It seems to be that the Kemper profile is mixed between clean and gained signal. It means the clean signal stayed at the same level when you turn the gain down.

This makes perfect sense now, and a very clever setting. When increasing gain on a tube amp the sound compresses and there is a drop in volume, especially with humbuckers. This is a great way to balance things out or boost it. I just going to have to refresh my memory on the Bright Cap, as this plays a role in this same issue? Thank you.

I’m looking for information about what to do with pickups that come into the Kemper hot. I have a Bare Knuckle Painkiller which, despite being passive, clips the Kemper input, and when I lower the clean sens it doesn’t affect the input gain as far as the signal, unless I turn it nearly the whole way down. However, on a high gain rig the distortion is affected. There’s a clear difference, and it does in fact change the distortion level of the rig. I thought it was because I was reamping on the SPDIF re-amp input, but when I use the front input, it does the same thing. And the distortion sense does not reduce the input signal out of the red as much as the clean sense does. This leads me to believe that the clean and distortion sens features are more than just volume adjustment.

I found the same thing. My Explorer clips the input too. I drop the clean sense down about 2db and the clipping is almost completely gone. I don’t audibly hear a difference in the tone.

Really great video and I learn lot of new things!
What would be very interesting for me is Clean Sens (Dist Sens) vs Rig Volume vs Amp Volume to level Rigs within a performance or bank.
eg. JVM 410H , green , orange, red, channel with different gain from low to high, in separate rigs in one performance.
What is the best way to level the loudness of these rigs.
Maybe there is already a video available, if not then it may be a new one ;-)
    Thanks

Fully agree with the 'problem' with Liquid Profiles getting louder when turning the gain down. Also agree that Clean Sense is the best fix (I have found).
My problem is now that I can no longer use Input Lock when mixing liquid and non-liquid profiles, which is really a bummer. How about separate clean/distortion sense parameters per profile type, or an even more intelligent solution 🙂

So does the clean sense only work with changing gain in amp menu? If I'm using overdrive effects to increase my gain (not a gain in amp menu) can I still decrease volume on clean settings?

Kann ich eigentlich auch ein Soldano SLO Pedal vor den Kemper packen? Im Loop hab ich schon mein FX-Rack
