- This is PT.4 of my reaction marathon to NCT units. In this video I reacted to WayV’s MV for take off, love talk, turn back time, kick back✨ My liking always changes while I edit these reaction videos.... lol and now I just cannot get over take off and turn back time! After reacting to all the units, I'm having hard time picking my favorite as I did not expect all these songs to be such a good songs!! 😂💜

wayv has to be the sexiest unit and they usually get the dark/mysterious concepts. All 7 members are of Chinese descent so they’re ethnically all Chinese however only 3 (kun, winwin and xiaojun) are from mainland China. Ten was born and raised in Thailand, Lucas is from Hong Kong and, hendery is from Macau and yangyang was born in Taiwan and studied and lived in Germany for a few years
also to add, love talk was actually a b-side from the album moonwalk was a title track of, it just got a MV for its English version and is known to be one of NCT’s thot anthems lmao

To add to this comment Ten is 2nd or 3rd generation Tai. That means his ancestors from generations back were Chinese by blood, moved to Thailand. He is the descendant of Thai and Chinese great parents but his Nationality is Thai. But ethnicity is probably a mix since his great grandmother is Chinese and Great grandfather is Tai. His whole family would have learned Thai as their mother tongue. So it wasn’t like his parents are from China, moved to Thailand and he was born there, that lineage goes back a few generations. His ancestry may trace back to China but he proudly introduces himself as Thai. Even in Chinese shows he says he’s Thai. He didn’t really speak Mandarin prior to being placed in WayV.
Also YangYang was born and raised in Taiwan, but moved to Düsseldorf, Germany with his family at the age of 11. His Nationality is Taiwanese but ethnicity is probably Chinese, it's hard to know for sure. But Because he grew up in Germany the school he attended taught him German, and English along with him taking Spanish. He was raised speaking Taiwanese but I believe he also didn't know Mandarin before being placed in WayV.
Just some more info on these two members in particular since they did not grow up in China. Also Lucas Hendery and Xiaojun all speak Cantonese to each other when it's just the three of them. But all of wayv mixes languages when speaking together sometimes using Chinese, Korean and English in the same sentence.
'Mature Unit' everyone will agree with you. WayV's have sexy vibes in all of their song specially when their perform... U need to react their live performance 'Nectar'

WayV is my ult bias unit from Nct. I love them all unconditionally and stan for ot23 but WayV everytime pulls me so into them.Like I'm thankful to SM they introduced WayV to the world n hope do appreciate them alot too coz they deserves it

My favorite unit! 💕 There’s something in WayV’s music that just hit different. It’s just sad that they are under appreciated. They have a lot of potential globally if only Label V/SM is promoting them properly.

8:31 and 15:33 that’s Kun, he’s the leader of WayV, the older in the group and the 5th in NCT as a whole. He’s pretty amazing, if you watch a good guide of WayV you’ll be impressed, there’s nothing he can’t do
I found WayV first and loved them. Once I learned about them and NCT I explored all the units and fell in love with them. It’s been a great exploration. Glad you seemed to enjoy it as much as I did.

The only word that I can use to describe WAYV's concept would be, FUTURISTIC. There's even a theory that I've read online that NCT 127 is the Present, NCT Dream is the Past and WAYV is the Future. WAYV has the most unique and eccentric sound in all NCT units that's why I used the word FUTURISTIC to describe their concept.

That's a really interesting thought! If I may use your comment to talk about mine, I would say that NCT 127 is the Past, NCT Dream Present, and WayV future..... Or switch NCT Dream and WayV. It's just a feeling hahaaha
Oh my gosh. This makes much more sense now that 7Dream has been coming out with the "throwback" stuff like the hippie themes from Hello Future and the early 2000s references with Glitch Mode!

