"At number 9, we have one of the biggest mistakes Wizards had ever made." lol I laughed so hard when you said that because you were going so serious and then you hit the infamous skullclamp lol love it.
I played Sword of Body and Mind once. My board was enormous a couple of turns later. Card and board advantage made easy with Proliferate, spamming tokens of everything and spreading +1s across the board.
Fun Fact: Loxodon Warhammer is the only card printed with the pre-keyword version of Lifelink that ever got errataed to have the keyword. So when Lifelink was changed to a static ability, it got updated, but none of the other old Lifelink-ish cards did.
It depends on what you mean by "work," I'm up front that my top 10 is based on what cards were played the most at the premiere level -- it certainly works for determining that. It isn't the first time a card got banned because it was too good so it didn't get higher up the list -- it also gives me the opportunity to talk about bans and the history of the card if I use my method.
Razor Boomerang is probably like the 5th or 6th worst card ever printed...so if you could actually manage to win with it in a tournament, it would make you the best player ever.
Razor Boomerang IS an instant win with Gilded Lotus, Sol Ring, a creature, and Paradox Engine... it's just, if you have that much, you can instantly win with a shitload of other things if you have that on the field.
I like to run an equipment deck based on running my opponent into the ground with incessant untaps to block and attack whenever, so I love the Vulshock Gauntlets.
Master, not enough to be on the list. Its not a horrible cards: good if your deck is built to bring back creatures from the yard. The other swords; feast and famine, fire and ice , do a lot of work regardless of the build , if you got a creature its doin something good. I really like body and mind because it take 10 cards, and gives you a 2/2 body. Great in limited considering its 4 swings and they are done for.
If you have the cards needed to rack up life while claiming your opponents' or really need to keep something out of grave, perhaps. Otherwise, nah. Shame, gotta love that Kaladesh special foil.
Simple. Legendary rule. Sealing your opponent's favourite creatures from play is powerful, +3/+3 is one hell of a boost and adding 2 to devotion… is great. I play it all the time myself.
Nice list! I agree with a lot of other commenters that based on power level alone, Skullclamp should have taken the top spot. Also, much to the chagrin of those of us playing in Kamigawa-legal Standards, Umezawa's Jitte was never banned.
Umezawa’s Jitte also has the advantage of not needing to deal damage to the player. And the counters are attached to the jitte not the creature, so you can just throw something with this at any opponent and charge it up… guaranteed.
There is a Skullclamp in 2020 core, the words have been changed to "Whenever equipped creature dies, draw 2 cards" instead of "is put into graveyard". What difference does that make?
Very interesting video! Just some questions about the swords: shouldn't the score for Sword of War and Peace be 31? And what is the time frame for Body and Mind? Thanks for putting so much work into this and the other videos you make.
hey there I see amino. I'm the head curator. welcome to any new members that come due to this video. and also thanks for you being part of our community
I'd love to see how new cards like the MH swords, Embercleave, Shadowspear, Blackblade Regorded and the like are holding up to the classics. Likely can't keep up, but the lower spots might have changed in the past 3 years.
I like blackblade reforged, x/x where x is the amount of land you control. Costs 3 to equip to legendary and 7 for normal. When i only use it on legendaries it gets pretty op haha
Nizzahon Magic I'd disagree, Body and Mind is pretty lackluster in commander, War and Peace is ok. Fire and Ice is ok because the card draw (the shock is rarely relevant). Light and shadow can get you a lot of value through the return. And feast and famine is beast. However, putting a batterskull on your commander is a quick way to clock your opponent down
Nizzahon Magic the reason I was thinking batterskull was because it can be hard to deal with since my play group likes to punish creatures through spot and mass removal. I do have war and peace in my equipment voltron deck though and it's the masterpiece as well. So pretty. If I was going to get a second sword though it would be feast and famine... I do already use cranial plating too, since my general is Alesha which makes it a odd build already but that's what makes it fun and good.
@@NizzahonMagic Im pretty sure in modern it wouldnt do anything if it got unbanned. And i don't think in standard or historic it would really do anything. I just dont see magic being a game where equipment where you have to pay for the attaching does anything anymore.
It's been 3 years since this video was created. I wonder what the list would like today.

