
You're welcome! 💙
Thank you this helped so much!!!

Great video, thanks!
Good work! You deserved that blue👍
thnak you
i will use this knowledge to create the best music featuring the rwe theme
There are actually some new tips in there for me :D
actually the strong beat is 1, and you could say the 3 is "half" strong. So, to give strenght to the 2 and 4 they hit the snare
so helpful thank youuu
Thank you!!
Thou art mine saviore!
learned so much
Youre guiding me through my college course rn 😂😂 thank you

I love the video. Do you have anything in terms of how it's timed correctly?
thanks m8 that is exactly what i was searching for, should get more views tho great for beginners in beat producing
I would like to have lessons on playing the trumpet and the flute. Thank you

Very helpful. What VST library did you use for the drums?
Thanks
Helpful 👍🏽👌🏽
Thanks!
Hi what app/program are you using on this video? As a beginner i think its important to point out as well what program you use thank you
1:42 "so that sounds a little bit idk B O R I N G"
Michael Jackson: Are you messing with me buddy?
@Felix Joshik it's a reference to billie jean
great vid bro, but i'm still strugling to get that 16th kinda soul natural swing. Please, can you make a video about that??
Very usefull
what program is this? i need to make some drum beats. what other programs are out there that are free?
Actually, in Western music beats 1 and 3 are accented in 4/4 -time music. Beats 2 and 4 just feel accented because that's where the snare usually hits.
Hey! Thank you so much man, helped me a freakin LOT and btw im wondering how the program is called
This is Logic Pro X! Glad you liked the video :)
@@TheMusicLab thank you so much :D
Nice! Can you share the midi files with us ? Obviously not song ready but a fun starting point.
You should be able to recreate any of these beats within a minute! On any software!
Name of the program to create the beats?
What is the name of program tha he use in video?
What DAW are u using? Is there any good free software that u know of?
Logic X Pro! Garageband is decent! I haven't used any others to be able to comment on them!
MrRingo123 studio one prime is really good but doesn't have many plugins and you can't buy any until u upgrade the program but it has many instruments
Get Reaper, the trial never expires, it just shows you a 5 second splash box forever. It's got great compatibility so your VST, VST2, VST3, etc. will work. It's simpler than most DAW's and more powerful
Ableton Live is insanely cool & powerful. I'm not a musician, but love playing around - the lite version of Live is only $100 and well worth it. A free version also comes with several $100 midi keyboard/pad combos.
crack fl studio if u want I have a portable version of it.
What count do cymbal crashes go? I think its weird to think about it because its on the one?.. it twists the brain because its an ending sound on a start.. Id like to hear someone elses approch or solution..
LEYKIS 101!
What software do you use?
What software are you using?
1:12 except for when you're in Italy. They accent all the beats for unknown reasons.
1. hi hat fill
2. kick drum variation
3. half time 3:40
4. double time
Do i need to have a MIDI to do this type of things just wanting to spice up my covers
Well, "a MIDI" isn't a singular thing. There are digital instruments which are controlled either by a MIDI controller (such as an electric keyboard) or directly by your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). So in order to make a MIDI drum beat you would at least need the digital instrument, and possibly a MIDI controller depending on whether you wanted to play the part yourself or just draw it into the track. So if your question was "Do I need a MIDI controller" then the answer is: no, as long as you have a digital instrument and a DAW to put it in.
@@thomasmoore7013 Got it so i need this kind of software and also a hardware aswell ¿maybe my current ketboard?
Your current keyboard might work, but you can just draw it in with a mouse in any DAW (digital audio workstation)
I am a drummer but I can't record drums because of quality, so I need to use MIDI. I just can't find a good free Windows program
Nick's Good Universe you can maybe try using notation software like noteflight or musescore (which are both free). the samples might sound not great, but I guess that's better than nothing lol
Download Kontakt Player (free). Then download GGD Lite (free), and load it up in Kontakt
I use TuxGuitar from here; sourceforge.net/projects/tuxguitar/
Mk powerdrums arent bad
there's Hydrogen if you only want drums, else there's cakewalk by bandlab and LMMS
Creedence clearwater crying ay the start of this video 🥲
Could you please do a video like this but for hip-hop drums ? thanks x
It the exact same method! You just use different samples!
Use 808 samples, and put the kick just off the 3.
A link where I can access this with Ableton?
You should be able to create a midi track, of which you can set the instrument to be the midi drum kit, then create an event on the timeline, double click on it and you should be good to go!
you can have claps...I have the clap
Thesummerstriangle I love adding some clap claps
Hey folks, i have a question. I would really love to record covers of Sabaton songs. Is there any way to load ready drum tabs into any program? I will be greatful for answer.
No, you can however load ready made midi files if you can find a midi file for the drums!
@@TheMusicLab thanks for the answer. It is gonna be helpful :)
3:06 ppap :D
What programme do you use ?
Logic Pro X!
What drum program software are you using, brother? I want something like that where I can just mouse click where I want the next hit! I would _really_ appreciate an answer, thank you!!
Every single DAW will let you do that! It's called midi, and every DAW will let you 'draw midi'. The specific DAW I'm using is Logic Pro X, but you could use: Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Reaper etc
@@TheMusicLab I have Reaper, I know about midi and DAWS, my question was what drum software you are using?
Ah, I see! .. The drum software in this video is built into Logic, but for Reaper I use the free SSD5 drum sampler
@@TheMusicLab Awesome, thank you, brother! :-D
No worries!
bro may i know what software do you use for making drums like that?.. following you here...
waiting for your reply here,, thanx a lot
For this video I'm using Logic Pro X, something you can only get on Mac. However you can do this in any DAW, have a Google and see which one might be best for you :)
is the logicial free?
Are you gonna do any more Reviews episodes?
Yep! We've just taken a little break!
Yes I like it, your video, but I need your software to try and need to follow you up
ບ້ານລາວ ສະຕູດີໂອ idk if you still need a software or not but GarageBand for iOS or Mac is free and Reaper is free for Windows PCs. I recommend GarageBand
Anyone have a kit for this type of style? I’m a trap producer but I have a lot of people that play guitar and want rock sounding tranc like drums
SSD5 has a free rock drum kit! It sounds pretty good too!
I think when it comes to writing drum parts, it is my weak point. I can produce polyrhythms and repeatable complex grooves however, fills are something I have not done very often as I don't fully comprehend their utility in musical narrative. I struggle to ascertain what form the paintbrushes that are drum fills give to the overall painting of music.
I see drum fills as a use for transitions... If you want to go from one section to another you can use a fill to build to that change and really emphasize the new section arriving! ... That how I have always viewed them anyway
You are pretty confusing to listen to, not gonna lie, but your examples were good, so cheers mate! c:
Very informative video. Thank you very much :-)