For some reason it makes me sad that people never suggest Let me love U when they recommend WayV songs/MVs🥺I know it isn’t like their other tracks and I’m not usually into the cute stuff; but the self-made video is just THE MOST adorable thing I’ve ever seen and I love seeing them together like that… the behind the scenes video that goes with it is equally entertaining😬

Thanks for this NCT journey! Hope you expand this to a Pt 5 for the songs NCT do when all the units come together! They have 4! “Switch” (2016), “NCT 2018 Black On Black”, “NCT 2020 Resonance”, and “NCT 2021 Beautiful”. Also, don’t feel the need to try to find a favorite unit lol you really don’t have too. NCT is one group with 4 units and they’re all so different and important to the group that picking a favorite is hard and not necessary when you can just enjoy them all equally :) also everyone in WayV is Chinese except Ten who is Thai. NCT have all the bases covered for music genres, but to break down the sounds the unit have a bit: 127 is more experimental, hip hop and electronic, Dream is more pop and r&b, WayV is more r&b with some rock and electronic elements at times. But they all do it all

Ethnically Ten is Chinese, just his Nationality is Thai. So all are technically of Chinese descent, just a few of the members break down further into distinct regions and countries.
@@zr4664 yeah i meant nationality wise, but also i’ve heard that a large amount of thai people are ethnically chinese, but still consider themselves thai culturally anyway and i’ve never heard what ten’s thoughts on that are so i still just say he’s thai bc it doesn’t seem all that important to clarify yet

Things worth knowing about nct:
It means Neo Culture Technology, and as the name gives a hint, all is very NEO... so they are very out of the curve with their sound. So title tracks are usually very energetic, powerful and experimental but they do everything and anything with their b-sides, from r&b, to jazz, to eletronic, to jaw droping ballads to whatever SM wants because they can deliver anything. They have an insane Range of talents.
If I can recomend more songs to prove my point that would be:
Nct 127: Lemonade (feels like what nct wanted to say to their antis, so good, has a track video with a short version of the song)
NCT dream: Dreaming (grown up Dreamies, kinda House(?) Tipe of song, also has a track video with a short cersion of the song)
WayV: Miracle (viiiiiiiiiiibe, also has a track video with the short version of the song)
NCT U: Good Night (one of jaw droping ballad of nct) or Sweet Dream (r&b vocal line, has a live performance on yt)
All of these songs are from this year alone and the last three are from the same album: NCT 2021 Universe album.

From what I understand, SM introduced KWANGYA through aespa, so they could unite all the separate worlds/concepts of their other artists into one cultural universe. aespa with their AI’s, NCT with their Dream concept where they meet through their dreams (a lot of NCT/WayV title tracks are concept related) EXO and their powers/exoplanet, etc.
NCT (including WayV) are included in the Kwangya concept, but NCT specifically is based on dreams and tech, so the videos are usually dream-like. WayV has more story in their videos than the other units

WayV often does these mature concepts 👀, and Xiaojun always comes in and just hits those notes like there’s no tomorrow, he’s probably one of my favourite kpop vocals of all time

WayV is most definitely my favorite unit. I love to hear songs in the Mandarin language, which to me is so beautiful to listen to. And Ten is here, and you've seen him in so many NCTU videos. I really can't pick a favorite. Xiaojun has an angelic voice, and Kun too, and I love Hendery's raps and his and YangYang's general hilarity. The two of them are so funny in various videos. WinWin is adorable and so talented, and Lucas (I miss you, Lucas!) is great too. Definitely my favorite unit, but I love all of NCT.
Mandarin is the one of the only tonal languages in Asia & the only one in East Asia, tonal language means a slight pitch difference is a totally different word & meaning, because you hear less differences in phrases, it sounds a lot smoother to the ear than Korean & most other languages
You still have a lot of music to discover from NCT boys lol. This marathon was just a peak of the mountain lol.
Let me say that most of the NCT's b sides could be title tracks, that's how good they are. And NCT's ballads and slower songs are the top tier in whole kpop!
NCT U, 127 and WayV do have a lot of r&b style songs in their b sides.
And the beautiful man is Winwin.
He was also in 127 from 2016 (their debute) to 2018 (WayV's debute).