I own all of the cards in Cranial Plating's cycle EXCEPT it, which pisses me off to no end. I love the Nim look of the card, and I want id to finish that collection and for my artifact deck.
+Y2KNW Skullclamp is only fun to play if youre the one playing it. Even for EDH it is kind of a ridiculous card. If you are playing against it, it isn't fun.
7:50 "I 'SWORD' of cheated" anybody....?
Ba bum tsee!
"At number 9, we have one of the biggest mistakes Wizards had ever made." lol I laughed so hard when you said that because you were going so serious and then you hit the infamous skullclamp lol love it.
Yeah, Skullclamp is always interesting to talk about.
What're you talking about the -1 toughness is totally a downside
@@skirk248 the -1 is what made it so broken
@@kurtsloop2462 that's the joke
@@skirk248 okay....I thought you were serious.
I was impressed by the fact there's no Lighting Greaves here!
Man what a great card Lightning Greaves is!
I know its used a huge amount in commander but he seems to exclude commander in these lists
Well, if you want to point to the competitive Commander event for cards in that format to have gotten points from, you should do that.
Batterskull, Jitte, Cranial plating and the swords without seeing the list.
boom
oh jitte, love hate relationship with that
And skullclamp
I played Sword of Body and Mind once. My board was enormous a couple of turns later.
Card and board advantage made easy with Proliferate, spamming tokens of everything and spreading +1s across the board.
How about whispersilk cloak. I love this card with loxodon warhammer and cranial plating
As far as equipment goes, Godsend from Theros is my favorite. I use it in my mono white soldier tribal deck so the cost is never an issue.
Can you feel nostalgia for something you've never experienced? Because I wish I was playing Standard in 2011.
I want to see all 4 swords attached to a spore frog

the rating system doesn't work on this because clamp is the best one.

Perfect vid to watch while crafting my Rograkh EDH deck 👌
Sword of the meek needs an honorable mention
no light and shadow?
Its the worst of the swords.
Nope! It hasn't done enough to make the list like the other 4.
Nizzahon Magic How many points does SoLaS have?

None. It is just the new way of wording the same thing.
I got a foil sword of feast and famie when they were reprinted for keledesh

