Hey Josh! Thanks for this great review. After a year of using your SHW desk, is it still working properly? I want to buy this desk, but on Amazon, I saw some reviews mentioning that the motor that elevates or lower the desk stopped working.

@@lest6590 no, that’s reality. If you buy disposable consumer goods don’t expect them to last long term. Maybe it will but it probably won’t. If you’re cool with spending 200-300 dollars on desks every year or two then go ahead. If you’re just looking for a good desk I suggest you pay for quality. Do it right and you only have to buy it once.

I'm in the market for a electric height adjustable desk...in doing my research for any product that I'm thinking of buying I turn to TH-cam video reviews like yours that are real. Not like thous fake reviewers that get sponsored to hyper up there product. And I don't go by the wrighton reviews because a lot are fake ..better to see honest reviews like yours that spend their own money.. thanks cheers from Canada.. Btw for me I would buy quality NOT Chinese made junk. I would go for made in .

Yeah man, its deff always a gamble when you go for the cheaper product but in this case it turned out great. A lot of good options for things built in the USA as well, you just obviously pay for that manufacturing quality and customer service. Thank you for the feedback on the review!
How is the wobble? I'm looking for a desk that is sturdy, I play piano with a camera mounted on my desk and my current one shakes when I play too hard. Is this one pretty sturdy?
Also, can you drill into it?

@@erickalvarado8364 so after 2 months, it has been a solid desk, the motor still works 100%, and the basket is my go to area for keeping the cords.

The Smart Desk 2 is a much better value. I am sorry but what you are saving in price is not with it. Compare a 1 year warranty vs 5 or 7 years for the Smart Desk depending on which model you pick and the load handling capacity is 300lbs vs 110lbs ( and remember you need to deduct the top weight from it) which indicates how much stronger the motors are on the Smart Desk.
So thousands of positive reviews stating sturdiness, affordable, and reliable means nothing to you? Don't get caught in the marketing these big businesses. All these desk components come from China anyways. Solid steel is solid steel and units sold on Amazon tells me the real story here. I don't even own this desk but don't turn a blind eye to a quality deal because of brand.

Very similar to the one I’m looking at, the only difference is that it has a drawer.
@Josh Medlin it's 2021 now. How's the desk holding up? I saw the Autonomous desk, but I saw this SHW desk and it does the same thing for less. I do see in the reviews that the SHW stops working weeks or month after using it.

Thanks for the video. Did you use an electric screwdriver? I saw average time to assemble is from 45 min to 2 hours. Also, I'm Yang Gang too. ;)
Yang Gang, baby! And no I just used a regular Allen key I believe, but it only took me like 20 mins to assemble

Found this as I was searching what the Oak Wood would be like as I'm looking into the SmartDesk 2 by Autonomous. As Josh pointed out, the two piece is really an eye sore. The quality of the wood subpar. The motor piece that sticks out at the bottom. These are all the reasons not to get this budget desk.

The mechanism for these are all made in same Chinese factory, regardless of brand
Trying to assemble this desk right now but I can’t get the metal rod to reach both connector ends between the motor side and other leg. Anyone else know how to fix this?
Instructions say “insert part F to part B and push it into the inside spring. Twist the motor with force to fit the other side connector, then release it to connect

Hey also. Is the spring side receptor for the rod supposed to be angled slightly? Not the receptor on the motor side. I got the rods to connect however when moving it up and down I just notice there’s a lot of tension on the rod.
@@carlosaleman500 I finally got this fixed this weekend after filtering reviews on amazon I saw where someone took a hammer to side where motor is. The side where the actual motor is, the connector "pin" not sure what to call but it make the motor piece turn - was sticking out from the other side of the leg, I had the rod and lined up with the motor side and took a hammer to the pin that was sticking out on other side and all was well. Make sure you have the other side at lowest point but if you don't you should be able to adjust even after you get the rod connected. I hope this helps.

Hey! so it definitely is grooved, so you probs won't be able to write directly on it without something under it. It's not super deep but I am guessing pencil wouldn't do the best