Action Figure is one of my favorites. You must see it! They did a performance video in suits and I love it. Of course, they're sexy, but the vocals in Action Figure are amazing! Their harmonies are incredible. You won't regret watching it.
Love talk is very R&B but nct 127 has a lot of b-sides with the same feel. WayV is my favorite subunit

In Take Off they have the Rock dance break which is also in Moonwalk and Turn Back Time.
Kick Back doesn't have it but in turn the chorus has a sound similar to Moonwalk and Turn Back Time.

WayV is the most favorite group from NCT. I recommend you to see the dance practice and you’ll know that’s why they called WayV (wavy) and you can see the different style from 3 unit more obviously.
Most mature definitely; less clothing jaja I love me some Wavy. Honestly you can't go wrong with biasing one unit over the others. They all have a different charm. Ultimately NCT in general have different sounds in each unit/comeback and everyone has different taste. So you can choose a favorite out of the four. Anyways having the other three is still a blessing or you can just save yourself from a heartache and love them all equally. They've also said theirs going to be a new unit this year so might want to wait in your choice lol

I love how calm he was while he was watching love talk i mean i can't maintain that poker face everytime i hear that song. (by the way love talk is just their b-side track not a title track that's why you think it's different) i love how you appreciate turn back time's pre chorus because turn back tine is my faverite among all the title tracks of wayv because of the melody of the pre chorus, chorus, lucas 2nd verse, and bridge. You know what you made me smile because even tho it's just your first time reactiong to wayv you mention that it might be your favorite unit 😭 irl, some of nctzens doesn't appreciate wayv as much as they appreciate the other two sub-unit. SAME. My first WayV MV was Turn Back Time… I think I just stumbled on it last fall when it was pretty new and I was just starting to get into kpop… it totally blew me away… THEN I watched the dance practice and couldn’t take my eyes off of Ten and I was completely HOOKED.

WayV are part of NCT and with that they're of course part of the SMCU! The faculty they're in in Turn Back Time is actually in Kwangya. And the members can turn back time and they used that to escape because they were all experimented on and tortured. (In Kick Back they of course also sing about it and you can see them reversing time)

what leaves me most speechless about wayv apart from the big artistic talent of all of them, is that they are all visual on top

I i feel i can understand u really well for liking the pre choruses and the bridges the most, for me i feel like that's an sm thing they make the best pre chorus/bridges in the kpop! And i think because of the vocals so when they slowed it down it just sounds great because we can hear their singing clearly

every sm artist is part of kwangya so yes nct as well. but 1. kwangya started being a big thing after most of nct's music was released and 2. nct's lore (yes they have some lore) is not much in their mvs and more in extra videos like some teasers and their nctmentaries etc. the key point of nct's concept is that the members are all connected through dreams and can meet through them

I also think you should react to the NCT units coming together. 2016: Switch, 2018: Black on Black, 2020: Resonance, 2021: Beautiful! You won't regret it and if you're still interested you should do a marathon to all Unit's MVs chronologically! Then dive to their albums as well since it's worth it, you won't get bored with NCT! KWANGYA intertwines to all of NCT. Their concept links with aespa and EXO the most, but they all ultimately link to KWANGYA in SM. In the Universe album (NCT's most recent album) their lyrics link to KWANGYA and they also released an NCT U x aespa song with some members from NCT and Giselle from aespa. The song is called Zoo if you want to check it out!

Idk if someone already explain the narrative universe, but here is my take (because is pretty much theory, there're few confirmed things): NCT and WayV have a narrative concept integrated since their debut, but because of the tension between China and South Korea (2016 to 2020, i can explain that too), WayV had to debut in a sub label of SM (Label V) and be like a stand alone group, or they couldn't peomote in China. That's why they didn't mix in official NCT content until last year. So. The concept. WayV are time travelers (developed alone until 2020) so they already know what's happening with kwangya, the red force, and NCT; and now (since they're officially part of SM korean promotions too) they're trying to reach the rest of NCT to take them out and free them of the Dream Lab and then go to Kosmo, which apparently is the ultimate place for the SM universe.