0:59 that misspelled poll....
Hey, do you think you could revisit some of your old deck tech, like reaper king for exemple
I’ve never seen combo deck using skullclamp. Let’s see what it can really do!
Nobody:
Stoneforge mystic: trace on
I'd love to see how new cards like the MH swords, Embercleave, Shadowspear, Blackblade Regorded and the like are holding up to the classics. Likely can't keep up, but the lower spots might have changed in the past 3 years.
Embercleave is definitely on there. I don't know about Blackblade Regorded.
I personally love sword of the animist
i think jitte is clearly better than batterskull stone forge mystic is the only thing that makes it good
Where does shadowspear go in this list i wonder?
I like blackblade reforged, x/x where x is the amount of land you control. Costs 3 to equip to legendary and 7 for normal. When i only use it on legendaries it gets pretty op haha
Calling it right now, Cranial Plating top 4
EDIT- It's #3, as an Affinity player that makes me happy.
I knew cranial was good even when I first started playing. It's been in my artifact psuedo-affinity deck since I put the thing together!
CPUQ Jeez are you a millionaire?
Augumentum armor (6+6+ when creature attacks destroy target permanent the defending player controls)
...why did you say Jitte was banned in Standard?
Stoneforge Mystic is secret the best equipment. I really like her in commander, i'm running her in Ruhan Voltron so I can find Assault Suit.
Pretty much this list needs to be updated because of embercleave
Which spot will embercleave take on this list in your opinion?
Trepanation Blade: How to mill your opponent and simultaneously destroy their life total
An updated one of these would be rad
Is this a joke? Haha. An updated one came out on Monday!
Lol skullclamp ah the good old days. I won a PTQ AAAAAAND a GP trial in the the roughly 2 months it was legal
I can’t believe Sword of Light and Shadow isn’t one of the better ones in the series.
My top 5
1.argentum armour
2.lightning greaves
3.stoneforged battle axe
4.elephant on thumbnail
5.IDK
MUH BONESPLITTER
Embercleave would definitely be included on this list now
Sword of the meek is not here?
Wondering where the new swords from horizons will land
zo you're telling me I should get the other swords for my edh deck and batterskull?
Definitely the swords. Batterskull isn't as good in EDH as it is in constructed, though.
Nizzahon Magic I'd disagree, Body and Mind is pretty lackluster in commander, War and Peace is ok. Fire and Ice is ok because the card draw (the shock is rarely relevant). I love how he refers to Batterskull as "he".
Skullclamp makes my lil pitter patter go heart heart
And now Sword of Fire and Ice is the only one that sees play in Modern.
Stoneforged Blade doesn’t count?
+Mark Pridemore Not technically a card, and Nahiri doesnt see play in any serious formats anyway.
I was just curious, I know it's technically an emblem, very strong artifact regardless though. Anyways, love your videos, keep up the good work.
Collar+goblin sharpshooter=complete board wipe every turn.
Hehe, I remember Loxodon warhammer. . .so slow. . .still could be useful.
Loxodon warhammer was reprinted in a commander deck
+TheKizz20 True, but that has nothing to do with Standard legality.
Nizzahon Magic ah ok. I see what you mean now
Love me some Lightning Greaves
Batterskull number 1?
uhm... Sword of Feast and Famine somewhere... as well as Skullclamp
This isnt an opinionated list
Batterskull gotta be numero uno.
bloodforged battle-axe with puresteel paladin or sram and you draw your entire deck
That isn't how Sram Works. You have to cast the equipment, making token copies doesn't count.
I know it’s not great but my favorite is harvest hand
It was nice in Limited at least
I'm predicting empyrial plate
Bit shocked lightning greaves wasn't on list I hated that card
I love these videos
Skullclamp!!!
I use the Behemoth Sledge in my Cat tribal Equipment deck! It rules the table!
Skull clamp is easily number 1
I just started the video and my prediction for the number one is Batterskull (or however u write it 😂😂😂)
I did too XD.
Pretty sure Embercleave will shake up the list
Fa sho
"Skullclamp banned in all formats"
Commander flips you off?
+Mistress Gineva i mention EDH if you keep watching.
I saw ... I hate commenting and then continue watching x)
I think jitte is bit overrated. Sure at its time in kamigawa probably was op but i dont think it would make much difference in todays meta.
Umezawa's Jitte is still regularly played in Legacy -- and still banned in Modern. So uh, you're categorically wrong.
@@NizzahonMagic Im pretty sure in modern it wouldnt do anything if it got unbanned. And i don't think in standard or historic it would really do anything. I just dont see magic being a game where equipment where you have to pay for the attaching does anything anymore.
I almost want to disquaily batterskull since is so rarely equipped on anything but its germ.
+Lelines0 True enough.

before watching this : please lghtning greaves numero uno
Best X cost cards.

AHead of the curve. Thanks for the reply.
I love listening to people rant about "broken" cards, despite them being some of the most fun to play in casual formats.
+Y2KNW Skullclamp is only fun to play if youre the one playing it. Even for EDH it is kind of a ridiculous card. If you are playing against it, it isn't fun.
This list needs an update
Indeed
You said mainboard? Is that like main deck for newbs? You probably say moxen too.
I sidedeck it to my mainboard.
Top ten "UN" even cards
Batterskull!!!!
Sword of war and should have 31 not 29
holy shit... skullclamp not number 1.... wtf?
You sound so young here, Nizza, lol
Standard makes a lot of stupid shit here. SoFaI being the worst of the swords, sure.
+Jonny Silence I didnt say it was the worst, it just has fewer points. It is seeing the most play right now so it may not last long.
10th
Your scoring system is terrible, the hell is a unplayable equipment that racked up points in a standard 20 years ago better than skull clamp
