Sooooo. 1st, I have been in the music business in one form for fashion for some time now and I'm not that young of a guy, (well I'm not that old, LOL) but for the last few years I have felt unmotivated in sitting down long enough to even start in the direction of a new song. I have ideas but just cant seem to get the "Energy" to continue in finishing a song. I have a bunch of fragments as I call them. Man, I haven't finished this video ye, (29m, 14s's) but so far, you have hit a lot of my issues on the nail head. Its good to see so much useful information here. I'm already beginning to feel a relief to my "Writers Block" which is the reason searched Google and ending up running into this video. Ill let you know my progress after I finish this video and get started in setting my goal(s). Later

This is awesome Sam! It really motives me. Thanks for that 🙏 After a break due to DJing I’ll start again with music production. This time with a goal 😉
Thank you for this new tool, i'm going to start using the tracking sheet today. I'm really disorganised but this really motivates me because is so well thought out. Thank you again, i'll rewatch this video in 90 days to see how i'm doing.
@@EDMProd also just found the channel and website with all the courses. I've learning production for 2 years now but honestly it feels like i have a month of knowlege (not 2 full years). So i'm definitely getting the foundations course.
Wow, great stuff. Thank you! Such a complete presentation, the recaps at the right moment, but especially turning things into a concrete plan. Really, thank you for sharing
This is gold thank you for this sam I have been following you for 2 years now because of you I'm still sticking to production and daily routines you always stressed the concept of sitting everyday consistently and I followed that since when I started I can see visible improvement every time I finish songs thank you I have a question did you ever heard a artist called ellis he is a very talented upcoming producer he released his song in the future house TH-cam channel in his 1and half year of producing how is that possible?? I finished two years now and I don't know how he progressed so fast??
What I have experienced is that, it kills creativity. I know it might disagree with your values, but I love to work with freedom. Plus, look at Martin Garrix, the no. 1 Dj, He himself says that he’s lazy and he doesn’t set goals, and yet he’s leading the industry. Can you answer this Sam? Why and how is it possible that the leader in the industry is lazy? Nice video Sam, thank you anyways!
If it works for you, it works for you. Martin Garrix is an outlier. Most producers I've come across do benefit from some sort of structure and goals/plan like this, because the alternative is to just do what you feel like in the moment-usually what's easy. And usually what's easy isn't what's best for developing as an artist. Which is fine if you just want to do this for fun, as a hobby, and not progress. Most people do. But like I said, if it works for you, it works for you. And it works for Garrix too. There's no OSFA approach to this :)
I have been studying and little bit research of Martin garrix since I start producing he's my idol he is the inspiration for me but don't believe when he says he is lazy because he Sat everyday producing for more than 3 hours that alone would help him to achieve the progress if you sort it out what sam says sit everyday and FINISH the songs... Martin garrix punchuate about Finishing songs and spend time as much as you can in the studio in every advice so it's all about daily routines if you have a daily routine you don't have to over think
0:00 what type of producer are there
16:00 the action plan starts if you wanna set goals

This needs waaaaaaaay more views

Nah, that means more competition :P
@@joachimbrandenburg it's all about art, and helping others reach their goals. Music isn't a competition

goal gives you pressure to complete the task but freedom gives you creativeness ... that is why martin garrix is so lazy.
Great work, very useful
Thanks a ton for the information.... Very helpful and practical... Cheers...
