- Train Passing Train Going Under Me With Union Pacific Railroad Locomotive! High And Wide Load With Locomotive Shoving The Rear Up The Hill. Steel Coils Train Going Up The Hill With Locomotive Shoving The Rear. Big Train Going Down The Hill. 4 Trains of various types are in this video. These trains are in Crescent Springs, Elsmere and Corinth, Kentucky on the Norfolk Southern Rat Hole Line.
The first train is a steel coils train that runs everyday through here with a DPU on the rear. It is going up the big hill in Crescent Springs. Then the next train is going down the hill at the same place.
Next we have Train 123 which is southbound at Elsmere, Kentucky next to the city park. This train has high and wide loads that are put up front. It can only pass stopped trains and has a speed limit of 35. In this video it only had one high and wide load but sometimes it can have a half dozen. It hauls Caterpillar equipment on flat cars.
The fourth train is northbound at Corinth, Kentucky passing a stopped train on its way to Cincinnati. Check out the awesome view that I got of it from a relatively new bridge. That was cool to see the Union Pacific locomotive leading the train.

While the highways are still FILLED (to overflowing) with truck traffic carrying/pulling these 40' shipping containers, can you imagine how congested the highways would be if it were not for the railways? Our economy and our way of life depends upon trucks: it is a shame that there are not more railway branches and railway offload points, such that the railways could carry more of these shipping containers. Great videos.

Thank you for another video that takes place in Northern Kentucky on the Cincinnati, New Orleans & Texas Pacific Railroad line in Crescent Springs, Elsmere, and Corinth. The steel coil train coming up the hill in Crescent Springs, Kentucky needed that DPU to help it up the hill. The mixed freight coming down the hill must rely on good brakes to control its descent down the hill. Norfolk Southern train

Yeah J.T. when we are as good looking as we are, no matter what direction the wind is from, smoke from a fire always follows us.
The 3 locomotives on the first train all have AC drive motors. These locomotives have twice the pulling force as locomotives using the old DC drive motors. The wheel slip is controlled to a limit it to a maximum of 1%.
Steel train always a good sight to start the day. The downhill train Dynamic brakes cut in as it went by was the biggest contrast from Dirty worn-out covered hoppers to the hottest UPS traffic. The hi wide train was surprisingly short but that last downhill train suddenly picked up speed I thought I heard Del Shannon singing My Little Runaway
