it was a 10 days caurse of practice in group but everyone are commited not to speak with anybody and no mobile phone .look for meditatation school of Dr. Goenka if there i s one in your country.in Thailand there are many.
+Yanyong W. Congratulations sir or ma'am. From someone who suffers from social phobia and depression it brings me some hope to hear that someone else who was suicidal found it within themselves to heal (in some way). Thank You.
meditatation does not belong to certain religion.the point is focusing your mind on th present moment.not past nor future.knowing that suffering comes from your thought.then you are able to control it.
Me too. I still remember the first time I seen them in a video, it was the daffodil ceremony and I had never seen a people that were so beautiful before. Just to see them is overwhelming and makes tears arise, So so beautiful. We have been given a great gift for our time. We were lucky enough that in our life we were graced by the Maitreya Buddha, that has birthed and entire Maitreya sangha of Buddhas. Could there be anything more beautiful? It is said that the Maitreya would be the Buddha of compassion. When I see Thays beautiful children of the dharma I can see Thay there, and I can see that they are not separate persons, I can see that the Maitreya is reborn into them as well. How could tears of joy not flow when you see something so precious. Something of the highest value in all the universe. The Dharmas for awakening and the end of suffering. Homage to the Blessed ones who have gone forth from the home life to homelessness for the sake of the liberation of all beings. I learn about mindfulness many years back from Thich Nhat Hanh book on Mindfulness. I also read the Bible especially the Book of Psalms. I believe in the Doctrine of Nestorianism which was established by Tang Dynasty in China, which depict the Cross on the Lotus Flower. I like Thich Nhat Hanh exposition on the Flower and the Truth of the existence of God and His Creation. In the Chinese Language, Flower is one which give birth to a Fruit which resemble that of a Woman whom God has created to give birth to a New Human Being. The Art to appreciate Flowers is also the Art to admire Women which is basis of Love between Man and Woman and the continuation of The Human Race. May God bless Thich Nhat Hanh and his enlightenment on Mindfulness.
Thank you Thay, you are beautiful, and we love you. Thank you for healing my life. The Love of the world-wide sangha is with you in this moment, and always.

Once that initial moment of transformation takes place The overwhelming rush of happiness that comes can bring so much relief from the strong emotions that have accumulated But with the mindfulness practice, consistently, we can manifest the happiness that's always available. It is a much more powerful feeling than whatever the feeling is that may be holding one back from seeing life with clear eyes and being a true source of light Thanks to Thay, and many other great practitioners, we all have the availability to learn together because we are all truly connected, even more then ever ❤ 😀

The Five Mindfulness Trainings"The Five Mindfulness Trainings represent the Buddhist vision for a global spirituality and ethic. They are a concrete expression of the Buddha’s teachings on the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path, the path of right understanding and true love, leading to healing, transformation, and happiness for ourselves and for the world. To practice the Five Mindfulness Trainings is to cultivate the insight of interbeing, or Right View, which can remove all discrimination, intolerance, anger, fear, and despair. If we live according to the Five Mindfulness Trainings, we are already on the path of a bodhisattva. Knowing we are on that path, we are not lost in confusion about our life in the present or in fears about the future."♡ Thích Nhất Hạnh
Thich Nhath hanh always talks about being caring toward the inner child and toward thoughts and emotions. Eckhart tolle wants to let all egoic structures die. I still do not quite get this paradox. How can you care for something that you want to neglect?
These are two different approaches for aligning with a state of consciousness that is more expanded than our normal day to day ego. In this larger consciousness, compassion is a natural occurrence. Thich Nhat Hanh has us practicing compassion as a way to align with our natural state. I understand it, but I too do not support this idea of letting ego die. I do not see the ego as bad. I believe the point is to let our attachments to way in which our ego may be confused, limited or contracted go so that we can strengthen our center of narrative gravity into our True Nature which is free of these aquired limitations, confusions, and conditionings. Our ego does not die. Our awareness simply expands to include our Whole Self along with the wisdoms and wholesome virtues our contracted state of ego was not able to previously see or be aware of. May we all be free of the limited ideas and beliefs of ego and align with our True Nature the wholesome virtues of loving-kindness and compassion. 🙏💕
5. Nourishment and Healing"Aware of the suffering caused by unmindful consumption, I am committed to cultivating good health, both physical and mental, for myself, my family, and my society by practicing mindful eating, drinking, and consuming. I will practice looking deeply into how I consume the Four Kinds of Nutriments, namely edible foods, sense impressions, volition, and consciousness. I am determined not to gamble, or to use alcohol, drugs, or any other products which contain toxins, such as certain websites, electronic games, TV programs, films, magazines, books, and conversations. I will practice coming back to the present moment to be in touch with the refreshing, healing and nourishing elements in me and around me, not letting regrets and sorrow drag me back into the past nor letting anxieties, fear, or craving pull me out of the present moment. I am determined not to try to cover up loneliness, anxiety, or other suffering by losing myself in consumption. I will contemplate interbeing and consume in a way that preserves peace, joy, and well-being in my body and consciousness, and in the collective body and consciousness of my family, my society and the Earth."♡ Thích Nhất Hạnh
1. Reverence For Life"Aware of the suffering caused by the destruction of life, I am committed to cultivating the insight of interbeing and compassion and learning ways to protect the lives of people, animals, plants, and minerals. I am determined not to kill, not to let others kill, and not to support any act of killing in the world, in my thinking, or in my way of life. Seeing that harmful actions arise from anger, fear, greed, and intolerance, which in turn come from dualistic and discriminative thinking, I will cultivate openness, non-discrimination, and non-attachment to views in order to transform violence, fanaticism, and dogmatism in myself and in the world."♡ Thích Nhất Hạnh

