In the 1940's thru 1957 My Dad took the Family to Conner's Hotel in Waterwitch, Atlantic Highlands for his annual vacation the first two weeks of August. During the 40's we rode the train. After the war, we went by car. In the 40's there was a Carousel in the "downtown" area of Atlantic Highlands. There was also a turntable for turning the steam locomotive around for the trip back north. Connor's Hotel had a fishing pier for the Guests where we caught fluke and bluefish, etc. They also had a second pier where self drive boats could be rented. After the war, Dad owned a 52' Wheeler and for several years we arrived at the hotel pier on "BOBBY." I haven't been there in years, but friends told me many years ago that the hotel property was sold toe NY Waterways and was their terminal. Maybe one of your viewers can verify that. I also remember visiting a private zoo belonging to a Dentist from the West New York, Weehawken area. Located up in the "highlands" above Waterwitch, I believe his name was Dr. Genrile. Of course, I am 85 now and have been living in the Valley of the Sun for 41 years, so memories can fade or even be enhanced, BUT, as for the Fishing Pier/boat rental, I have fotos. I also have a foto of my Grandparents who vacationed in one of the Connor's cabins in 1915 with their six sons. Thanks for the Tour John.

Great Job John. I love this area. I live on the Delaware River on the other side of the State, which is very nice in it's own way, but I have a special affinity for this area.