I’d say it’s considered both C-POP and K-POP, as the styling is very kpop like. However it is in Chinese so Y’know. BUT YEAH, since they’re part of NCT I’d say it’s KPOP pretty much, but diverse to Chinese marketing. It has both pros on side.

WayV is the chinese sub-unit, but not all of them are chinese. They all have chinese descent, but only Kun and Winwin are from mainly China, I'm gonna explain better later.
As a group, WayV has been known by the amazing looks, and the impeccable performances.
They are really good at dance (NCT at all) and they have this particular and unique style that is different from the rest of NCT
I totally agree with you when you said that they look more mature. WayV has that sexy, mysterious kind of image who give us that mature thing on them.
They had one of the bestest main vocalists of NCT (Xiaojun) and one of the bestest main dancer (Ten) as well.
They like a lot that rock/pop/hiphop style, and all off their brigdes and dance breaks that they do in almost every main song are incredible.
They also known skillful in everything, and being chaotic af.
Talking about members, just a easy go, if u wanna know more you should react to some guide.
The first one is the oldest and the leader of WayV, Kun.
He's a incredible vocalist and a even amazing producer. He's Chinese, and he's known for been very kind and talented. That man can do everything, even fly a plane, and that's not a joke.
He can speak Chinese and Korean fluently.
The second one is Ten, he's the second oldest and the main dancer, and also a amazing vocalist and performer.
Ten is from Thailand, but he can speak Thai, Korean, Chinese and English (I think that is more, but I can't remember know).
He's one of the bestest dancers that we have in NCT and I risk to say in kpop as well. He's truly appreciate by his dance skills.
The third one is WinWin.
I'm not pretty sure about his position in the group cause from my point of view he's good at singing, rapping and dancing.
He's a old Chinese martial arts student, and his know from his flexibility and how smooth and light his moves are. He's a incredible dancer as well.
He's cinhese, and can speak Korean and Chinese fluently, but if I'm not mistaken he can speak a little of japonese too.
The forth one is Lucas.
Lucas is from Hong Kong, he's a rapper and dancer in the group.
He's really hot and have a amazing and cute personality that makes people fall for him.
He's really popular among social medias because of his incredible looks.
He can speak Chinese, Korean and Cantonese fluently, and a little bit of Thai.
The fifth one is Hendery!
He's also a rapper and dancer, incredibly talented, and I think he's really good at singing too.
People call him Prince-like, and his know for his amazing looks, besides his bright and energetic personality. And he's from Macau.
He can speak Chinese, Korean and Cantonese fluently, and little bit of English (I think he has a British accent, and I really like it).
The sixth is Xiaojun!
He's the main vocalist of WayV, and one of the main vocalists of NCT.
He's know for he's angelical and powerful voice, he has a really beautiful tone, that makes people really into his singing.
He's from Hong Kong too, and can speak Korean, Chinese and Cantonese fluently.
The last one is the youngest as well, YangYang.
He's a amazing rapper and a really good dancer too.
He's know for having a really cute personality, for being a walking Google translater, and being the definition of a gen z.
He's chinese, but he grew up and studied in Germany for a long time.
He can speak Chinese, Korean, English and Germany fluently, and a little of Spanish and Japanese as well.
IMPORTANT THING:
They are all main visuals.
Even the not fluent ones has a little bit of English skills.
The group at all, can speak like seven or more languages. And because of that people say that they are 'Very Global'
I feel like they still underated, they are really talented and I think they deserve way more than what they have know.
In the beginning, just Kun, WinWin, Ten and Lucas was officially part of NCT. Xiaojun, Hendery and YangYang just debuted officially part of NCT in the NCT2020 "Resonate" era.
Lucas and Winwin was part of NCT 127 as well, u can see them in their older MVS. But not more in the lately ones.
They debut with the chine version of the song "Regular" by NCT 127.

All units of NCT have many b-side track as same as Love Talk genre.