From washing the dishes to answering the phone to peeling an orange, he reminds us that each moment holds within it an opportunity to work toward greater self-understanding and peacefulness." ~ Amazon.com READ MORE REVIEWS ABOUT THIS BOOK HERE: www.amazon.com/gp/product/0553351397?ie=UTF8&tag=globa0f5-20&camp=1789&linkCode=xm2&creativeASIN=0553351397
4. Loving Speech and Deep Listening"Aware of the suffering caused by unmindful speech and the inability to listen to others, I am committed to cultivating loving speech and compassionate listening in order to relieve suffering and to promote reconciliation and peace in myself and among other people, ethnic and religious groups, and nations. Knowing that words can create happiness or suffering, I am committed to speaking truthfully using words that inspire confidence, joy, and hope. When anger is manifesting in me, I am determined not to speak. I will practice mindful breathing and walking in order to recognize and to look deeply into my anger. I know that the roots of anger can be found in my wrong perceptions and lack of understanding of the suffering in myself and in the other person. I will speak and listen in a way that can help myself and the other person to transform suffering and see the way out of difficult situations. I am determined not to spread news that I do not know to be certain and not to utter words that can cause division or discord. I will practice Right Diligence to nourish my capacity for understanding, love, joy, and inclusiveness, and gradually transform anger, violence, and fear that lie deep in my consciousness."♡ Thích Nhất Hạnh
2. True Happiness"Aware of the suffering caused by exploitation, social injustice, stealing, and oppression, I am committed to practicing generosity in my thinking, speaking, and acting. I am determined not to steal and not to possess anything that should belong to others; and I will share my time, energy, and material resources with those who are in need. I will practice looking deeply to see that the happiness and suffering of others are not separate from my own happiness and suffering; that true happiness is not possible without understanding and compassion; and that running after wealth, fame, power and sensual pleasures can bring much suffering and despair. I am aware that happiness depends on my mental attitude and not on external conditions, and that I can live happily in the present moment simply by remembering that I already have more than enough conditions to be happy. I am committed to practicing Right Livelihood so that I can help reduce the suffering of living beings on Earth and reverse the process of global warming."♡ Thích Nhất Hạnh
3. True Love"Aware of the suffering caused by sexual misconduct, I am committed to cultivating responsibility and learning ways to protect the safety and integrity of individuals, couples, families, and society. Knowing that sexual desire is not love, and that sexual activity motivated by craving always harms myself as well as others, I am determined not to engage in sexual relations without true love and a deep, long-term commitment made known to my family and friends. I will do everything in my power to protect children from sexual abuse and to prevent couples and families from being broken by sexual misconduct. Seeing that body and mind are one, I am committed to learning appropriate ways to take care of my sexual energy and cultivating loving kindness, compassion, joy and inclusiveness - which are the four basic elements of true love - for my greater happiness and the greater happiness of others. Practicing true love, we know that we will continue beautifully into the future."♡ Thích Nhất Hạnh

