In regards to Christian works that have overlapping themes with Buddhist teachings, you may find interior castles by st. Theresa of Avila and Dark night of the Soul by Saint John of the Cross to be interesting.

Don’t worry - Buddhism is not a religion, there is no dogma to be believed. It is entirely based on your own realisation. Anyone can practice these teachings 🙏🏻

I've listened with 100% attention, with ears and heart, to this valuable teaching with reports of transformation in people, finding mindful breathing and understanding of suffering. I'm all of the time receiving a deeper understanding of what Buddha's presence on our planet means, and his message. I believe that in this time, amidst a pandemic with confusion, fear and uncertainty, even division, in tow, that Thay's teachings are priceless for those who have ears to hear and a heart to understand.
I've enjoyed the face of Thay when he shared the story of the family, finding harmony again, with reconciliation. Every time he speaks about a change, an improvement, of finding hope after despair, he shows the most beautiful content smile. There's not many people like Thay, showing such a level of embodiment, of understanding and compassion. And walk his talk, by simply breathing in and out, present in the moment, observing what's inside and out. There's a precious beauty, in how the laws of life join the grace of spirit.
To me, it's a realm where words are absent, in a silence that speaks 1000 words in no time, 360 degrees. All held inside the 💗🙏🌹

i don't blame you for your comment, indeed it is not easy. In some cases too much harm has been done that even a full repent from the other person (unlikely) will not make the balance of decades maybe entire childhood of suffering back to positive. It helps to think of people who have suffered worse, maybe torture of political prisoners. Some survived and though they know nothing will heal them they still forgive their torturer and i don't understand how or why but they do. It probably has to do with self survival, not mercy because we are like a vessel if we feel it with hate for someone else we are carrying that inside us and we continue to be harmed by it. So there is no choice but to live in love of everyone including those that do not deserve it. Thay said compassion is the best shield against those that don't deserve our mercy. Let's be honest i cannot see how to implement that, but i trust Thay must be right on that.

Conventionally people say monks don't add anything to society. Oh if only they knew. That mindfulness helps millions around the world get back up. Even in mental hospitals. So all those monks throughout the ages have contributed. By studying it and practicing it. It's given people regardless of which or lack of faith. A tool to be with their pain. Oh I would say they have added maybe the greatest gift mentally and spiritually that anyone has ever given us.
