    We just purchased one about a week ago and I drove it through a winter storm not once, but twice in AWD on the highway and still got 31.4 mpg. Great little SUV in the wintertime and I highly recommend.

    It would have been cool to see Chevy come out with a trail blazer that was more similar to the old one, like ford did with the new bronco. That would have revived a cool rivalry

    People that are knocking this vehicle, are people that already hate GM. All I can say is, go out and drive one. They drive really nice and they have a lot more features then you would guess for a Sub-Compact. My wife and I drove one and we really liked it, but we decided on a 2020 GMC Terrain SLT. It's in a completely different class, but the Terrain ultimately won because it was larger, more powerful, and had more options.

      Did you get the 2.0? It’s going away for one year (2021) then they are replacing it with the newer (but less powerful) 2.0 that they are using in a bunch of cars.

    • @calvin-
      @calvin- 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jacobyo99 we ended up going with the 1.5, the SLT with a 2.0 was 4000 more. The one point five even though it's not very powerful on paper, does a good job keeping the RPMs in the torque curve.

    It's funny reading the comments by people bashing a vehicle based on watching a video. For an economical vehicle, it's actually a fun vehicle to drive. Engines are getting smaller and more efficient. I looked at this and the Seltos. The Seltos was cheap interior wise and not comfortable. I decided on purchasing this. I don't need a $50,000 vehicle to say Look At Me. Again, a fun and affordable ride. Try it, you might like it.

      @@alh06 I would never buy a GM car either, but that is just ignorant to say Chevys don't last to 100k miles. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of examples on Autotrader. No, they aren't great quality, but any non-luxury car built in the past few years can make it to 100k miles with maintenance unless you get a bad example. Even extremely crappy cars like the Dodge Dart can make it to 100k. This trailblazer might be on a similar scale to the Dart in terms of crappiness though given the 3 cylinders turbos.

    To accomplish roughly what a late '90s Ford Contour did with a 2.5L V6, this TrailBlazer has double the gears, half the cylinders and displacement, and a turbo. As hard as this turbo 3-banger has to rev in routine driving, it's not terribly surprising it kinda sounds like a V6. Based on the EPA ratings, the upshot is 7 additional MPG for a more upright vehicle with AWD. That's what 20 years of technological advancement gets you.
    For roughly the same price, a 2020 Accord is 2 seconds faster 0-60, gets 5 additional MPG, handles better, looks better, and is likely to hold up much better. But it sits too low and doesn't have a hatchback. There's certainly an appeal in sitting high enough to look adjacent drivers in the eye instead of staring at their door handles or bumper.

    • @mosesm5670
      @mosesm5670 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's not really a benefit of sitting up higher except not scraping your car if there is a big bump. Also I've gotten better city mpg in a CR-V than that blazer did on the highway. The civic is a good option since you could get the hatchback and it gets very good mpg from my testing of my moms civic lol. Accord is also nice. Better interior than the civic.

    Keep in mind these have a timing belt and an oil pump belt. Get an extended powertrain warranty. If they break before 150k miles and after your 60k powertrain warranty, not good. I had the 1.0 ford with the same setup. Use the exact oil it calls for and change it on time if not early. Crucial for those belts since they are submerged in it. Great looking little suv though.

      Girlfriend leased an awd RS trim. Pretty nice. Some road noise and engine is not very refined but you need to expect that for this price point I think. Averaging a very nice 29 mpg. Also, check your tire pressure. They had them inflated to 45 psi from the factory still. Good way to eat your stock tires up quick and have a crap ride :).

    Out of all the trims, the LT AWD is the better choice. I have the 2021 RS trim which rides very rough due to the sport suspension and low profile tires. The LT offers a little softer suspension and larger sidewall tires make a big difference in ride quality. Don't knock this 1.3 turbo motor. It has really good torque and pulls hard on the highway. We get around 360 miles on a full tank. (We do mostly highway driving). The ONLY downfall to the LT is you sadly cannot get the sunroof nor the powered lift gate. I haven't had any problems, its a good dependable suv

      @@iggibars Forgot about that, but the 6.0 LS is what I was talking about.

    • @iggibars
      @iggibars 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Barbaratio there’s a lot of confusion on the 5.3, and it’s all GM’s fault imo. I’ve been lucky enough to have had a few vehicles with LS and LT engines in my life and can pretty much build them with my eyes closed. The major difference between the 5.3 and 6.0 of that era revolves around the intended platform they would be used on. The reason why GM gave their engine different naming is because of what their intent was. LS is intended for sedans/performance cars. LT is for trucks. The 5.3 was the oddball of them all because its block is what is used on the 6.0 LS, but is bored out. GM designated it as a truck engine on paper, vs the 6.0 being for sedans, and somehow they managed to flip the real world use and use them interchangeably. The 5.3 went into the Impala SS. There are other models that also had mismatched engines- like the corvette and Camaros with LT engines. This is one of the reason performance engine builder take 5.3 blocks and build them up. On paper, there is LT and LS, but in real life, they’re all LS engines with slight tweaks and updated components depending on the performance they’re trying to reach. You wouldn’t know this unless you’ve taken them apart and rebuilt them, unfortunately.

    This is a great CUV for the price, but Chevy really missed an opportunity for a Bronco Sport competitor. I'm sure if the Blazer was a body on frame offroad capable SUV like the Bronco or Wrangler it would sell like crazy. Same with the trailblazer being a more offroad capable alternative to something like a chevy trax.