The same way poor people put breathing into practice. We prepare the mind to be mindful in order to best see the possibilities here or here after. I work with people disenfranchised because of poverty, mental illness and other forms of resource poverty. This practice helps and feeds the mind even before the poverty is addressed and helps us all be mindful and find the resources to meet the needs of the poor -- just as breathing improves mental and physical possibilities.
It seems to me that if you are in poverty you can suffer quite a bit. I spent a better part of my life in poverty. I think that when I was in the worst times of poverty is when I practiced the most. If you are in suffering and you are ready to be done with suffering and you want to heal it then that is the driving force the end of suffering. The more you are suffering the more you will practice. It is different for all of us that driving force. Some just see suffering in others and want to end suffering for everyone. You do not need money in order to breathe, weather you have millions or zero the body will still breathe on its own. If you can still breathe, then you can practice. You just begin to practice in the small moments when you have time. Soon it will condition you to the practice and it will happen naturally even while working hard. The practice itself is the dharma. So when you practice you are actualizing the dharma. It is like your practice is awakening itself. It becomes enlightenment when we realize that. Well at least a glimpse of enlightenment. There is no person alive in whom the dharma is not for. The dharma is here for us all equally. To be a human or any kind of living being you will suffer. The dharma is the practice for the end of suffering. That is why the Buddha practiced so deeply, he was looking for the way to end the suffering for all beings. The Buddha was not in poverty, He was wealthy and was set to rule his kingdom. But he went into poverty on purpose, he walked away from the silk robes and jewels, and sat under trees did walking meditation by the banks of rivers. Did walking meditation day and night, he tried awakening through not eating, trying to give up everything. He tried to end craving by not indulging at all. But none of that worked. Then one day he seen it clearly it is the middle path. The middle path is to not get caught in either side. To watch it like clouds in the sky. In the end it was not about starving and not indulging it was enough to see what craving really was and to not be caught by it. That was the awakening. It is the same for suffering. I think there are as many answers as there are human beings. Because there are no two of us exactly alike. It all depends on your conditioning. It will be based on each moment of your life that has imprinted and energy upon you and transformed your stream of life into the you that you are today. I think if you are a well to do person you might think how lucky it is to be poor, and not have all of these huge serious worries to take care of then I would have more time to practice better. And, if you are poor you may think if only I had money then I wouldn't have all of these worries then I could practice better. No matter what side of the coin you find yourself on there is the one common theme that all of us share. Suffering, and the need to run, to never be done always just one more thing to do, one more thing to take care of. It is like a dog chasing his tail round and round. So too we also never stop chasing in the stream of our mind. It is much like the Salmon spawning season. They don't know how they know it but they are living in the big ocean of life and just trying to find their way back home. Our mind carries us forward like a stream it is a very powerful strong energy. But we have the ability to stop, and just look. To be a human is a lot like being in a boat and if we don't know how to handle our minds it can toss us around like a toy ship in large waves. But there are those few who are captains of the ship, they know how to navigate and can find safe harbors.
Stacy James Fry That's a good question! What shifted my understanding of suffering was the book 'Mans search for meaning' by Viktor Frankl, how do people retain hope in the worst human conditions possible? eg. Auschwitz? This book opened my eyes and changed my thinking!
"The flower belonges to the Kingdom of God." Yes it is. But this is not the school of thought in Christianity especially the Catholicism. In the non mystic christian tradition the Kingdom of God is only for men. The Katechism says: No soul in a plant, in an animal there is only a so called sensitive soul, dying with the death of that animal. For sure that is stupid. One can have a much deeper insight on the christian path if you listen to Thich Nath Hanh's teaching of these things.

Once that initial moment of transformation takes place
The overwhelming rush of happiness that comes can bring so much relief from the strong emotions that have accumulated

Global Well-Being. Very well put.

He is a great teacher and speaker but God, why are there so many people that cough during his speaking!?
How do people who suffer from Poverty put this into practice? Seems to me it's an impossibility

"The flower belonges to the Kingdom of God."
Yes it is.
I tried to kill myself as a young person jumped out of a moving car cause I couldn’t handle my emmotion
